Here is a picture of an unexploited cave somewhere between Agrupacion and Sitio Dangay, Cabinitian, Ragay, Camarines Sur. Cave enthusiasts/explorers named this as "MAPAGAL CAVE" meaning "sobra nakakapagod" but its worth the experience. There are still unexplored species of different kinds inside which I have not captured because of the difficulties in trail. You have to crawl through tiny wholes to get into another world of darkness and witness the gradual formation of the stalactites and stalagmites which could form million of years before it can be fully develop into a crystal-like mineral. However challenging the place is, the water is cold and refreshing, it cools-down tired muscles and wipes-out fear of the underworld.

I really hope that this will be preserved and be taken-cared-of by those who would want to experience the same. Cheers to all Ragayanos!

Old Centro's resurgence was remarkable. Pizza Hut, KFC, Red Ribbon all moved to SM City Naga. Shakey's Centro closed its location of more than 2 decades and moved to a Avenue Square and opened another one in SM City. Everyone thought that Centro would become nothing but an old ghost of itself.

But as some businesses moved out, new ones moved in. It now has two 24 hour McDonalds, two Jollibee stores, one which us also open 24 hours, four 7 Eleven stores, new hotels rose and old hotels refurbished and of course new fast food chains like Golidilocks, Chickboy, two Mang Inasal restos to name a few.

With another Puregold Mall opening soon and the presence of the one and only Robinson's Supermarket in the region, Centro is opt to regain it's old glory.

and i hope the city and all Nagazens (naga citizens hehehe) will give their best efforts to keep Centro and its old charm alive. even with the fastfoods all over the place the old names in the whole block stand their ground-

We are indeed very proud of our province after being chosen as the next Survivor US location for the next two seasons. This is a big publicity for the province and the country as well. Imagine the PI being shown on US primetime TV for free for almost a year with the DOT not spending a cent.

Lot of inconvenience was caused to the visiting tourists this summer as about six islands in Caramoan were closed during a peak season- but I think it's worth the sacrifice.

Survivor: Philippines recently wrapped filming in the Caramoan Islands, and at the end of the Survivor: One World reunion show, host Jeff Probst revealed both the location and the show’s big twist — that there will be three returning players, each of whom was medically evacuated in a previous season. You know when you're in Bicol when:

1. Your mom asks you to go to the talipapa which is two minutes away to buy sotanghon, cooking oil, a carrot, a quarter-kilo of cabbage, soy sauce, pepper, a sachet of oyster sauce. And get three full servings of that dish for only a whopping P10/serving.

2. You eat delectably ripe bananas wrapped in caramel-glazed flour-cake wrappers in merienda and call them... "turon", and that unmistakable hint of mother's love; after which feigning stomachaches to pass on washing the dishes to your not-as-annoying-as-before sibling who begrudgingly takes on the chore.

3. You can have spontaneous overnights over your bestfriend's house, talking about things from intestinal problems to life dreams, and not care about what happens the next day, nor care whether you brought extra clothes or not (because you can borrow and not give them back but still get have hope of recovering them after 4 years). All this, of course, after walking from Moonleaf Magsaysay to Centro for 3 km not minding the distance.

Scratch that introductory statement -- this is not just when you know you're in Bicol; this is when you know you're home.

‘Mr. Kenkoy’ to represent Bicol in National TOSP search

Atenean and social entrepreneur Daniel Philip Dy topped this year’s search for Ten Outstanding Students – Region V in recognition of his involvements and achievements as a student-entrepreneur, leader of extra-curricular and advocacy organizations in school and Bikol communities.

In his selection, the panel of judges recognized his pioneering and sustained leadership at Mr. Kenkoy, a social enterprise utilizing, developing and selling a material indigenous to Bikol (jute). This enabled him to promote Bikol throughout the country, and to provide capacity-building and livelihood opportunities for out-of-school youths and unemployed housewives. He practically created a community of weavers in Albay and a community of sewers in Naga City.

Dy also leads the Doulos Youth Ministry. This youth organization allows him to positively impact on the lives of many out-of-school youths though formation activities like youth camps and leadership training activities that help bring the members closer to God and develop their personality, disposition in life and skills.

Given these merits and more, he has been recognized on many occasions by organizations like the Ayala Group of Companies, Aboitiz, World Bank, Nestle and the National Youth Commission. In the latest graduation, he finished his course with Latin honors. Aside from this academic distinction, he received the Archbishop Pedro P. Santos Gold Medallion Award, an honor given to the male member of the graduating class whose achievement in both academic and co/extra-curricular activities from freshman to senior year can be characterized as most outstanding.

After talking to someone responsible for bringing in most of Mang Inasal in Bicol, a BDO bank manger confirmed what was posted earlier by bobbymay.

BDO Plaza Rizal will be converted to a regional BDO Center which would be four storeys tall.

Three more BDO's will open in Bicol soon. Two in Naga (old Central Bank Building) and Panganiban Drive and another in Tahao Road Legazpi.

Once completed, Naga City would have seven BDO's.:lol:

DILG chief declares he is not running for senator

ZAMBOANGA CITY (MindaNews/15 May) – Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo has declared that he is not running for senator in the 2013 mid-term elections.

Robredo made the declaration in a press conference here Monday afternoon when asked if his trips to the provinces are already part of the preparation for his candidacy for senator.

Robredo, along with Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, are reportedly being groomed by the Liberal Party (LP) to run for senators in the 2013 mid-term elections.

Robredo said his provincial sorties are part of his official function to personally see and monitor the proper implementation of government projects as the chief of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

‘Mr. Kenkoy’ to represent Bicol in National TOSP search

Atenean and social entrepreneur Daniel Philip Dy topped this year’s search for Ten Outstanding Students – Region V in recognition of his involvements and achievements as a student-entrepreneur, leader of extra-curricular and advocacy organizations in school and Bikol communities.

In his selection, the panel of judges recognized his pioneering and sustained leadership at Mr. Kenkoy, a social enterprise utilizing, developing and selling a material indigenous to Bikol (jute). This enabled him to promote Bikol throughout the country, and to provide capacity-building and livelihood opportunities for out-of-school youths and unemployed housewives. He practically created a community of weavers in Albay and a community of sewers in Naga City.

Dy also leads the Doulos Youth Ministry. This youth organization allows him to positively impact on the lives of many out-of-school youths though formation activities like youth camps and leadership training activities that help bring the members closer to God and develop their personality, disposition in life and skills.

Given these merits and more, he has been recognized on many occasions by organizations like the Ayala Group of Companies, Aboitiz, World Bank, Nestle and the National Youth Commission. In the latest graduation, he finished his course with Latin honors. Aside from this academic distinction, he received the Archbishop Pedro P. Santos Gold Medallion Award, an honor given to the male member of the graduating class whose achievement in both academic and co/extra-curricular activities from freshman to senior year can be characterized as most outstanding.

Dy advances in the competition as representative of Bicol Region in the TOSP national search.

PNR sets test runs for ‘Bicol Express’ in July

NAGA CITY, May 16 — Now more than 97 percent completed, the rehabilitation of the Travesia Bridge in Guinobatan, Albay is expected to end in July this year.

This is when the management of the Philippine National Railways is set to conduct trial runs on the 90-km Naga-Legazpi line.

The development on PNR’s rail service is in line with the planned expansion of the existing Manila-Naga Bicol Express route.

Constancio Toledano Sr., PNR’s Legazpi-Tagkawayan division manager, said rehabilitation is also being done on railroad tracks in Legazpi, Naga, Camalig and Guinobatan. Works on these tracks are expected to be completed also in July.

It’s now official. The location of the 25th season of the hit reality TV show “Survivor US,” one of the highest-rating shows in the United States, is Caramoan Islands in Camarines Sur.

This was announced by Jeff Probst, the show’s host, during the broadcast of the show’s season 24 finale to a live audience at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on May 13.

It’s now official. The location of the 25th season of the hit reality TV show “Survivor US,” one of the highest-rating shows in the United States, is Caramoan Islands in Camarines Sur.

This was announced by Jeff Probst, the show’s host, during the broadcast of the show’s season 24 finale to a live audience at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on May 13.

Probst said the 25th season, dubbed as “Survivor: Philippines,” recently wrapped up filming in Caramoan Islands.

Youth Month in Naga full of activities

NAGA CITY, May 17 (PIA) -- The city government here, in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, city youth officials, and the Naga City Council for Youth Affairs launched various activities in line with the Youth Month Celebration this month.

One of the highlights of the said celebration is the Youth Day: i-Rehistro, a voter’s registration program slated on May 18, Friday, at the SM City Naga Activity center. The activity enjoins the youth to be active partakers in the upcoming political exercise. This will be followed by a youth forum which intends to tackle youth concerns and issues.

Later during the night, an environmental costume: play and fashion show dubbed as E-Cosplay which will showcase various outfits aimed at giving importance to the natural resources around us.

NAGA CITY, May 17 (PIA) -- Discounts from a minimum of 5 percent to a maximum of 50 percent will be given to shoppers who will purchase school supplies from the Diskwento Caravan of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) on May 18-19 at the ABS-CBN Compound here starting 9:00 a.m.

DTI provincial director Edna Tejada said that the activity aims to help the buyers, particularly students and parents, to avail of the discounted price of school supplies in time for the opening of classes this June 2012.

Tejada said that the Balik Eskwela will help consumers in completing the school needs of their children spending within their budget.
