Thanks BJ! I just read in your earlier post that its your local version of Krispy Kreme. I have a sweet tooth, thus, it appealed to me. Is it a snack cooked at home... sold in the streets... or bought from bakeries? I'm just wondering.

You don't have to go to very far places just to have a wonderful weekend... Try to explore your own city and discover its hidden treasures. For those in Naga and nearby towns, why not trek to Mt.Isarog this weekend?

Yabo River? located where?

Something to look forward. The alloted budget is quite big for a bridge.

This will drastically lower power rates within Cam Sur and nearby towns. AFAIK, Cam Sur is also keen on wind energy, it was posted here that the scouted site of a multinational company is somewhere along the coast of San Jose. Rep. Mitos Magsaysay was interviewed over at GNN Naga 48 and gave her insights on our country's ballooning energy crisis. She mentioned that wind energy is not practical as the cost in purchasing and maintenance of the facility is costly. She even mentioned of a wind energy existing up north that during their visit only half of the wind facility is fully functioning due to poor wind pressure on the area thus limiting the output of energy to be processed and convert into energy.

The multi-billion waste-to-energy facility to rise at Brgy. San Isidro this 2013

On the part of the City, investing into waste-to-energy IMO is the best step of the City to entice more investors. The City already resolved the CASURECO issue and is now ready to make amends with its board despite of the fierce opposition from Sec. Robredo on the move of Mayor JB to reconcile with the financial woes of both entity.

Attended a meeting with the Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce concerning the series of events for the upcoming Gayon Bicol and one of the notable endeavor of the group is the creation of the ITC and BPO council of the Bicol region.

These 2 BIG investments by Filinvest in Camarines Sur and CJ Global in Naga City will surely catapult local investments and entice investors.

Lastly, ngunyan masasabi ta na may kwarta sa basura

CARAMOAN ADVENTURE
from Apple Tapan Serrano's Blog

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TDajlM0j-5Y/T8HwphQPESI/AAAAAAAAAIc/CWwdR6UAp98/s1600/caramoan+1.jpg

Had another adventure with my friend in Caramoan. Some say it is like Palawan and the thought of many countries chose Caramoan to be the destination of their reality show “Survivor”. We decided to go to Naga by Train because we want to try the family sleeper. The train is clean even the restroom is fine. The aircon is so cold but train is not for you if easily get dizzy. Might as well go to Naga by train. It took us 13hrs to get to Naga because we have to stop at a certain station in Quezon for almost 2 hours because there is only one railroad track there. We have to wait for the other train from Naga to pass before we continue our long, tiring yet adventurous Harry Potter feel journey.

Lake Buhi new water sports venue
By Sonny Sales
Monday, May 28, 2012
BUHI, Camarines Sur -- After over 1,000 illegal fish cages and 3,800 bamboo structures were dismantled in Lake Buhi in July and October last year, investors began to hold water sports in the lake, including speed-boat skiing and “jet-ski.”

With the celebration of the locality’s fiesta over the weekend, Mayor Rey Lacoste said that water sports exhibitions were participated in by local skiing talents.

The skiing exhibition which started last April 30 has become a familiar activity in the lake specially during weekends.

Lacoste said a trader engaged in the transport industry opened a speed-boat skiing and “jet-ski” boarding facility for tourists in the lake.

good to see you here, swing. good point. considering that the old penafrancia shrine is in the immediate vicinity and that many old structures in the city are of the Spanish colonial style following the "old look" is a good idea.

Thank you po, Father. :) It's been a long time since I last visited Naga, about a year ago. I admire the fact that your city has retained many of its old infrastructures. I've always been a fan of European-style architecture, whether it be Baroque, Gothic, Classical, or even Rococo. :)

Aga Muhlach, Onemig Bondoc Embrace Politics
By ROWENA JOY A. SANCHEZ
Manila Bulletin
May 28, 2012, 2:35pm

MANILA, Philippines - Following actress Alma Moreno's declaration of her plan to run for senator, two more celebrities have confirmed their respective bids: Aga Muhlach and Onemig Bondoc.

Having lived a fulfilled, decades-spanning career as a multi-awarded actor, Aga will apparently attempt to stretch his horizon by running for congress. His target? Camarines Sur, one of the country's top travel destinations.

Last March, it was reported that Aga registered as voter in one of its municipalities, San Jose. Though born and raised in Manila, the Kapamilya-turned-Kapatid actor reportedly has relations to the Amador and Borja clans from the towns of San Jose and Goa, where his father is from.

"I'm really targeting congress. Alam na naman nila sa Bicol kung anong tinatakbo ko talaga. Malayo pa naman ang pagre-rehistro, sa October pa 'yan. But we're all set, do'n na 'ko tumitira talaga," said he in an interview aired on "Paparazzi Showbiz Exposed," May 26.

Ahead of 9-hole golf course, Haciendas de Naga launches driving range
May 28, 2012 - 9:21pm | By Nadtja Villaver

http://www.voxbikol.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/400xY/HaciendasDeNagaGolf.jpg
Ahead of the opening of its 9-hole tropical golf course, Haciendas de Naga launched Saturday (May 26) its Driving Range where golf enthusiasts can now practice their swings and strokes.

Naga City Mayor Hon. John Bongat graced the said event. The mayor himself tried golfing together with Enjoy Realty President Engr. Emeterio “Boy” Aman and other golf enthusiasts. Engr. Fernando Feramil, Golf Superintendent of Haciendas de Naga Sports Club, Inc., gave a basic training on playing golf to the guests.

Meantime the construction of the full 9-hole course is in full swing.

When completed the golf course shall be another sports tourism destination in Naga City.http://www.voxbikol.com/sites/default/files/HaciendasDeNagaGolfCourse600_0.jpg
Haciendas de Naga is offering packages of 2-hour golf clinics for those who want to learn how to play golf. The training includes the 7 essential aspects in golf: lower body section, mid body section, upper body section, gripping the golf club, swinging, principles of hitting the golf ball and rules of golf. The said cliniquing is conducted by Engr. Feramil during weekends.

None sir.

Just a thought on the hiring. IMO, architects mostly are hired on a project basis but for a mall to hire an architect is quite surprising. Remember that LCC Central Mall was designed by Arch. Palafox same with Pacific Mall Legazpi. Will this be an in-house architect? hmmmm looks like LCC has a grand plan :) lets wait and see

None sir.

Nice shot of Starview Hotel.

What I really like about this hotel is its entrance address
768 Avenue, if I'm not mistaken

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff507/Nagacity/034-6.jpg

Starview Hotel building is beautiful but the management has got to stop the habit of hanging tarps on it's facade.

There are times that the Resto (Caby's Cabana and the main hotel building are covered by unsightly tarps welcoming guests or announcing on going hotel function.:ohno:

Why cover a beautiful structure with trash?

By the way, the USI Hotel and Wellness Center is fast taking shape. I'll take photos tomorrow.

Two hotels are rising at CBD 2. Sogo and the USI Hotel this is in addition to the more than a 100 bed CBD Plaza Hotel. All budget traveler's hotel.

Agree. And as the city is becoming saturated with various businesses plus more and more people are coming to the city, billboards, tarps, and streamers of different sizes, colors and materials are also sprouting like mushrooms all over the city. These are eyesores which destroy the beauty of our city. :ohno:

Naga Doctor's Hospital and Medical Center will open on Octeber 2012. It is a four storey 130 bed hospital equipped with first MRI in Bicol and the second Nuclear Medicine facility in Bicol (the first is Bicol Access).

The change of name from NICC Hospital and medical Center was brought about but the on coming grand launching of the Naga Imperial Crematorium and Columbarium also known as NICC.

The NICC (hospital) did not want to have any connection by name or by any form of association to NICC (crematoriums).:lol:

NICC (the crematorium) had a soft launch more than a year ago.

NICC (the hospital) means Naga Imaging Center Cooperative presently located at the St. Louise Center in Mayon Avenue. The present imaging facility will not close and will continue to serve on OPD basis.

CORPLAN 2020 Update: Workshop 2 (Vision and Mission)

During the month of May, representatives from various councils, namely: Governance, Instruction, Formation, Social Involvement, and Student Services, have pooled their thoughts and shared some suggestions on ways to strengthen and update AdNU`s Mission and Vision. The issues raised, which could affect the updating of the University Mission and Vision, were rapid development of technology/social media, globalization, Bikol culture, and environment.

CORPLAN 2020 Workshop 2, which revisits the Vision and Mission statements of the university, aims to: understand the relevance of a mission statement in the institution; review the University`s mission statement; understand what a practical vision is and know its significance in addressing present condition and concerns; and review the University`s shared practical vision for the next eight (8) years.

JourneyingJames as a Luxury Traveler in Naga City?
Posted on May 30, 2012

This will wound up the Four Hats Series- I became a rice farmer, a big brother, a copra farmer and now, the thing that is least expected of me- A LUXURY TRAVELER. Trying a posh hotel, sleep on a double bed, AC on, LCD TV and a hot shower bath, a taste of how rich people enjoy their vacation even just for a night.

I just came from a 14-hour trip (from Mongpong island in Marinduque to Catanauan, Quezon to Gumaca then finally to Naga City), I haven’t had a decent bath for almost 2 days and I was smelly and dirty. My fingernails are filled with dirt and my pants are somehow hard because of dried sweat, in other words #KADIRI. I think the hotel staff was having second thoughts if I really do have a reservation in their hotel.

Sa Corregidor Street (Brgy. Tinago side) matatagpuan ang dalawang kinalasan na ito.. BTW Corregidor Street ay nahahati sa dalawang barangay. Yung nasa left side,Brgy Dayangdang, yung sa right Brgy. Tinago.

The brother of Nonong is the City Sports Coordinator Francis Barja.
Thanks for the info wohiwohi.:)

It should have been Stay, Stray, Play and Pray.

That park is surrounded by hotels, a mall, restos and a church.:)

I'm making (local) travel reviews on that format.

I will be posting the Stay, Stray, Play, Pray and Feast about Iloilo in a few days.

Maybe tomorrow. Watch for it on the Ilolio thread.

 catchy word play

Watch our for the kinalas fest this Naga City charter anniversary.

Dayangdang, as the breeding place of kinalasan has a lot to offer. Tried Nonong's Kinalasan and I was surprise on their new offering - Kinalas with mata ng baboy  you can see the eye popping white round thing floating in your bowl. As to the taste SUPERB

really good noodles that make you long for more.
tiwi kung tiwi!

 just near another famous kinalasan with an odd name - Tiya Kamot kinalasan.

Vitreous Humor.

Double- edged meaning in the Popeye Kinalas.
I mean the humor.

Bikolnon/ Pinoy creativity at its best even in names and brands :) names like Popeye naughtily allude to some ingredient (or perhaps to what happens to someone who keeps eating this cardiac delight haha :lol::lol:

It's final: airline ticket refunds, rebooking allowed by June 15

MANILA, Philippines - Starting June 15, domestic airlines face suspension and fees if they bump off passengers from an overbooked flight and disallow refunds and re-booking of airline tickets.

This final order was imposed by the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) after considering the numerous consumer complaints against local airlines that have been aggressively expanding flight frequencies and offering promotional fares in the past years.

This marks the first time the CAB amended its 40-year old regulation on compensation for denied boarding and delayed or cancelled flights.

The CAB first issued these orders last May 4. Following required consultation process with stakeholders--including representatives of airlines who presented their position papers during a board meeting last May 11--the CAB resolved “to sustain” its orders which will be published on June 1 in a newspaper. As a rule, these CAB resolutions will take effect 15 days after publication.

UNEP matriarch bids farewell
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail
A life well-lived, an existence admirably nurtured and a loving family around her — these are just few of the most important things that surrounded Dr. Remedios Dy-Sanchez Rigoroso-Alfelor for the past 97 years of her life. On May 28 at 10:18 in the morning at Mother Seton Hospital , she peacefully joined our Creator.

Her demise was a great loss not only to the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) but also to the entire Rinconada community. Wawa, as she is lovingly called by loved ones and colleagues, has fulfilled her mission of being an ambassador of UNEP to the world by unselfishly sharing her vision wherever she goes.

Free circumcision a hit with CamSur kids
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail
The free surgical operation program dubbed Migz Ginhawang Operasyon has made considerable headway posting more than 2,500 surgical operations throughout the province in a span of two months.

It is summertime and at the same time a school break, that is why a lot of growing up kids opted to have their circumcision during the lull in their classes. In fact, of the more than 2,500 surgical operations conducted under the Migz Ginhawang Operasyon, more than half were for circumcision.

The town of Nabua posted the highest number of kids who availed of the free surgical program with 290 circumcised in one day last May 19 with the Sal Fortuno Gym of Nabua National High School as venue.

Camella Naga goes the distance
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail
NAGA CITY – The Camella Fun Run dubbed “Run. Take the Lead” took off in this city one beautiful Sunday at 6 o’clock in the morning. It was April 15, with participants coming from Iriga, Nabua, Bombon and some homeowner enthusiasts and different running clubs when the said sports event kicked off at Camella Main in Bgy. Del Rosario along Maharlika Hiway.

The runners hit the roads of Del Rosario-Cararayan and back, and then inside the fast developing Camella Heights (with overlooking panoramic view of Centro Naga), and finally pushed on towards the entrance gate of the latter where the finish line was.

The race, Camella Naga’s first venture into sports, was a community interaction for a cause wherein the Missionaries of the Poor in Cararayan, Naga City was the beneficiary.

NAGA CITY—The end of the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona has reopened the stalled Senate committee hearing of HB 4820 that splits Camarines Sur, according to third district Rep. Luis R. Villafuerte Sr.

Villafuerte said the impeachment proceedings had weighed into the stalled hearing at the Senate Committee on Local Government presided by Sen Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

He said that since the impeachment trial ended Tuesday he said the hearing will be reopened at the committee level Thursday so that he said there is still six months to complete the process through a plebiscite.

Kaogma caravan jobs fair successful; more to come
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail

THE Kaogma Caravan Jobs Fair 2012 held at the Camarines Sur Convention Center May 24 and 25 was only the first of a series of jobs fairs as Kaogma Good Governance Caravan visits several more strategic towns in the province in connection with the celebration of the Kaogma Festival marking the 433rd year of CamSur’s foundation as a province.

Such is the welcome development brought by the changes in the celebration of the province’s birth which brings hope and brighter prospects for those who wish to land gainful employment either locally or abroad.

The report prepared by personnel of the CamSur Employment Center (CSEC) revealed that for the 1,643 job vacancies abroad 248 applicants qualified for the required positions. Moreover, for the 1,547 local job vacancies 275 applicants qualified for the open positions. So, many more job opportunities await job seekers.

Social networks as bridge between public and gov’t get mixed reactions
By Shiena M. Barrameda
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail

NAGA CITY — As more and more public entities or government offices openly accept the use of social networks as tools for transparency and good governance and as an interactive connection with constituents, its role as an instrument through which the public could express their thoughts gained mixed opinions from public officials themselves.

Most local governments, like the city government of Naga, have long seen the need to use the internet as a form of public relations tool. Since 2010, the city government has already performed at least three reconstructions of its website www.naga.gov.ph to feature its recent activities and future plans while showcasing vital information regarding budget, financial reports and ordinances.

Naga Mayor John Bongat, whose team reengineered the city website immediately after he assumed post after winning the 2010 mayoral elections, repeatedly stressed that the primary objective of such effort is to bolster transparency in informing the people of the important matters involving local governance and development efforts in the city.

New Kaogma format brings bigger impact
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail

PILI, Camarines Sur –The new format adopted by the provincial government to celebrate this year’s Kaogma Festival focused on service-oriented and practical activities rather than socio-cultural and sports extravanganza is widely emerging to be more practical and very well-received by the people of CamSur.

Dubbed the Kaogma Good Governance Caravan scheduled for two whole weeks barnstorming strategic location to bring this year‘s observance of the 433rd Foundation Anniversary of CamSur is functionally designed along Gov. LRay Villafuerte’s unique brand of local governance to make optimal use of local resources and bring the government closer to the people.

A prime example is the inclusion in the caravan of outreach services by the Office of the Provincial Assessor, whose tent is invariably jammed with people not only for distribution of real property deeds and ownership documents but also for dispensing of invaluable asssistance and information about assessment and taxation concerns.

Haciendas de Naga beckons bright prospects in golf
By Juan Escandor Jr.
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail
Imagine Naga City becoming a choice convention and recreation site of executives and big-time personalities because there is a golf course where they can transact business away from prying eyes while they walk over the greens and close deal when the ball is placed in the last hole.

With that in mind, Engr. Boy Aman, real estate developer, moves one step further to achieve that dream as he officially unfolded Saturday the 23-ha golf course in progress in his 115-ha uptown village Haciendas de Naga in Barangay Carolina.

By Maria Nimfa Nadtja H. Villaver
May 31, 2012 by bicolmail

NAGA CITY — Haciendas de Naga opened another sports-tourist attraction in this city with the soft-launching of its driving range last Saturday, May 26, 2012.

The driving range is part of the 9-hole tropical golf course whose full development is ongoing. It is a good place where golf enthusiasts can practice swings and strokes.

Naga City Mayor John Bongat graced the event. The mayor himself tried golfing, along with Enjoy Realty President Emeterio “Boy” Aman and other golf enthusiasts. Engr. Fernando Villamil, golf superintendent of Haciendas de Naga Sports Club, Inc., gave a basic training on playing golf to the guests.
