so it's BSCAST now. hope this is the last time they're changing the school's name (unless it becomes a university and another change is needed :)

i think it's better this way than making it a campus of CSPC. after all BCAT is the older institution, i believe, and is already a brand in itself.

the school already offers courses like architecture and ECE aside from the traditional technology and technology education courses, right?

Manila, Philippines - Two Philippine schools were bestowed the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Eco-Friendly Schools Award during the ministerial dinner for the launching of the ASEAN Environmental Year (AEY) 2012 held recently at The Royale Chulan in Kuala Lumpur.

The Iliranan Elementary School in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental and the Camarines Sur National High School joined other primary and secondary high schools in ASEAN countries as ASEAN Eco-Friendly Schools for their initiatives in integrating environmental protection and preservation in their curriculum, greening activities and over-all school management.

The Philippine delegation was led by Assistant Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources Corazon Davis. Other members of the delegation include Environment and Natural Resources Special Concerns Office director William Ragos, Department of Education-Bureau of Elementary Education OIC Marilyn Dimaano, San Jose City Mayor Gerardo Valmayor, Jr., Camarines Sur National High School principal Nely Abad, Iliranan Elementary School OIC-principal Gary Magnanao and Third Secretary and Vice Consul Johann Veronica Andal.

LONDON – Lady archer Rachelle Anne Cabral-de la Cruz confessed she left home in Camarines Sur as a teenager to escape her abusive father but since he passed away last November, she has forgiven him and is dedicating her Olympic presence here to his memory.

Cabral-de la Cruz, 27, compiled 627 points to rank 48th of 64 in the 72-arrow seeding at the Lord’s Cricket Ground – one of the city’s oldest sporting venues inaugurated in 1816 – last Friday. She takes on No. 17 Inna Stepanova of Russia in the first round of head-to-head knockout pairings starting tomorrow. Survivors move on to compete in the next knockout rounds on July 31 and Aug. 1. The women’s finals are on Aug. 2.

“My father (Teodoro Vicente) was very strict with me when I started to take archery seriously,” she said. “He wanted me to be disciplined. I started shooting when I was 14 with my father, an archer, as my coach. But he was often drunk. My mother Mariday was a battered wife. When I couldn’t take the physical abuse, I left home to go to Manila. Four years later, my mother followed. Although we were living apart, I still kept in touch with my father and sometimes, even visited him. He was a janitor in a school in Camarines Sur. One day, last November, he was found dead after getting drunk – he was 52. No matter what, he was still my father and I owe my athletic career to him. He influenced my love for sports.”

In the vastness of our archipelago, with so many diverse cultures and cuisines, we can only conclude that our country is not only truly one of the most beautiful countries because of its natural resources, but it is also endowed with some of the warmest, most hospitable, happiest people on the planet, having one of the most malinamnam cuisines there is. It is celebratory food meant to be shared.

The Philippines holds a unique position as the only country in Asia influenced by both sides of the Pacific — from its neighbors in the region of Malaysia and Indonesia, including China and India, and Mexico during the two and a half centuries when the Galleon Trade flourished. Add to the cooking pot Spain and the United States, and you have a vibrant mix of all these cultures, which, rather than confusing, gives modern-day Filipinos a particular personality that is comfortable with himself and, at the same time, at home with the rest of the world. It is definitely more fun eating in the Philippines.

Bicol Express - Of all the regional Philippine cuisines, Bicolano cooking is perhaps the only one that can be homogenously characterized by its heavy use of coconut milk and copious amount of chilies, be it in the meat, seafood and vegetable dishes. The Bicol region encompasses the four southeastern Luzon provinces of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon, and two island provinces of Catanduanes and Masbate. No self-respecting establishment in Bicol worth its coconut (pun intended), from the humblest turo-turo to any upscale bistro, would be caught dead without its iconic laing, pinangat, and Bicol Express. The latter, a.k.a. gulay na lada (gulay in Bicolano means cooked in coconut milk or ginataan, while lada means chilies), it comes in so many variants, as countless as there are households.

Bicol Express got its name from the express train that used to ply Tutuban Station in Manila to the southern terminal at Legazpi City in Albay and back. Legend has it that the late restaurateur Tita Cely Kalaw, the big-hearted lady from Lipa City, Batangas, who grew up in Naga City, where she developed her Bicolano taste buds, started her cooking career back in 1970 with a four-table hole-in-the-wall karinderia in the garage of an uncle’s house in Malate, Manila. Here, the legend goes, her brother Kuya Itring introduced the Bicolano dish gulay na lada to the uninitiated Manileños, naming it after the express train from Bicol, which they could hear coming and going from their kitchen. The fiery dish literally caught fire in Manila and spread all over the archipelago, such that today, even in the region of its origin, it is now popularly called Bicol Express, albeit in so many variants.

What fascinates me most aside from the traditional fluvial and traslacion is the military parade. maski nag uuran dagos man giraray :lol: I remember an LPA was threathening Bicol, heavy rains and strong winds doesn't stop the participants. We were teary eyed to see contingents coming throughout the region withstand the ferocious weather. Sir Vic Avila, as the emcee of the event, even mentioned that its a blessing from INA and everyone starting shouting VIVA VIVA!

Just finished watching Sandugo street dancing along with fellow photo enthusiasts. Bicolano senator Chiz Escudero was the guest of the event. His humor and wit plus his Bamboo-like look (former vocalist of Rivermaya) made the crowd alive. I was the lone entry from Luzon :lol: most of the entries are from Cebu, Dumaguete, Davao and the rest are Bohol-based.

Our Voyadores street dancing which took place at the Plaza Rizal IMO needs to be transferred on a venue where everyone can see the rhythm and synchrony of each of the performances. The BIG Dome is the best venue for it. Plaza Rizal does not offer a good view for the audience and only those at the stage can actually see the beauty of the performances.

How about the Voyadores street dancing to start at the Plaza Rizal going to Panganiban, passing SM and finally at the coliseum for the final performance.

Recently got hooked with the Olympics and somehow fascinated how they turn and construct some of the outdoor facilities for this biggest sporting event into an architectural marvel.

Our Metro Naga Sports Complex despite of its distance to the City proper has a lot of potential to become Bicol's premier outdoor arena. Here's some of its features in which our City can capitalized;

1. The secluded sports complex engulfed within a mini-forest sorrounded by bamboos and shrubs is the coliseums very unique identity. Only a few outdoor arena in the country has this king of sorroundings. Panaad Stadium in Bacolod is one, I guess.

2. Away from the City traffic and pollution. No traffic only fresh air right for athletes and sports buffs.

3. Ayala-Avida right beside the complex is a plus factor. I remember during the last SEA Games, Naga was shorlisted as one of the venues. Naga offered the unoccupied raw houses as billeting centers.

4. Mt. Isarog as the background. Splendid!

5. Presence of Ateneo Pacol and Haciendas de Naga as support facilities.

MNSP has hosted lots of national sporting events but still it is devoid of good marketing and funding.

I watch the 2007 Palarong Pambansa opening at the Metro Naga Sports Complex and to my dismay the pompom girls are back performing the usual routine :ohno:

Also, Naga Sports Complex is way better than the province stadium.

I hate those V-shaped pillars of the grandstand.

The time Voyadores was held at the Cathedral grounds it was raining and there was no provision like tents or chairs for a large crowd and worst is that both the audience and participants are soaked wet under the heavy downpour.
