haha i remember this prohibition, too. :ohno:
everything was quiet at home - except the radio that covered the Siete Palabras.

those were the days!

One plus factor for the semana santa during those days was that we're not allowed to do a "hard work". Not even an attempt to break the soil to remove grass using bolo or knife.

Libmanan is not yet qualified due to its population requirement....Libmanan would be the biggest city, if ever, in terms of land area I think...

The land area of any municipality can easily be in place instead of the population. Therefore, if Libmanan's population is insufficient but its land area far exceeds the land area required, it may become a city. This requirement is of course secondary to the monetary requirement of at least P100M gross revenue collection of the municipality for two (or three?) consecutive fiscal years.

This is the USI Campus for Physical Therapy and other similar courses, right? Will they still house the same courses or would they also change it? Hoping for a more expansive and beautiful USI Panganiban Campus. :)

I ask my bro to inquire on the U/C project near Jardin Real sudb. What he heard from the construction workers is that it will be a hardware.

The number of hardware stores in the city is but a manifestation that construction boom is happening. Pirmi kaya daa nagkakaurubusan nin materyales kaya kulang ang mga hardware sa Naga. :D

Mushrooms e
Real Mushrooms this time:)

The kids were excited when I promised
I was going to cook brunch on Holy Friday
for they would be waking up late
as they have no deeds to do.

I crept to the kitchen
early in the morning...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday007.jpg

...to look for something to cook, fit to serve at this the day of Lent,
and found fresh mushrooms at the freezer...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday008.jpg

I’m an spontaneous chef who follows no recipe and
makes use of whatever is available at home.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday026.jpg

So I raided the pantry...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday023.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday024.jpg

...forayed the refrigerator...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday025.jpg

...searched our spice rack...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday021.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday027.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday029.jpg

... grabbed what I needed...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday034.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday047.jpg

...and finally had an idea of the menu for the day:
Red Rice, Mushroom Soup, and Marinated Grilled Mushrooms

Cooking the red rice was a breeze...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday032.jpg

...and off I went to prepare the mushrooms.

(Part 1: Rich, Chunky Mushroom Soup)

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday009.jpg

Separate the stalk (to be used for the Mushroom Soup)
from the Gills an Cap (for Grilling)

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday010.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday011.jpg

Chop the stalks into small bits and pieces...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday016.jpg

....wash with fruit and vegetable cleanser...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday015.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday017.jpg

Chop some more in a food processor...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday019.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday020.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday022.jpg

..boil until cooked...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday038.jpg

Add a can of cream of mushroom...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday036.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday039.jpg

Add dried oregano leaves...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday040.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday041.jpg

Mix until thick and creamy
for a real chunky mushroom soup.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday043.jpg

(Part 2: Grilled Marinated Mushrooms)

Wash the Mushroom Gills and Caps
with Fruits and Vegetable Cleanser

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday014.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday012.jpg

Saute with Soy Sauce and add herbs and spices

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday048.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday049.jpg

The Good Friday weather was perfect for grilling
our outdoor kitchen and the backyard beckons...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/calabanga004.jpg

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday045.jpg

Get the griller and the spices ready....

^^This year, NSO is again conducting a census.. What was the previous population census of Naga?

Yes,it is the latest. The next census would be in 2015 or 2020

A census has been conducted last January 2012:)

AFAIK, Census by the National Statistics Office is conducted every 5 years unless it has adequate budget to conduct it every year.

Every barangay in CamSur and CamNorte has its community based monitoring system (CBMS) in place to verify the latest statistics on population, households, community problems and etc. Then it will be submitted to the municipal level so that they can formulate intervention programs on how to solve those problems in the community.

So in case you want to know the latest count on population, just ask your city or municipal officers :okay:

The National Statistics Office this year will conduct the 2012 Updating of the List of Establishments... (http://nscb.gov.ph/pressreleases/2012/PR-201203_PP1_03_ule.asp)

The National Statistics Office (NSO) will conduct the 2012 Updating of the List of Establishments (ULE), which aims to provide a register of establishments containing information which will be used to obtain an updated and reliable sampling frame for the census and survey of establishments and enterprises. The said activity, which will input in the conduct of the 2012 Census of Philippine Business and Industry to be undertaken in 2013, is designed to generate statistics on the characteristics of business establishments with disaggregation up to the barangay level and industry sub-class useful for economic and business planning and decision-making.

For sure, we cannot bury all those electrical wirings because Naga is a low- lying catch basin city. How about elevating it higher. Notice that the City installed higher steel posts. Proper segregation of wirings, eg. cable, electricty, telephone lines, internet lines, etc. is one possible solution for this eyesore.

The 3rd branch of Caramel bakeshop!

I must agree with Doc that shopping at Nagaland E-Mall's Robinsons Supermarket is hassle free. I think, they have more cashiers compare to Robertson Mall. Spacious alley for carts and most of all wider choices though there's a difference of about 1-2 pesos compared to other supermarkets in the City.

Let's see what will happen once puregold takes over. Downtown naga is a low lying area but the uptown is definitely not. We could apply it there.

We actually avoided CWC this holy week as we were told by our informant there that the queue is really long.

That is expected the whole summer round.

These photos prove to show that CamSur really is one of the top tourist destinations in the country- whole year round.

Do we really need to take or post photos of our tourists in this thread to show that we have lots of tourists coming?

Yes . The answer is yes.

This is exactly what this thread is all about and was meant to be. Show what the province got and the best way to do that is by showing photos of our provinces.

We have a lot to show and with the speculations of other forumers that CamSur not having real tourists- then we have real pictures to defend to show that everything is real.

Except from Boracay and Cebu I have never seen such conglomeration of both local and foreign tourists in one place.

The only thing I can say, we have the numbers (from the much maligned stats of DOT, unfortunately by fellow Bicolanos) and fortunately the pictures to show.

From leprosarium, a community life
CABUSAO, Camarines Sur–Maria Dichoso Rull, 83, has nothing more to ask in life; she is contented living inside a hospital ward and her children never fail to visit her.

Rull, a person afflicted with leprosy (PAWL) or Hansen’s disease, has been under government care for 76 years now. She was only 7 years old when the “Sanidad,” accompanied by policemen, took her from her house in Bacon town in Sorsogon in 1936 so she could be cured. Her parents had kept her from health authorities because of her affliction, she said.Read more (http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/172303/from-leprosarium-a-community-life)

^^What's new in Puregold, doc?

I don't know, I did not get it.

Just dropped by at South Star Drug to buy some medicines and I also bought a sack of Dog Food at DIY.

Just keep the kitchen tidy, to make the wifey happy.:)

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::cheers:

That is true Pats.

My kids enjoy my cooking but my wife fears a post- cooking disaster in our kitchen.

I'm very lucky for having a wife that obsessively keeps our house in top shape. For a family with two very young and hyperactive kids to keep it neat and tidy is a big effort and huge task on her part.

Our guests would always jokingly comment that our house looks as if it is always ready for a lifestyle magazine pictorial.:lol:

Really, really great to have a wife like her. I couldn’t ask for more.

Now I’m thinking of something cheesy to cook...:lol:

Tips to keep the kitchen tidy when cooking:

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday053.jpg

^^2 Ply Paper Towels to wipe up the mess...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/goodfriday033.jpg

^^put wet utensils on a plate to keep working table (and the kitchen floor) dry- and save a lot of paper towels in the process.:lol:
Good for the environment.:)

I posted this on my CamSur's facebook page and it was shared 183 times as of this moment. I even tagged all camsur lgu's facebook pages, PIA Bicol, 9th Infantry Division, Office of the Civil Defense-Bicol and Navforsol Bicol to inform them about this.

Six hours later, Navforsol Bicol announced on its wall post and I am happy that the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council are now preparing for this 4 days before the scheduled missile test :D

HOT! HOT! HOT! RDRRMC5 MEETING RE-DPRK's BALLISTIC MISSILE TEST

Beautiful San Bernardino!

San Bernardino is perfect just for lazing around.

CWC for extreme sports.

Caramoan for multi island adventure.

...and soon the whole world will witness San Jose emerging from anonimity- for Paddle Up sport’s enthusiasts.

CamSur I believe is on the right track of tourism progran and promotion.

Rural and rustic but with the right cosmopolitan flare.

Foreign tourists will always found something familiar after immersing themselves with the province’s rustic culture. Starbucks, KFC. Pizza Hut, Shakey’s, both McDonald’s and 7-Eleven in every corner.. They maybe the reason why they invested in Naga City- remind our numerous foreign tourists of what they are missing from where they came from.

Lonely Planet was right after all. Naga City and CamSur are Luzon’s best kept secret and one of the Philippines’ most cosmopolitan city.

It specifically mentioned the city’s vibrant nightlife and numerous churches where people can party all night but still wake up early the next day to attend a morning mass.

We're looking forward for a homecoming in July, inshallah.:)

enjoy the homecoming, jardet - madagos man logod kamo!

Good for the environment.:)

lucky you, doc :)

it:s a good experience for kids to learn how to cook this early. my sisters and i learned as kids when we were asked to assist in the kitchen- as a way of making us see and learn how it:s all done.

just expect everything getting topsy-turvy when the kids hands start to take over hehe:ohno:

I posted this on my CamSur's facebook page and it was shared 183 times as of this moment. I even tagged all camsur lgu's facebook pages, PIA Bicol, 9th Infantry Division, Office of the Civil Defense-Bicol and Navforsol Bicol to inform them about this.

Six hours later, Navforsol Bicol announced on its wall post and I am happy that the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council are now preparing for this 4 days before the scheduled missile test :D

better to be safe than sorry :)

Btw, how's the foot traffic there?

I must admit that the volume of shoppers at Puregold Diversion dwindle in size and activity as compare to SM City Naga, due to the following reasons:

1.Tricycles rarely service to and fro Diversion Road. Most tricycles coming from centro opted to make turns either at SM or at the terminal. I myself find it hard to look for tricycles going to STI despite of its proximity to terminal.

2. Inadequate entertainment facilities, like WOF or Cyberzone which is an instant crowd drawer for shoppers.

3. WIFI connection. Just dunuh if they've already installed the wifi system of the mall. I saw signage that Puregold will soon be wifi ready.

4. Restrooms. Very secluded. CR's are located at the back of Abensons almost near the back exit of the mall.

5. The tedious and hassle checking of grocery receipts annoys me.

Overall, Puregold Diversion is doing well in terms of service and the prices are a bit lower compare to other malls especially if its a wholesale purchase.

The supermarket as I observed is doing a good business. We have been doing our bulk shopping in Puregold once every two months as it is cheaper compared to SM.

It is a well stocked supermarket but we still have to do some errand shopping either at Robinsons or SM as there are some items, (specially at the Deli Section) that are not available in Puregold.

Puregold Mall itself does not get crowded as (in my observation) it is not designed for hanging out unlike SM City Naga, LCC Central and E Mall.

There are other tenants at the foodcourt but I forgot their names.

It specifically mentioned the city’s vibrant nightlife and numerous churches where people can party all night but still wake up early the next day to attend a morning mass.

indeed Doc. Naga will always have its own charm, its own brand of fun and spirit- as every place has.

part of its charm is its being a small city (but with a high population density) with many amenities of urban living yet offering still a quaint, unhurried air.

this is the Heart of Bikol. :)

We are Basic Cheese Pizza lovers.

So far this is my family's list of the best Cheese Pizza in Naga according to our preference

1. Carlo's Pizza's Quattro Formagi (Actually four cheeze; Blue Cheese, Parmesan Mozarella and Cheddar)
2. CWC's Three Cheese Pizza with Garlic
3. Grissini's version of Quattro Formagi
4. (Suprisingly) Greenwich's 7 (I mean it- seven) Cheese Overload Pizza. This restaurant is the least of our favorite as we found ther pizza rather sweet. But this pizza from Greenwich saves the day as it's really loaded.
5. Yellow Cab's : 4 Cheese - mozzarella, cheddar, romano & feta
6. Last but not the least: Shakey's Classic Cheese. It's basic but still flavourful and a liitle salty though.

Here's for a Cheesy Day ahead.

Yum:cheers:

Sacrifice: Good Friday Lesson

After three attempts of trying to visit the ‘Hinulid’ in Calabanga
we weren’t able to find a parking space in the shrine…

Our first attempt was the afternoon of Holy Thursday.
The shrine was full of pilgrims that hiked from different parts of the province…
we ended up driving to ‘Kawa- kawa’ in Ligao instead…

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/kawakawa.jpg

We still had no luck second attempt on Good Friday …
…we went home and contented ourselves watching processions
of the different towns en route to Naga.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/Procession1.jpg

We still failed too find a parking space
on our third attempt last Black Saturday
…and we ended driving to the Farms @ San Bernardino.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/farm019.jpg

On our way back, my very young son commented
“We could not get to Hinulid because nobody needs no car to go there…
Everybody walks, why don’t we?…”

Indeed- we failed to see what 'Hunulid'
was meant to be in the first place…

Sacrifice.

We droved to the Calabanga Church at the Town Centro-

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/calabanga010.jpg

Where we found the church yard empty and
we had a vast parking space all for ourselves…

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/calabanga013.jpg

We walked our way back to 'Hinulid'
...and finally got to see the miraculous image up close …

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/Lazing/calabanga008.jpg

Sometimes it takes the wisdom of a child
for us adults to open up our eyes to see the reality...

The little boy was right,
...no one needs a car to to see Him

New storm besets Siruma caretaker
NAGA City -- A new controversy bugs the local government of Siruma, Camarines Sur after Malacańang issued a directive to Vice Mayor Karen Polinga to continue “acting as mayor” of this remote coastal town, superseding the suspension order issued by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Sources at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office here said that Polinga has held her post in an “acting capacity” as per directive signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa. PPP Code Promises Pangasinan Growth
By LIEZLE BASA INIGO

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP), presided by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., unanimously approved recently the province’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code for enhance economic growth and sustained development.

The approval is another welcome development for Pangasinan being one of the first five provinces in the country to adopt such scheme, said Pangasinan Provincial Administrator Raffy Baraan.

Other provinces who have passed similar PPP legislation are Cavite, Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, and Nueva Ecija.

Calimlim said that members of the Provincial Board unanimously approved the PPP Code in order for Pangasinan to establish a well-structured and transparent investment program that will spur development.

Calimlim said projects under the PPP must be “feasible, affordable and should indicate commercial viability.”

PPP is a form of legally enforceable contracts between the province and private sector proponent (PSP), which requires new investments from the PSP and which transfers key risks to the PSP in which payments are made in exchange for performance for the purpose of delivering a service traditionally provided by the public sector.

The PPP will also serve as an essential part of the overall infrastructure reform policy of the province.
