Top 7 Islands and Beaches in the Philippines
July 18, 2012 at 3:16 pm by prontohotel

The Philippines has over 7,000 dazzlingly beautiful islands with sand, waters and creatures live under waters. It is hard to narrow down the options to sort the best beaches and islands in this country. Perhaps, there are other better islands and beaches than those included in the list below. Give us your opinion if you disagree with our list.

1. Boracay

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Boracay.jpg

Boracay is the most popular destination for vacation in the Philippines. The beach extends 4 kilometers long with many restaurants, bars and hotels standing around it. Kiteboarders and windsurfers flock to this beach during the early months of the year for the International Funboard Cup competition.

2. Palaui Island

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Palaui.jpg

Secluded from the main land, this Palaui Island boasts its amazing white sand and volcanic rocks that make the green-blue water in the ocean looks terrific. Tourists who come to this island usually will not miss the opportunity to dive or snorkel as the marine life is irresistibly beautiful.

3. El Nido

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/El-Nido1.jpg

Dedicated divers must know this dive site in the Philippines. Over 50 species of corals can be found around El Nido. Huge ocean mammals are often seen by the divers at this dive site. Both professionals and amateurs are welcome to enjoy the nature under water.

4. Panglao

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Panglao.jpg

Panglao Island was once an empty island before foreign travelers decided that this island would make a great holiday destination. Some foreigners decided to live in the island, while the locals wanted to make sure the smoothness of the communication. Hence, many locals can speak English, Japanese or German.

5. Bantayan Island

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Bantayan-Island.jpg

Bantayan Island is astonishingly peaceful yet beautiful. This island is a great place to contemplate because of the tranquil atmosphere. But there are also bars for pleasure seekers. Beers are cheap and most locals are really friendly. Don’t come during the Holy Week before Easter because many local travelers often stay here during the holiday.

6. Caramoan

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Caramoan.jpg

Caramoan is the name for both Filipino sea turtle and this wonderful sandy beach in Camarines Sur. Lie back and relax while enjoying the sun light on the beach. Or you can go diving and enjoy the corals and fish or climbing the Mount Caglago to get the best view from the peak.

7. Pagudpud

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Pagudpud.jpg

Pagudpud is not as popular as Boracay. Thus, it is emptier and more peaceful. Don’t expect modern bars and sophisticated resorts sit to make a line along the beach. There are windmills standing in a row that make the beach looks extraordinarily scenic. There are 3 factors that attract tourists to come here: wave, sand and sun.

Rep. Villafuerte score policy on Bicol railway modernization
By Joey Natividad
July 19, 2012

NAGA CITY —- The present government policy to modernize the Manila-Bicol railway system will not answer the transport needs of Bicolanos within the next ten years, and it lacks the vision for a modern railway transport system, since the rehabilitated old tracks are good only for freight services, a Bicol lawmaker said.

Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte, (3rd District, Camarines Sur) said that to modernize the southbound railway system, commuter train services must be employed to transport passengers within the major destinations in the Camarines Sur-Albay-Sorsogon routes, not to mention the usual Manila-Bicol train service.

“For railway modernization, wider rail tracks must be used for passenger train services bound for Manila-Bicol, which must run at least 120km/hour to cut travel time shorter, and that ideal rail service must be three trips a day,” said Congressman Villafuerte. “The old narrow tracks, currently being renovated, are good only for cargo and freight train service.”

Anti-PNR lobbying by bus firms?
By Joey Natividad
July 18, 2012

http://bicoltoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/junio-ragragio.jpg

NAGA CITY – Rumors and suspicion of intensive lobbying by bus companies to derail the national government’s plan to modernize the Bicol-Manila railway transport system was not discounted by Philippine National Railways general manager Junio Ragragio as a possibility, but he stressed that the modern railway system will not affect the profitability the bus firms get in the lucrative Bicol-Manila bus routes.

Ragragio said on Tuesday (July 17) in a press briefing that heavy stress and demand on passengers and goods transport system along the congested South Luzon main route shall be relieved by the rehabilitation and utilization of the rail transport system that has been the traditional transport mode into the Bicol Region in decades until 1990′s.

He said that if there are secret lobbying by bus transport associations to prevent PNR from going full blast in its railway service, it will not affect the train service since the national government has prioritize the state-owned south railway system as part of Bicol regional development efforts.

JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL
By Gerald O. Enguero

NAGA CITY — Pedicabs, or mobile carts powered by foot pedal, have been devised to provide a more efficient and speedier way of collecting garbage, initially at the public market here.

At least five units of pedicabs, which cost P14,423.60 each, have been initially dispatched at the Naga City People’s Mall (the renamed city public market) after it was formally launched last July 2 by City Mayor John G. Bongat and personnel of the Solid Waste Management Office (SWMO) headed by Engr. Joel Martin.

Engr. Martin said that the new innovation is in line with Mayor Bongat’s instruction to attain a 100% collection efficiency in the city’s garbage collection.

JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

UNCLE Johnny is very young. He is turning one this coming July 26. Uncle Johnny’s Great American Bites is the youngest restaurant at the Cereza complex serving the juiciest and best tasting grilled burgers in the Bicol region.

Celebrating one year of serving all American treats aside from burgers like buffalo wings, roasted chicken, steaks, baby back ribs, salads, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, buttered vegetables, cheezee macaroni, and more, UJ is set to launch new grilled delights on the 26th, Thursday next week.

“We will concentrate on seafoods and veggies cooked the American way,” said Johnny Casilang, the man behind the success of Italian resto Grissini, and now of the resto named after him. They will be introducing grilled tuna, shrimps, new salads, omelette sandwich, and the delectable zucchini eggplant bacon roll with cream cheese.

JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

NAGA CITY — The prestigious Association of Certified Public Accountants in Commerce and Industry (ACPACI) will be holding its annual convention at the Avenue Plaza Hotel here on September 20 to 23, this year, with the theme, “Sustaining Integrity in a Challenging Environment.”

Corazon S. Rey, chairperson of the convention, wrote Naga City Mayor John G. Bongat that this year’s affair will feature plenary and technical sessions, as well as fellowship and sports activities, which will be participated in by CPAs in the Commerce and Industry sector from all over the country.

The big event will kick off barely a week after the dust of the 2-week long feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, Bicol’s regional fiesta held every month of September in this city, has barely settled.

Bongat reports to the people: Getting there
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

NAGA CITY — Stressing that Nagueños continue to have many reasons “to smile” to the world, City Mayor John G. Bongat in his 2012 State of the City Report delivered last Tuesday during the Sangguniang Panglunsod’s regular session at the People’s Hall of the City Hall here declared that Naga “remains at the forefront of many good practices and innovations in local governance, especially when enabled and empowered by the fundamental principle of stakeholdership.”

He assured that only by working together as a team, with every citizen pitching in his share, can the city build a happier Naga, a truly maogmang lugar.”

The city mayor made a report on the state of the city for the last two years since he assumed office in 2010 by answering the question that he himself threw in: “(A)re we getting to where Naga wants to go?”

Mayor Bongat provided the answer by summarizing his accomplishments through the development agenda, also known by its acronym “H2ELP your CiTy” that he first outlined during the first six months of his office.

H2ELP your CiTy stand for the following target indicators: Health and Nutrition; Housing and the Urban Poor; Education, Arts, Culture and Sports Development; Livelihood, Employment and Human Development; Peace and Order and Public Safety; Cleanliness and Environment Protection; and Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance.

Health and Nutrition. The city registered a 47% reduction in infant death between 2012 and 2011 by improving infant mortality rate from 14.7 to 7.62 per 1,000 live births, compared to Bicol regional average of 10.2. The same progress was also registered in under-five mortality rate and maternal mortality rate ratio.

The city also registered gains in nutrition, its 4.8% rate of malnourished preschool children in 2009 to 2010 was further reduced to 4.6%, the lowest in the region whose average malnutrition rate is 16%. The mayor announced the upcoming establishment of the Naga City Center for Health Development and Nutrition that will house the first ever Institute for Health Development and Nutrition Studies in the country.

Also noted is the number of mothers exclusively breastfeeding their children which shot up by 73%, from 1,774 in 2010 to 3,064 in 2011.

The mayor said that while the city officials had to contend with the fact that Naga suffered an unfortunate casualty due to dengue, the situation could have been worse if City Hall did not declare a local “state of calamity” early on which therefore allowed the City Health Office, in partnership with the Liga ng mga Barangay, to implement necessary containment and preventive measures against the dengue-carrying mosquitoes that have been plaguing all parts of the country.

Housing and the Urban Poor. The city has added 15 projects sites to the Kaantabay sa Kauswagan (KsK) (a social housing program), raising to 68 as of June 2012 from only 53 in 2010. These new additions will benefit some 453 urban poor families more who have been waitlisted by the Housing and Settlements Development Office of City Hall, bringing the total number of beneficiaries from 9,191 in 2011 to 9,375 on the first semester of 2012.

Education, Arts, Culture and Sports Development. The city focused on effective education support programs, including the conversion of Sabang High School into the Naga City Schools of Arts and Trades and the strengthening of Alternative Learning System (ALS) to provide second-chance learning to out-of-school youth. It also supported the schooling of 457 college students under Iskolar kan Ciudad, helped by a P10M annual funding allocation.

The creation of Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (ACTO) has enhanced efforts to promote culture and arts. Under the CIDA-funded Local Governance Support Program, the city is currently doing cultural mapping aimed at enhancing awareness of local cultural heritage and as input to the promotion of heritage tours that will boost the city’s tourism efforts. The city also established the first-ever Naga City Art Gallery with local artists and created the “Harong kan Literatura asin mga Tataramon Bikolnon” to promote the development of Bikol literature in its various forms and as repository of all Bikol works, among others. The city further put in place enhanced training programs for athletes, purchased more sports equipment, initiated more sports tournaments, and saw the full utilization of sports facilities, like the Metro Naga Sports Complex, Naga City Coliseum, and the Naga City Civic Center.

Livelihood, Employment and Human Development. Despite jitters in the global economy, the number of registered enterprises in the city increased by 4%, from 907 in 2010 to 944 in 2011. New constructions improved by 12.6%, from 95 to 107 during the periods mentioned. The city is looking at 2012 to be an even better year, as indicated by the fact that during the first semester of this year alone, the city had already attained 86% of total investments relative to the 2011 level. The mayor sees the coming of new big-ticket investments, such as the setting up of GMA TV Network regional headquarters for Bicol, a solar panel plant rising in Barangay Pacol, and several new hotels sprouting in strategic corners of the city. Tourist arrivals in the city, combined with Camarines Sur, as reported by DOT increased by 31.7%, from 1.9M in 2010 to 2.5M in 2011.

On employment, the city government’s employment facilitation services registered a 38% increase in number of workers placed, from 2,768 in 2010 to 3,825 in 2011, and an even higher 92% increase in foreign placements, from 79 to 152, including those hired by an Australian firm involved in livestock butchering.

Peace and Order and Public Safety. Crime volume went down by 21%, from 723 in the first semester of 2011 to only 523 during the same period in 2012. During the same period, cases of theft went down by 22%, from 277 to 216, robbery by 32%, from 110 to 75. Riding in tandem theft plummeted by 71%, from 28 to only 8. Crime solution efficiency (CSE) doubly improved by 33% between 2011 and 2012. From January to June 2011 when the police solved 227 of the 723 crimes committed or a CSE of 30%, it rose to 63% when it solved 352 of the 573 crimes committed during the first semester of 2012.

Cleanliness and Environment Protection. Under ‘Clean Air,’ the city conducted intensified drives against smoke-bleching and regular air quality monitoring. Under ‘Clean Water,’ the city completed the CDIA-funded pre-feasibility study for the Integrated Naga River Revitalization Project (iNRRP), which drew up a P2.2B package to carry out then project. Already, the city has secured P20M to fund the Naga River transport system from the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) of the DILG, and P27M from the National Disater Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) for the first phase in a series of allocations for flood protection.

The city hall, out of local funds, had completed a total of P63.7M worth of infrastructure projects in 2011, another P9.7M in the first half of 2012, and had bidded another P34.8M for the remaining part of the year. This P110M infra package includes two major storm drainage projects, from Sta. Cruz to san Francisco and along Mayon Avenue, plus several million pesos more for smaller drainage lines across the city.

On ‘clean surroundings,’ the city upped garbage collection from 58.3 tons/day during the first semester of 2011 to 70.3 tons/day this year, or an increase of 20%. This came after the city acquired more garbage trucks and introduced railroad-based garbage collection. The higher garbage collection puts the city in better position to meet the daily requirements of the CJ Waste-to-Energy facility when it finally operates two years from now.

Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance. The city has kept the momentum in ensuring that Naga sustains its reputation and tradition for good governance as shown by the following recognitions received during the period: Seal of Good Housekeeping for Local Governments by DILG in recognition of Naga’s exemplary performance in internal housekeeping for CY 2011 in Good Planning, Sound Fiscal Management, Transparency and Accountability, and Valuing Performance Management, earning for the city a P20M grant; Award of Excellence, in recognition of unparalleled leadership, dedication and service in health Emergency Management being the first to establish an Inter-Agency Communication Center given by the DOH during the 2nd Salud Bikolnon Awards in Legazpi City; “Dugong Bicol” award, LGU category, for initiative to promote and uphold the National Voluntary Blood Service Program given by the DOH; Two consecutive “Outstanding Local Project Monitoring Committee Awards for 1010 and 2011 given by the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) of the Bicol Regional Development Council; and more.

Alliance bats for shorter gov’t processing system
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

NAGA CITY — An alliance of LGU workers and businessmen in Metro Naga who committed themselves to create a more business-friendly atmosphere are continuously finding ways to further improve the service standards in processing business permits and licenses by the local government units concerned.

In an orientation-seminar-workshop on upscaling business permits and licensing system (BPLS) held last July 12, this year, at the Avenue Plaza Hotel, here, the development partners have come up with a shorter version of existing BPLS for incoming business application and renewals.

The workshop, which aims to tool up the tourism and investment opportunities of Metro Naga, has streamlined the old BPLS procedure by reducing the number of signatories, thereby obtaining a reduced process from nine steps to five, that meet the standards set in the August 2010 joint memorandum circular issued by DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo and DTI Secretary Gregory L. Domingo.

DTI waives ICC stickers fee for helmet
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

SO THAT more motorcycle-riding consumers will have their helmets checked and marked with Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has temporarily lifted payment charged for the service.

The compulsory checking of helmets is in accordance with the provisions of RA 10054 which mandates all motorcycle riders to wear standard protective headgears while driving.

DTI-Camarines Sur Public Information Officer Jay Percival Ablan said the provincial offices of DTI have been tasked with the inspection of previously-acquired helmets without ICC stickers. The DTI standards/officers shall process applications for certification, and thereupon issue ICC stickers for helmets that meet the guidelines by the Bureau of Product Standards.

Individuals whose helmets do not bear ICC markings should go to DTI provincial office in Panganiban Drive near the Rotunda for the issuance of stickers free of charge. Issuance of free ICC stickers is only until September 30, this year.

Mark Antony
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL
By Melvin S. del Puerto

In the last article, I concluded that the story of Brutus does not end in the murder of Caesar and neither NEA’s butchery of the Consumers Group with the betrayal in the appointment of a PS in Casureco II. There is still Mark Antony to contend with, the General of the Army allied with the remaining powerful sympathizers of Caesar, I further stressed. But, who will he be in the next chapter in the Consumers Group’s brawl with OIC Jane Barrameda and the Board for the control of Casureco II, is still anyone’s guess.

Heavy betting to assume the Marc Antony’s role though had the odds narrowed down to any of the four heavily favored influential and powerful personalities who are either vocal against the present dispensation of Casureco II, or who have chosen to remain silent at the moment, but just the same, are fed up with the political maneuvering and wrangling in the electric coop

On July 17, 2012 (Tuesday) Naga City Mayor John Garcia Bongat delivered the State of Our City Report to his constituents. Mayor John emphasized that he is merely reporting what is the present condition of Naga City after two years under his administration, and the remarkable improvements and development brought about by his sterling leadership.

He talked not only about what the City Government has done and will be doing, but also how the ordinary citizens can be a part of, and instrumental in effecting change and transformation of Naga City and its people. He asked Nagueños to Help their City. He said, “Our program goes by the acronym H2ELP your CiTy, in itself a call for stronger citizen participation in governance and development.” More concretely, the program defines the following priority areas the Bongat administration commits itself in a covenant ratified by the people during the last local election which he won overwhelmingly on a platform of leadership by example.

H2ELP your CiTY is further explained through the following:

Health & Nutrition. He intends to provide more extensive health & nutrition services, upgraded facilities, and enhanced health care capabilities. I hope the Naga City Hospital will expand its services, increase the number of personnel, and its facilities improved in order to accommodate more poor patients from a fast-growing city.

Housing & Urban Poor. He talks about prompt processing of land titles of housing project beneficiaries, and building of more basic infrastructures in urban poor sites and communities. I hope more housing units will be available to the squatters living under the bridges, railroad tracks, and river banks so that they will have safe and decent dwellings.

Education, Arts, Culture, & Sports Development. He talks on how to excel and make Naga as the Bicol’s center of education, arts, history, culture, & sports development. I commend the city government for having the Naga City Science School, and the Naga Sports Coliseum, and Naga City Civic Center. I also commend the Bongat administration for supporting the proliferation of arts, and culture through groups like Salingoy Art Group and the like. I hope it will be able to properly restore and preserve historical infrastructures and sites that were wantonly disregarded in the past. I wish that the Bikol literature, language and history be taught in all primary and secondary schools in Naga City, so much so every student will know who we are as a people, and be proud of our rich cultural heritage. I also wish that more groups and the media will effectively partner in this endeavor.

Livelihood, Employment & Human Development. He talks about measures that will the help the people earn and work in the city, and further enhance human resources in order to qualify them to work in other places and abroad. The establishment of the Naga City Community College is a concrete example of this initiative.

Peace & Order and Public Safety. He talks about providing safety measures to safeguard the lives and limbs, and secure the properties of the citizens and visitors alike in the Happy city. I hope that the city government will install more CCTV cameras, and enhance its drives against petty crimes and criminal elements in the streets especially the riding in tandem menace.

Cleanliness & Environment Protection. He talks about clean air, clean water, and spruce environment. Public hygiene can be observed if the citizens will follow the antismoking and anti-littering ordinances. They must be also mindful of their trash, and men should not pee anywhere they feel relieving themselves like stray dogs especially when they are intoxicated by too much liquor. By the way, the Naga River Rehabilitation Project is just what the city needs. It will foster tourism, boost economic activities, and discipline the people to help maintain the river and its surroundings clean and beautiful.

Transparency, Accountability, & Good Governance. He talks about consultative decision-making in local governance, especially that it exemplifies the delivery of services to the people. An honest and clean government inspires the citizens to partner, and share in solving the problems by providing the needed resources, and by participating in the endeavor in community building. Through this initiative, Naga and its people will be transformed, and continuously soar to greater heights and achievement.

Indeed, the people of Naga smiles back as they HELP their City and the Bongat administration realize the “Maogmang Lugar” (Happy Place) for everyone.

To highlight the economic performance of the City, total investment of the City generated by the City last 2011 is 1.382B. This year, in the 1st quarter alone, the City already generated almost 86% of those which is equivalent to a whopping 1.188B.

Thus, a clear indication that for this year, Naga's investments might reach to almost 2B.

GOOD MORNING JUDGE: BMC’s nagging issue
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL
By Eufronio K. Maristela

I have not been to Iriga City for quite sometime and just recently I was suprised to see the vast physical improvement of the city under the present administration of the incumbent Mayor Madeleine Alfelor-Gazmen. The downtown area with the new buildings and physical structures and department stores abounding has become a busy part of the city. I recall years back when I was the Legal Counsel of the then A. L. Ammen Transportation Company (ALATCO) which is the Philtranco now, I used to report for work at least three times a week at the Alatco Office in Iriga and the town, although the biggest in Rinconada in terms of population is not as active and busy business- wise as it is now. This time it is now the business center of the whole Rinconada Area, and it would seem that people from Rinconada need not go to Naga as they used to do to buy things that they may need.

While at the RTC Branch 28 yesterday attending to a libel case of a broadcaster friend, the Mandamus case with prayer for preliminary mandatory injunction filed by City Mayor John G. Bongat to compel the incumbent administration of the Bicol Medical Center to open the controversial gate fronting the side-street (Miranda Avenue) leading to the city hall was also heard. In support of Dr. Efren Nerva, the incumbent head of the hospital, members of the Camarines Sur Medical Society trooped to the Hall of Justice to show their support to the decision of Dr. Nerva not to open the gate. While I do not want to comment on the issues pending before the Court, the area fronting the hospital leading to the controversial gate which was ordered closed by Dr. Nerva is part of the private property of the hospital.

As I told my students before, If Naga investment reaches billion mark, it means BIG things are coming. 2009 reaches a billion mark due to the 700M infusion of SM City Naga and it steadily grow until 2011. This year, surpassing 1B in investment in the 1st quarter alone means BIG, I mean really BIG.

EDITORIAL: eSkwela of BJMP
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

The 370 inmates in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) jail in barangay Del Rosario in the City of Naga have not just been getting regular dosage of religious activities like Bible study and counseling, the Holy Mass and confessions, but are into pursuing education through community based e-learning centers dubbed eSkwela Project.

BJMP Naga City district jail warden Supt. Wilmor Plopinio offered the educational opportunity to inmates meant especially for out-of-school youths and adults. With the project, the prisoners learn new skills and competencies while serving their jail terms.

The eSkwela is a flagship project of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) through its Human Capital Development Group (HCDG). This type of e-learning will prepare inmates once they are re-integrated in the community.

Bongat reports to the people: Getting there
JULY 19, 2012 by BICOLMAIL

On ‘clean surroundings,’ the city upped garbage collection from 58.3 tons/day during the first semester of 2011 to 70.3 tons/day this year, or an increase of 20%. This came after the city acquired more garbage trucks and introduced railroad-based garbage collection. The higher garbage collection puts the city in better position to meet the daily requirements of the CJ Waste-to-Energy facility when it finally operates two years from now.

Source (http://www.bicolmail.com/2012/?p=2440)

This is what I'm looking forward to materialize at the soonest. This billion worth waste-to-energy facility will surely be the catalyst of our local economy.

What is good is that RLC already purchased a lot in Naga and that is a clear indication that they are interested in investing here in the future.

As to SM's timetable in opening up new malls until 2015 were Bohol is included, as early as now, the lot is now slowly being readied for its mall construction.

Starmall Naga is included in the 5-year plan, let's hope by 2014 or earlier they open in Naga.

Sabi kaya ni MV...

Aside from increasing production (32 subdivisions will be launched this year), Vista Land plans to build 50 malls in five years, five new malls this year and ten per year over the next four years. This frenetic pace of mall building is faster than the four malls per year clip of SM, which has more than 40 malls.

Projects in the pipeline include Starmall San Jose Del Monte Phase 2, Starmall Las Piñas 2 Phase 2, Starmall Molino, Starmall Santa Rosa and a BPO building in Edsa, Mandaluyong.

Already, Starmall plans to have more branches within the next five years with the goal of having a total floor area of at least 1,000,000 square meters. Expect a Starmall soon at Molino, Cavite; Dasmariñas, Cavite; Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Tanza, Cavite; Gen. Trias, Cavite; Naga, Bicol; and Santiago City, Isabela.

6. Caramoan

http://www.prontohotel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Caramoan.jpg

I think the local government will manage the "waste to Energy" to be distributed to the constituents. We will have very very cheap electric rates I assumed. And will encourage more investment in the city. i think this project way back Mayor Jess Robredo time.

agree. no need to transfer it to naga proper. it is always good to locate airports far from populated areas. this is, in fact, what has happened in iloilo and bacolod and what is being done to CGY and LGP as well.

many other airports in the country and elsewhere in the world are not found in the city they are named after: manila is in pasay, dumaguete is in sibulan, bacolod is in silay, iloilo is in cabatuan, cebu is in lapu-lapu. tokyo airport is not in the city proper but narita city, chiba prefecture

Planters Dev't Bank to put up 10 branches
By Donnabelle L. Gatdula (The Philippine Star)
July 20, 2012 12:00 AM

Manila, Philippines - Planters Development Bank (Plantersbank) is putting up 10 branches this year to strengthen its foothold in providing banking needs for the small and medium enterprise (SME) market.

Bobby Banaag, Plantersbank first vice president for corporate communications and OIC for SME Center for Asia Environment Center, told reporters at the sideline of the 9th Annual Meeting of the APEC Financial Institutions Dealing with Small and Medium Enterprise (APEC SME) hosted by Plantersbank, that their network expansion is now dependent on the requirement of SMEs particularly those based in the countryside.

Recently, he said, Plantersbank opened branches in Makati and Mandaluyong. The bank is expected to put up eight more branches in different areas in the country including Bacolod, Isabela, Naga and Manila. To date, Plantersbank maintains 72 branches.

Rep. Villafuerte score policy on Bicol railway modernization

agree. no need to transfer it to naga proper. it is always good to locate airports far from populated areas. this is, in fact, what has happened in iloilo and bacolod and what is being done to CGY and LGP as well.

many other airports in the country and elsewhere in the world are not found in the city they are named after: manila is in pasay, dumaguete is in sibulan, bacolod is in silay, iloilo is in cabatuan, cebu is in lapu-lapu. tokyo airport is not in the city proper but narita city, chiba prefecture:cheers:

upgraded or new airport in Camsur will arise as a parallel airport of the main one in MM than the other one farther south.

mae convert lang Quirino Highway as toll road (http://www.manilatimes.net/index.php/business/top-business-news/21717-two-major-ppp-transport-projects-under-pre-investment-study) and mae continue lang ang SLEX up to Pagbilao Quezon (http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/362718/slex-extension-to-reach-pagbilao) thereby further shorten travel time

and most of all Rail modernization with Camsur Manila travel time just will with in less than three hours, thereby international travelers from GMA and CALAVARZON will have other option.and will resolved congestion of NAIA

a new one here!

Rise and Shine Camarines! its morning na  when i say Camarines its All of Camarines including Norte,Sur,Nueva parts of Albay down to donsol all form part of All Camarines hehe.

Maray na Aga po father!

im no angel asin mayo man akong dilang anghel but in the foreseeable future
upgraded or new airport in Camsur will arise as a parallel airport of the main one in MM than the other one farther south.

mae convert lang Quirino Highway as toll road (http://www.manilatimes.net/index.php/business/top-business-news/21717-two-major-ppp-transport-projects-under-pre-investment-study) and mae continue lang ang SLEX up to Pagbilao Quezon (http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/362718/slex-extension-to-reach-pagbilao) thereby further shorten travel time

and most of all Rail modernization with Camsur Manila travel time just will with in less than three hours, thereby international travelers from GMA and CALAVARZON will have other option.and will resolved congestion of NAIA

Dapat maribayan na si Dato para ipadagos na ni Pinoy si Libmanan airport project:ohno:

If in-case the airport will be relocated in Naga City in the future, I think there will be a space for it, but why are we going to consume a huge lot for the airport when in-fact Naga City lot will be used for commercial/Industrial purposes. There are huge spaces in Camarines Sur. Why not relocate it somewhere in the 1st or 2nd district of Camarines Sur.
In my view. I think L-ray plan to run for congress is not only develop the district but also find a solution to our airport relocation. This would be the key to encourage more and more tourist as well as investors.

Hopefully if this happen. the airport will cover not only Northern Bicol but also Southern part of tagalog

I don't think Dato had done much to build an airport, even his mother was still the president :ohno: .

Duaw Nasud

Duaw Nasud is the visit of the pilgrim image of San Pedro Calungsod, to the archdioceses and dioceses of the Philippines after his Canonization on October 21, 2012.

In 1672, the year of San Pedro Calungsod’s martyrdom, there was only one ecclesiastical province for the whole Philippine archipelago, including the Marianas Islands: the Archdiocese of Manila and its suffragan dioceses, the then Diocese of Cebu, Nueva Caceres (Naga), and Nueva Segovia (Vigan).

Three hundred and forty years after, the Church in the Philippines has grown into 16 ecclesiastical provinces: 16 archdioceses, 57 dioceses, 6 prelatures, 6 apostolic vicariates and a military ordinariate. The Duaw Nasud is designed to introduce Saint Pedro Calungsod to the whole Filipino nation, with particular consideration on the four ecclesiastical centers of his times: Manila, Vigan in northern Luzon, Naga in southern Luzon and Cebu in the Visayas and Mindanao.

....
The Duaw Nasud will start on the arrival of the pilgrim statue of Saint Pedro Calungsod from Rome and will end three days before the National Thanksgiving Mass. The visit will start with activities in Manila, particularly in Intramuros because in 1672 the latter was basically what Manila was. Then the visit will go north, to Vigan (Nueva Segovia). From there, a motorcade of the image of San Pedro Calungsod will be organized then down to Naga (Nueva Caceres), making some pre-designated overnight stops in some archdioceses and dioceses. After covering Luzon, the visit will proceed to the Visayas and Mindanao before arriving in Cebu for the National Thanksgiving Mass celebration.

bulk of infrastructure fund was put on hold (and i hope still intact) by Pinoy admin for second district aimed to put and end of resurgence kan Dato ni ina nya :bash:

just in case Lray will have a chance to win over Dato in 2nd district, Airport project will be hasten and i hope those hearsay for this development project that it will be done thru PPP is correct.

NAGA CITY—How do you sell a landline service in the time of Facebook? One of the largest telecommunications firms in the country is confident it will find the answer.

In fact, the Lopez-owned Bayan Telecommunications Inc. (Bayan) remains bullish on the future of its landline or voice service even as it pursues the expansion of its Internet or data service to keep up with the exponential growth of social networks, said Juan Jose de Jesus, marketing head of Bayan.

De Jesus was in Naga on June 28 for the inauguration of the refurbished office of Bayan in Barangay (village) Tinago in this city.

The three-story building, which now has the standard look of Bayan offices all over the country, houses the corporate office, and network and customer operation centers in Bicol Region of the telecommunication firm.

High tech.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/Hitech003.jpg

That’s what it is on at the new
McDonald’s Magsaysay Drive thru.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/Hitech004.jpg

You get you order thru a speaker
fronting lighted menu standees.
Your orders and the amount to be paid
are displayed in a flat screen LCD.

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/Hitech005.jpg

You pay in another window…

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/rrntcaceres/RBX/Hitech006.jpg

Get what you ordered
by the exit…

and off to the road

Note: sorry for the poor quality of my photos. It was taken at 6 am yesterday, I was using a phone cam and trying to be very discreet as I suspected that the drive thru was camera laden, although unmanned.
