FYI: As of July 2008, Malay, Aklan is now a first class municipality per issuance of a memorandum circular by the Bureau of Local Government Finance. The bases for the classification are the annual income from 2004 to 2007.
Though Boracay is operated by the Philippine Tourism Authority, the business permits and other licenses of the resorts and other establishments are done with the approval by the municipal government.

This is much better compared to other Asian countries like Macau's St. Peter's Ruin. or Bangkok's Buddhist Temple. Our local Government just need to develop Marketing Strategy inorder to promote it.

Agree, it's one of the iconic symbols of Naga, a landmark that is.
How's E-Mall, btw, when you went there?
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 04:42 PM STAR VIEW HOTEL: MESSAGE BEYOND THE SKYSCRAPER BUILDING
This Building should be considered not possible for operation. But we are so ingenious to find ways to used it. Bicolanos are gifted people. in hard times, we can make the impossible to possible.

garzland May 24th, 2009, 04:45 PM ^^That's one of the most iconic buildings in the city. It was patterned on the Burj-Al-Arab Hotel in Dubai.
I would consider the following as the most iconic buildings:
1. MV Hall (NCF)
2. Star View Hotel
3. Ateneo de Naga (Old and New)
4. Villa Caceres
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 04:54 PM Agree, it's one of the iconic symbols of Naga, a landmark that is.
How's E-Mall, btw, when you went there?
Generally E-MALL business is doing well, even there tenants. But LCC is regaining back specially the department store and grocery section because former customers already compared the prices with SM. But the tenants are not that happy. few people are coming inside their store as they told me.
I heard and also what the picture of Rhyz , terminal will be transfer inside the compound of LCC, it would help the establishment.
the terminal route, would be going north, like Milaor, Sn Fernando, Pamplona, Pasacao. Libmanan, Sipocot, Lupi, Ragay, Del Gallego and Tagkawayan also. This would be help already for LCC. Don't know about ALPD or Robertson
Dept.
What i see here in the future is that SM Naga will be stable, because of the customers coming from different places in Bicol. And other Malls will be sustain by the locals inside the city.
fil07 May 24th, 2009, 04:59 PM Wow, Tagkawayan, Quezon!
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 05:00 PM Burj-Al-Arab Hotel Dubai is based of a Arabic boat, signify the seaport industry of Dubai as a very developed Arab city. But there is a similarity also with our Star View Hotel, when it comes to foundation, because both are in a lowland area, on the part of Burj-Al-Arab Hotel it is constructed on the sea, and our land is also sanding or soft soil.
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 05:01 PM Wow, Tagkawayan, Quezon!
Yeah, i know lots of them coming here. Maybe they used the Del Gallego PUJ or Van.
garzland May 24th, 2009, 05:02 PM ^^Are you sure there will also be direct Tagkawayan route? That's great, this will definitely have a huge impact on the city's economy and the province as a whole.
Once the terminal is transferred at LCC, tenants will regain their losses as well as the mall's vibrancy. Is the terminal located in front of LCC?

Probably early in the morning, not really sure. but i prefer to take pictures if its in the morning. My celphone is not that clear in the evening

"Maybe they used the Del Gallego PUJ or Van" it is just ten or 15 minutes from Tagkawayan to Del Gallego.
At the back of the foodcourt or going to the Toilet. there is a gate open already for customers parking in that area. Once it was close.
garzland May 24th, 2009, 05:14 PM ^^Yeah, I figured it out. I thought it's a direct route.
There's no doubt, once the terminal is done LCC will regain its huge losses.
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 05:19 PM ^^Yeah, I figured it out. I thought it's a direct route.
There's no doubt, once the terminal is done LCC will regain its huge losses.
It is really a good idea to put it in LCC, seens SM Bicol is already that stable even without the VAN terminal in front.
I hope that LANDCO will try to have a second thought putting up in Almeda, where the possibility to transfer the south bound terminal in that place.
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 05:21 PM BTW, Garz di you went to SM this afternoon? i went there and saw the new TAXIS.
garzland May 24th, 2009, 05:30 PM ^^Yeah, I went there and saw it too. The taxis are nice and elegant. Do you have idea regarding the fare/flat rate in taxis po?

I have the opportunity to talk to one of the driver. He told me, that the fare is the same as in Manila rates. that is P 30 per Kilometer. If you are coming from SM to different parts of Metro Naga like Pamplona you will not be charge twice. but if your going outside Metro Naga you will be charge twice, the reason behind is that the taxi will not have a passenger going back. so the further you go, twice will be charge, anyway. they are doing well, i haven't seen one after i left SM this evening. He told me also the owner of the 40 (?) Taxis is from Bula.
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 05:42 PM ^^is that located near Old GSIS. I think I saw that somewhere there.
the one in front of OLD GSIS is also another branch. But the main is located infront of Didith's parlor( back of Advent theater ) or at the back of Baker's Plaza
garzland May 24th, 2009, 05:46 PM ^^So, the minimum is 30 pesos. How about from SM going to Progress Homes, I think the distance is 2 km, is it gonna be 60 pesos or just the same since it's just very near the city proper. I'll try riding there one of these days.
There are 40 taxis, 30 from Naga and 10 from Legazpi.
bobbymay74 May 24th, 2009, 05:47 PM Nice Interior just like in Hongkong: A Contemporary commercial space design, with lights focus on the walls and the items. Color varied to make it distinct.

Yes, P 30 is the standard rate, P 60 is the total. I think it is practical enough specially, if your around 5 or more. even as far as Sorsogon or tagkawayan, Quezon

hakz2007 May 25th, 2009, 05:38 AM LCC Mall Nabua
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/4902/74944086.jpg
From a reliable source..
LCC Mall-Nabua has a floor area of an approximately 2,200 square meters. The mall is located in front of Nabua Municipal Hall.
The mall grounds will consist of the two-storey main mall buiding, waiting and parking areas and a mini terminal.
The mall will include shopping and dining establishments and the food court.
To occupy the ground floor are the LCC Supermarket, food court and Jollibee. The Department Store and the first-ever branch of Handyman in Rinconada will be on the second floor. I am still verifying the remaining three (3) tenants of the mall. Eleven (11) stalls of 2.5 x 2.5 sq.m. will also add to the commercial space of the mall.
The LCC management's tentative opening schedule is on August 19 or September 20 this year. According to my source, the engineer and architect says that the opening will be on the last quarter of 2009.
Let's just wait and see!

hakz2007 May 25th, 2009, 08:18 AM The wonders of technology in vegetable growing...
http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/5116/32542948.jpg
Who said that salad vegetables could only be grown in the highlands or in greenhouses? This is not true with Renato Norte of Topas Sogod, Nabua. He has proven that these vegetables could be grown in the lowland. Encouraged by MAO Arnel Duran of Nabua Mang Rene converted the once grassy vacant lot into an organic garden. He has proven that it only takes industry and patience to convert the 2,000 square meter lot into an organic garden without using tractor or carabao. He only used hoe in land preparation.
Starting anew is not easy. A retired plant mechanic Mang Rene tried his luck in Mindanao after his retirement in 1993 but his wife Charito was homesick. So they settled in Nabua last year. A friend offered a vacant lot in Topas Sogod. They constructed a nipa hut and began to cultivate the land.
He collected rice hull and produced his own carbonized rice hull to improve soil tilth. He also applied chicken dung and prepared insect repellant made from oriental herbal nutrient plus citronella leaves. He used indigenous microorganisms, which he used as spray for pests. He also prepared fish amino acid, the extract of which are sprayed on the plants as fertilizer.

LCC Mall Nabua
http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/4902/74944086.jpg

LCC Nabua and Avenue Square are of the same size, if I'm not mistaken.

garzland May 26th, 2009, 01:53 AM Garden enthusiasts build tourist attraction in the city (http://www.bicolmail.com/issue/2009/may21/xgarden.html)
By Juan Escandor Jr.
NAGA CITY---With an advocacy and determination to save a grove of matured trees in a planned relocation site of the urban poor dwellers in this city, a group of garden enthusiasts has successfully convinced the city government 10 years ago to build a distinct tourist attraction there which became one of the top tourist drawers in the city the past years.
Johnny Las, president of the Isarog Garden Society Foundation, Inc. (IGSFI), said their organization of garden enthusiasts was relentless in lobbying the city government to change its plan to build a community in a 4-hectare property and instead save the trees and develop the area as showcase of plant species of not less than one hundred kinds as a celebration to ecology, which they aptly named Naga City Ecology Park or Ecopark.
Heeding their call, the city government in 1999 entered into a memorandum of agreement with the GSFI that assures P300,000 annual allotment for administration and operation of the Ecopark from the former and gives the latter the sole re sponsibility to administer and operate the facility for 25 years.
In forgoing with the planned relocation site, the city government bought another property in Balatas to achieve Mayor Jesse Robredo’s relocation project of urban poor dwellers squatting in private properties around the central business district.
“I think all is well that ends well with regards to our opposition against the relocation site because of the trees. The urban poor dwellers are better in their own places in Balatas which is nearer the centro while we achieve also our dream of showcasing what the garden enthusiasts of Naga City could do to help improve the environment and the landscape,” he explained.
Las said that with an average of 279,960 visitors a year, the 10-year old 4-hectare Ecology Park of Naga City is a distinct destination here, about two kilometers from the city hub in the village of San Felipe. He explained the Ecopark has carved its own distinct appeal to tourists because of their collection of a wide array of ornamental plants, palms, blooms and trees that are categorized according to species and color of blooms.
“To capture the religiosity and devotion of the Bicolanos, the Ecopark has a special garden dedicated to Marian devotion with statues of Our Lady of Fatima, Nuestra Señora del Salvacion, Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia, Our Lady of Miraculous Medal and Our Lady of Guadalupe,” he said.
Las, an agriculturist and a rural bank owner, said the Ecopark is a result of civil society and city government partnership that he said demonstrates how private participation in development could be harnessed with best results.
Dolly Chavez, the Ecopark administrator, revealed the maintenance and operation of the 4-hectare park require six daily workers, an assistant park administrator, gate keeper and four maintenance laborers.
Chavez said the Ecopark is a favorite destination of educational tours and group tours to Naga City because its thematic gardens’ plants and trees are tagged with common and scientific names like in botanical gardens.
From just a patch of a grove of trees with cogon grass in 1999, the 4-hectare property after ten years has now been transformed into a unique confluence of groves of trees, different varieties of palms, hedges, variety of blooms and greeneries carpeting the slightly rolling land of the Ecopark.
Coinciding with the celebration of the 30th foundation anniversary of the IGSFI which was originally founded in 1979, a new hall named Ecology Hall was blessed and inaugurated May 17.
As centerpiece at the Ecopark in San Felipe, Naga City, the air-conditioned 120-seat capacity Ecology Hall intended to serve as an alternative to hotel-based facilities and services by providing venue for conferences, seminars, workshops, reception and even for meditation and spiritual inspiration amid greens and blooms.

Many tourist spots are just waiting to be marketed. That's the problem with some of our leaders - lack of determination to market and develop the place. Others have done it, why don't they?

Credits must be given really to the mayor for prioritizing projects like this. It's only in her time that Iriga has risen up. Hope this continues.
hakz2007 May 26th, 2009, 12:00 PM how i wish:) magkaroon din ng ganitong library ang Nabua:)
i hope so...
kung ma develop lang talaga ang mga lugar nato.tinaga, calaguas and siruma kaya lang malayo pa yata tlaga to sa prayurity ng mga polcarbs:)
again, i hope so...
Many tourist spots are just waiting to be marketed. That's the problem with some of our leaders - lack of determination to market and develop the place. Others have done it, why don't they?
probaby, they will say "no budget'.
Credits must be given really to the mayor for prioritizing projects like this. It's only in her time that Iriga has risen up. Hope this continues.
Truly is...

hakz2007 May 26th, 2009, 06:00 PM Daet, Camarines Norte (25 May) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Bicol regional office has already lined up programs on agricultural development for the province of Camarines Norte under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).
Dr. Jose V. Dayao, DA regional director, said during the Information Campaign on the Economic Crisis held here that DA will carry out corn and seeds distribution among local farmers, series of trainings on goat and swine raising, livelihood assistance to displaced worked and even hire additional laborers for several DA projects in the province.
"The projects form part of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's program to ensure food sufficiency, agricultural productivity and development, and job generation in the countryside," he noted.
Among other projects up for implementation in the province include farm-to-market roads (FMR), rehabilitation of irrigation systems, and subsidies to farm inputs.
"DA also pursues the mainstreaming of the "Ginintuang Masaganang Ani" (GMA) program and the F.I.E.L.D.S. (F for fertilizer, micronutrients, use of the leaf color chart and minus-one element technique; I is for irrigation facilities rehabilitation and restoration; E is for extension, education, and training; L is for loans for inputs, shallow tube wells and surface water pumps; D is for dryers and other post harvest facilities provision; and S is for seed subsidy on quality genetic materials" he stressed.
Dayao recalled some 9, 814 bags of seeds were distributed to farmers in Bicol in 2008 while the National Food Authority had procured 16, 763 bags of play from rice farmers.
He added that rice sufficiency for last year reached 71.88% compared to 67.09% in 2007 and 61.63% in 2006.
He also mentioned that DA Bicol has completed a total of 25 FMRs from 2007 up to present in different municipalities of Camarines Norte.

hakz2007 May 26th, 2009, 06:01 PM Naga City (25 May) -- The 13th batch of SM Foundation's Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) Farmer's Training Program was launched Friday (May 22) at the Bicol Integrated Agricultural Research Center, Department of Agriculture RO- 5 compound, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur.
SM Foundation's Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmer's Training Program is the social responsibility arm of SM Group of Companies, in cooperation with Harbest Agribusiness Corporation (HAC) and the Department of Agriculture (DA)
Launched in 2007, the program's conceptual approach is that of the Farmer's Field School, integrating theories and methods of agro-technology, experiential education and community development.
The three-month training course consists of a once-a-week lecture module and actual field practice. One feature is the "Training the Trainers" component ensuring the program's sustainability by giving farmers-turned-trainers extensive daily practice.
It also equips farmers with the technology to produce vegetables ready for commercial use as it covers a wide array of topics including site selection, land preparation, seed handling and seed culture, crop management, fertilization, irrigation, pest and disease control, fruit selection, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and marketing.
By enhancing backyard farming, it encourages the unemployed to venture into farming and provides marginal farmers better livelihood opportunities.
Upon completion of the training program, SM Foundation organizes a harvest festival with the aim of distributing the produce in SM Supermalls where SM suppliers participate in purchasing the products. Prime fruits and vegetables include cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, papaya, cherry tomato, eggplant and squash, among others.
The training has since produced a total of 814 graduates in various KSK sites including Bacolod City in Negros Occidental, Sta Rita in Pampanga, Marilog in Davao City, Pagbilao in Quezon, Sta. Rosa in Laguna, and Rosales in Pangasinan.
This year, the KSK Farmer's Training program will also be conducted in Cavite, Batangas, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Pampanga and Laguna.

bobbymay74 May 27th, 2009, 02:40 AM Daet, Camarines Norte (25 May) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Bicol regional office has already lined up programs on agricultural development for the province of Camarines Norte under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).
Dr.

This is very important that Camarines Norte needs to top " AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT ", seens Pineapple Export is doing well. More agricultural extension is needed for other agri-products.

Vegetable growing is a profitable business. Ms Salve Daza (third from left) of Inapatan, Nabua is one of the cooperators of the Enhanced Vegetable production project of DA and LGU Nabua. She planted eggplant, hot pepper and squash. She is now marketing her produce and expanded her plantation to the nearby lot, this time, using the protective culture technology. Also in photo from left Municipal Agriculturist Jessie Arnel Duran, lady agriculture technicians of Nabua and HVCC Regional coordinator Rosita Imperial (fourth from left).
Food production should be given top priority by our LGU officials as we foresee an impending food crisis due to climate change. This is a very noble move being done by local government of Nabua which should be emulated by the rest of Bicol and the whole country. As one of the most depressed region in the country Bicol should be doing things like this to make it self-sufficient and even export the goods to Metro Manila or the Visayas. As shown in the pictures here in this thread, it is glad to know that we can also grow vegeta bles that we thought can only be grown in Baguio. Keep up the good work Nabuenos.

Construction of Honda Motors Naga will apparently start on June next month.
The people manning their booth are from Batangas and they're not sure of the location yet but apparently it would be located at the Diversion Road.
This would be the ninth car dealership in the city after Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Isuzu, Ford, Suzuki, Hyundai and Kia.

May 10, 2009
LEGAZPI CITY, May 10 (PNA) – The Philippine National Railways (PNR) management announced Wednesday that construction of new central station in Naga city to serve as railway terminal in Bicol is expected to be completed before the end of 2009.
Nicolas Beda Priela, Private Sector Consultant To the PNR, told members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) during the full council meeting that repair and rehabilitation of rail tracks and bridges were on-going.
He said the PNR south rail rehabilitation and reopening of Manila-Bicol line include the refurbishing of two locomotive engines and five passenger coaches stranded at the PNR Naga Station since Typhoons Milenyo and Reming in 2006 and repair of selected train stations between the coverage area.
Other works to be undertaken for the reopening of the Manila-Bicol line were the replacement of rotten wooden ties with concrete ties, replacement of rotten bridge and switch ties, widening of embankments, construction of concrete lined ditch canals, refurbishment of rolling stocks including locomotive engines, passenger coaches as well as freight cars.
“Our target completion will be on December 2009 and target full operation is on May 2010,” Priela said.
For the partial mechanization of track maintenance, the management will also implement full computerization of all PNR operational systems procedures.
On the initial stage were the improvement and strengthening of two major bridges and 7 minor bridges; Improvement of drainage system;
Provision of protection devices in 46 road-rail level crossings; rehabilitation of stations and flag stops;
Rehabilitation of signaling and communication equipment and facilities, and acquisition of 15 train sets.
“All these are now on its initial stage,” Priela said.
He also said that upgrading and implementation of the south rail and Sorsogon Extension Project Phase 1-A are included in the major short term rehabilitation plan of the PNR Bicol line.
The component of south rail-Sorsogon Extension Project include: a) upgrading from rehabilitation of the existing narrow gauge rail to establishment of new standard gauge rail tracks along side the existing Manila-Bicol line; b) implementation of the upgraded project with the new standard gauge rail for the high speed passenger train service. I think this is great! If you guys read the Philippine Railways Thread... you will know why. This will help the accessibility of Naga and suffice the the inequities of Naga airport until i gets upgraded or something. Central Terminal! That sounds BIG!
Also a possibility of a High Speed Rail! Siram Sana!

The proximity and accessibility has been always the bases of the PNR i guess, that's why they have chosen Naga City as the home of its central station. Given the fact that Naga is the most progressive among Bicol's seven cities.

Situated in the southern most part of the island of Luzon, the Camarines Sur is about 377 kilometers away from Manila, which is about eight to ten hours by land and forty-five minutes by plane.
Now that you know the reasons why you should go to Camarines Sur, read more as we give you a little tour to one place where heritage blends well with modern amenities.
TRAVEL THROUGH HISTORY
Rudyard Kipling, a British author and poet once said, “The first condition of understanding a foreign country is to smell it,” true enough, and what better ways to do it is visiting museums or ancient relics that reflects the place’s history.
MUSEO DEL SEMINARIO CONCILIAR DE NUEVA CACERES
If you want to learn more about Naga city’s rich and colorful past, you should pay a visit to the Museo Del Seminario Conciliar De Nueva Caceres. Declared a national historical landmark on September 9, 1988, the museum is nestled at the Metropolitan Cathedral Compound in Naga City, it is a place where you could discover the values of pre-historic and Spanish time. The museum is divided into two parts: The Ecclesiastical Section and the Achaeological Section.
http://manilabulletintravel.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/ecclessial.jpg?w=300&h=219
Some of the items found in the ecclesiastical section of the museum was actually used in the past. This unique burial urn cover is said to confirm the Ibalon’s epic. Another proof of sun worship was exhibited in the archaeological section of the museum.
THE ECCLESIASTICAL SECTION
Here is where they display the artifacts and regalia concerning the spiritual history of Bicol Region, it also exhibited the memorabilia of prominent Bicolano bishops and priests, old scholastic records and archival materials confirming the Bicolanos knowledge about religion, and other pieces that serves as a reminder of the Christian heritage of the Filipinos.
THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SECTION
No less important and interesting is the Archaeological Room found in the Museo Del Seminario Conciliar De Nueva Caceres. This section contains a collection of Nagueño achaeologist Mr. Ermelo N. Almeda of Pre-Christian artifacts of Neolithic Stone Age unearthed mostly in the Bicol region. One thing that will surely creep you out at the same time amaze you would be the burial jars and covers which reveal the animistic beliefs of our ancient people.

It houses archaeological, ethnographical, historical and ecclesiastical collections relating to the Bicol region. The musuem is devided into four sections: the Central Gallery, which contains the pictorial evolution of Nueva Caceres from a college into a university; Filipiniana, which houses items and artifacts about the Philippine history under four periods; Archival Library which covers valuable materials like Bicolandia’s history, culture and writings; and the founder’s Memorabilia. In it you will see the collection of the founder of the University of Nueva Caceres, Don Jaime Hernandez of items focusing on his achievements, created to give honor to his outstanding leadership and service.
FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Millions of people from around the world enjoy the flavor and flair spicy food brings. In the Bicol Region, it is one cuisine that they are very proud of. It doesn’t only tickles one’s appetite and brings delight to the bone but according to studies it is also good for speeding up metabolism. Here are some restaurants where you could enjoy the authentic Bicolandia cuisine.

Yeah, right...and Taal Volcano is located on Manila Bay, right in front of Intramuros, within wakeboarding distance of Rizal Park, the Pasig River and Malacanang. It seems Jessie Marie Morqueda has skipped too many Geography classes in favour of "summer escapades with her buddies".

ayawu May 29th, 2009, 07:04 AM How if they pursued the merging of the other Municipalities? Does the combined population will qualify into a Highly Urbanized City?
good question! if the population combined will reach 250,000, that could be a possibility. but i think the congress is making plans of not letting the creation of new HUCs, cities, towns, and barangays be way too fast.
Sind24 May 29th, 2009, 07:24 AM for cities:
(basis was the Average Annual Income from calendar years 2004-2007 as certified by the Commission on Audit)
1. Naga City - 366.972 million (2nd class)
2. Legazpi City - 347.803 million (2nd class)
3. Sorsogon City - 285.595 million (3rd class)
4. Ligao City - 232.593 million (4th class)
5. Masbate City - 210.246 million (4th class)
6. Iriga City - 209.556 million (4th class)
7. Tabaco City - 202.515 million (4th class)
We can conclude from these set of details that IRA has the biggest share in Other Income and Other Income has the biggest share in the total income of Legazpi city. It's the same as in Ligao cities and probably all other cities as well. If you want, you can verify it at http://www.coa.gov.ph/Audit/AAR.htm.
If the internal revenue allotment constitutes the biggest part in the total income of the cities; then it could have been the reason for the low income of iriga city in comparison with the new cities. AFAIK IRA's are computed based from the population and the size of the LGU.
iriga and tabaco are the next smallest cities in bicol after naga. Iriga also has the smallest city population in bicol being the only city in bicol with less than 100 000 population. Sorsogon and Ligao on the other hand, are the two biggest cities in bicol and both also have a bigger population of more than a hundred thousand. So maybe iriga isn't really trailing behind.
ayawu May 29th, 2009, 07:29 AM ^^correct assessment, sind! Iriga's not really poor. It just so happens that it is small and has small population. what i admire about it is its ability to improve its facilities and infrastructures despite its low income.
axel(08)brixx May 29th, 2009, 07:40 AM Thanks sir..!! yup I heard that there is an issue regarding that matter ..sometimes there is fast/easy processing/creation a cities. district etc. before. Due to this many were complaining either Politician and ordinary people. look what happened in Quezon Province dba nanaig ang gusto ng mga tao!!
Parang trabaho lang or pag - eenrol basta malakas ang backer mo city ka na even your not really qualified technically hehehehe. But not in case of Naga City as well as the other Cities...Remember in our History Naga City is one of the original 5 Cities founded by the Spaniard. Noon pa man maunlad na at ngayon modernong panahon mas umunlad pa!!
Kung ako saindo orolian na ta sa Naga Duman na kita magpa araki ta nganing magdakol ang populasyon kan syudad ta hehehehe

IMO: for the fast nine years of GMA administration, naga city leadership is known with the side opposition ,the very reason why more important infrastructure skips to this city,Infra as a requirements for HUC maybe the city is idle. What was left is i think are its people who strive hard on its own with blood and sweet to achieve progress in one derection.Though im not resident of this city as a Bicolano im not hiding envy of what is the city having in derection.Aiming for that milestone is an achievement that true bicolano should be proud of.

AFAIK there was no congressional measure's yet prohibting merger of any LGU's and it happens in other LGU so it is still possible for Naga City
http://www.naga.gov.ph/cityprofile/cp_dem_pop1.pdf <<<------how possible it is in 5 years by a merger.:)

CONSTRUCTION ON GOING:
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/6807/pnr9.jpg
FORMER BUILDING IS TOTALLY DEMOLISHED

IT WILL BE FINISHED AROUND SEPTEMBER THIS YEAR

THE DEMOLITION OF THE FORMER BUILDING ALSO MARKS THE 90 YEARS OF PNR-NAGA WAS FOUNDED.

IT IS JUST HARD TO ACCEPT, THE TOTAL DEMOLITION OF THE OLD PNR BUILDING. IT WAS PART OF OUR RICH HERITAGE. IN MY OPINION, THE NEW CONSTRUCTION SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AS TO REHABILITATE THE FORMER WITHOUT DESTROYING THE OLD DESIGN BUT IMPROVE IT'S OUTLOOK AND MIX IT FROM A CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE, THIS IS THE LATEST TREND IN ARCHITECTURE REHABILITATION.
THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A PART OF TOURISM IN A WAY. WE CAN CALL IT "A PNR MUSEUM":ohno:
WE WILL NEVER SEE LIKE THIS IN OUR TIME

THE RENDERING: IT IS NOT TABUCO, BUT UNDER BARANGAY TRIANGULO

IT WOULD BE NICE, IF YOU CAN MAKE ANY COMMENT ON THIS:)

good question! if the population combined will reach 250,000, that could be a possibility. but i think the congress is making plans of not letting the creation of new HUCs, cities, towns, and barangays be way too fast.
Tacloban City was the last one to be converted as a HUC last December 2008. Again, 200,000 population count is needed to be an HUC.
maybe we should bring this to the attention of their publishing editor hehe
hope you take the initiative po...

jef_xavier May 29th, 2009, 07:43 PM flag-down (first 500 meters) = 30 php

Why did they not simply name it Toyota Naga? Toyota of the South is too long.
Honda na lang kumpleto na tayo ....:banana::banana:
kevinb May 30th, 2009, 04:04 AM Oh.Em.Gee. I don't like the Toyota of the South. It is soooo blandly-designed to the point that it's designed by someone who just creates boxes. The font of the "The Toyota of the South," to some extent, has been like changed from the original Monotype Corsiva font face to appear as something different. Ugh! I just don't like it! I like Hyundai's and Mitsubishi's show rooms better than this. Toyota is the largest car maker in the world and they came up with this king of tacky design. Pathetic.
And I just saw the taxis. I thought they were sedans, SUVs pala. I don't hate it. I also don't like it. Sakto lang. At least we have 30 taxis now. And as someone put it, PhP30 should just be the flag down rate. Incremental increase of fare is at PhP2.50 per I-don't-know meters.:D
I hope someone here divulges the Honda Naga showroom's blueprint. I just hope Honda Naga's design will be better. I f*cking hate Toyota's design.
kevinb May 30th, 2009, 04:06 AM the requirement for creating congressional district in cities and provinces is just the same...250,000 population count..that's per local government code of 1991.
fil, maybe you were referring to one of the requirements on the conversion of a component into a highly urbanized city which is 200,000 population count....
This is correct. A city can be classified as an HUC when it reaches the income requirement, which I forgot, AND a total city population of 200,000. It the HUC wants to have a representative in the Lower House, it should reach 250,000 of population and someone has to author it first.

Best of all, he expressed support for a proposal to leverage the phenomenal success of Naga and Camarines Sur to help its twin province Camarines Norte in a joint tourism drive in the future. We agreed on taking his popular slogan “Cam South, Cam Sur” to the next level and encompass the entire Camarines with “Cam Sur, Cam North. Cam One (One Camarines), Cam All!” This can promote the attractions of both provinces – Naga’s Penafrancia Festival, CWC Competitions, Caramoan Island, Dolphin Watching and the new sites in the future which can be complemented by Camarines Norte’s offerings such as the Pinyasan Festival originally introduced by Mayor Tito Sarion as a tribute to the sweet Formosa variety, Pacific ocean surfing on Bagasbas beach, the Apuao Grande island (with its own airstrip, executive golf course, mangrove swamps and wild boars) which is presently on sale for interested foreign investors, the Calaguas Group of islands that boast of white sandy beaches allegedly even purer than Boracay. garzland May 30th, 2009, 02:02 PM ^^That's nice! CamNorte has the lowest tourist arrivals, I think, so, most probably with the merging of CamNorte and Sur would do a lot for both and most especially for CamNorte. Calaguas Group of Islands is a very promising tourist destination in CamNorte.

Because it is under TOYOTA BATANGAS, not like Mitsubishi and Hundai Motors-Naga, which are directly under Caleb Motor Corporation, an authorized dealer of both Car Company. But Toyota of the South is an extention of Toyota Batangas. The Toyota Philippines under the major holder of Mr. George TY- Metrobank. hasn't acquired any "strategic" lot at the moment to set up as Toyota Naga branch, at present Toyota Batangas can operate.

yeah, that's what i mean....I stand corrected...previously, i said flatdown rate, blueguy is right, flagdown rate is the correct term.
Why did they not simply name it Toyota Naga? Toyota of the South is too long.
This implies that there will be only one Toyota office in Bicol. Nothing more.
This is correct. A city can be classified as an HUC when it reaches the income requirement, which I forgot, AND a total city population of 200,000. It the HUC wants to have a representative in the Lower House, it should reach 250,000 of population and someone has to author it first.

hi Sir Sind! its good to know that the administration of Gov.J Typoco is collaborating with sister LGU .In terms of tourism the two Camarines has bountiful to endless potential ,But big part still lay idle untaped no infrastructure and the main reason why our region is still economically laggard than those of region in the Visayas ,the main hindrance IMO: mainly i think is politics, senseless political accommodation.

hakz2007 May 31st, 2009, 05:54 AM MANILA, Philippines—Senator Richard J. Gordon wants to add a ninth ray to the sun in the Philippine flag to symbolize the Muslims who fought against foreign invaders.
“Our national flag not only represents principles of sovereignty and solidarity of the Philippine nation, but also embodies the ideals and traditions of the Filipino people developed over the course of national history,” he said in a statement.
Gordon said the Philippine flag symbolizes the nation’s struggle for independence and victory against foreign colonizers.
The three stars in the flag represent the three major geographical divisions of the country: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao; while the eight rays of the sun represent the eight provinces that revolted against the Spanish regime: Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac.
Gordon said that behind the stories of the most celebrated names of national heroes who fought for our independence lie the stories of our mostly-forgotten Muslim heroes, including Lapu-Lapu, Sultan Kudarat, and Rajah Sulayman, who displayed courage and integrity.
The senator explained that this is the reason he proposed to add a ninth ray to the sun in the Philippine flag—to acknowledge the courage and integrity of Muslim Filipinos who fought for the nation’s independence.
“Our Muslim heroes left an imprint on national history that, at the very least, must be given due recognition in the most heraldic item of national importance—the Philippine flag,” he said.
Gordon authored Senate Bill 2590, which proposes that the rays of the sun on the Philippine flag be increased from eight to nine, to symbolize the community of Muslim leaders who defended the country from foreign invasion.
“By adding a ninth ray in the sun to represent our Muslim brothers, I think we make ourselves one with them. They are the Filipinos who were very successful in thwarting colonialism in our country,” Gordon said.
hakz2007 May 31st, 2009, 06:01 AM Daet, Camarines Norte (29 May) -- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has conducted an orientation and created a task force for the Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases particularly now the Influenza A (H1N1) virus that scare people all over the world, held Monday at the Provincial Hospital here.
Dr. Arnulfo Salagoste, Camarines Norte provincial health officer, said that the province should be ready at all times from the threat of AH1N1.
"PHO preparations are already underway, setting up the quarantine and isolation areas for suspected Influenza A victims as well as training of health personnel that will respond to reported cases and provide medical attention," he explained.
Dr. Jocelyn Iraola MD, MPH of the Department of Health (DOH) explained that AH1N1 is caused by a novel strain that resulted from the re-assortment of 4 viruses from pigs, human and birds.
She elaborated the signs and symptoms is similar to regular flu such as fever, headache, fatigue, lack of appetite, runny nose, sore throat, cough, vomiting or nausea and diarrhea.
"Usually, the persons infected by AH1N1 are those who traveled in countries affected by the said virus and locals who had contact with the infected individuals," she noted.
She said that AH1N1 now is pandemic in progress and in Phase 6 according to the World Health Organizations (WHO).
She also urged the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to activate the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTS) in the province to monitor persons who came from other countries.
Dr. stressed that they are prepared on what to do in case there will be suspected case here wherein their Provincial Epidemiology Unit will refer the case to the Bicol Medical Center for initial detection and in turn will refer case to the Research for Tropical Medicine (RITM) or to the San Lazaro Hospital for proper actions.

MANILA, Philippines—Senator Richard J.
Gordon said that behind the stories of the most celebrated names of national heroes who fought for our independence lie the stories of our mostly-forgotten Muslim heroes, including Lapu-Lapu, Sultan Kudarat, and Rajah Sulayman, who displayed courage and integrity.

hakz2007 May 31st, 2009, 09:04 AM http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm71/federalpinoy/9thray-1.jpg
why don't they add another star to represent Sabah also...Sabah is an integral part of the Philippine territory but being leased by Malaysia for less than 100,000 pesos a year!
Sind24 May 31st, 2009, 09:09 AM why don't they just change the meaning of the eight rays into the group of people comprising the Philippines (ilocanos, ilonggos, bicolanos, sugbuanon, warays, etc...)
Are you referring to me, Sind? Sorry. I'm not who you think I am. And it was my opinion I stated. I just thought it was bland. That's it. They should've came up with something better. They're Toyota anyways. :)
Nope, It was a reply to Fred_y, a troll, perhaps in this thread. Though i'm not against with his negative remarks on the showroom, I find his posts offending to some forumers in this thread. He seemed to hate this thread and the forumers. Anyway, the mod already deleted his posts.
fred_y May 31st, 2009, 09:29 AM double post:)
fred_y May 31st, 2009, 09:36 AM Oh.Em.Gee. Pathetic. I f*cking hate Toyota's design.

A Bulgarian national competing in hit reality show "Survivor" died after suffering from cardiac arrest in Caramoan, Camarines Sur, police said Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Moncho Vodnicharov, 53. They said the incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. Saturday at the famous Gotta Beach Resort.
"After performing an activity as part of the contest, [Vodnicharov] suffered cardiac arrest that resulted in his instant death," said Inspector Ayn Natuel.
The cause of death was confirmed by Filipino doctor Geniveive Go and Bulgarian physician Nicolay Niekov who were present in the set. The doctors said it was possible that the victim was not able to endure the still undisclosed challenge.
Vodnicharov's remains are set to be airlifted to Manila, according to Natuel.
According to Wikipedia, "Survivor" contestants are isolated in a remote location where they compete against each other for cash and other prizes.
They must fend for food, water, fire, and shelter for themselves while competing in challenges to earn rewards and immunity from being voted off. Most of constestants have been eliminated due to medical reasons.

SURVIVOR SHOT HERE THREE TIMES (http://travel.asiaone.com/Travel/Places%2B%2526%2BInterests/Region/Asia/Story/A1Story20090528-144558.html)
Caramoan Peninsula, Philippines
The south-eastern islands of the Caramoan Peninsula, 318km from Manila, is so gorgeous that it has been chosen thrice as the location for the French, Israeli and Bulgarian versions of the reality television show Survivor.
Mr Roger Reyes, owner of Villa Juliana Inn at Caramoan, says: "The natural rock formations are beautiful. Caramoan is a unique place."
He adds that the waters are clear blue, and the sand pristine-white because it has been "cleaned by the ocean".
But the 65-year-old Caramoan native says tourism on the island is still in its infancy.
So if you are interested in snorkelling and diving, bring your own gear as rental of such equipment is currently not available. However, there are boats to take you to explore the islands in the peninsula.
Matukad Island is full of sharp and layered rock formations while the mysterious Tayak Island has a lagoon that sits smack in the middle of the island.
If you plan to visit Caramoan Town to view the potentially active Mount Isarog, bear in mind that shops close at 5pm.
Where to stay: Villa Juliana Inn, which offers air-conditioned rooms with mountain views (from 750 pesos or $23 a person). Television and private showers are available. La Casa Roa Hostel has homey rooms with air-conditioning (from 700 pesos) and good food.
Getting there: Singapore Airlines flies direct ($440) to Manila, where you take a Philippine Airlines domestic transfer (from $76.50) to Naga City. At Naga City Central Bus Terminal, take a 11/2-hour van shuttle (75 pesos) or two-hour jeepney ride (60 pesos) to Sabang port. Finally, a two-hour boat ride (100 pesos) will take you to Guijalo port at Caramoan.
Pay: About $590.50 a person

gurugeri June 1st, 2009, 07:51 AM Hi, guys! Was at SM Naga yesterday and two days ago, hehehe! Yung una, I just arrived from Baguio, whose SM branch I also visited. Anyway, I had the time before coming back to Goa so I decided to get inside the mall. I love the fact that it has a lot of space. Maluwag, hindi ka mababangga. I loved the supermarket, especially the fruits and vegetables section (although I didn't buy anything). The Department Store was the busiest section, was tempted to buy shoes, but I controlled myself.
The second day, yesterday, I bought three items amounting to--ah basta naubos yung 13th month pay ko plus divident ng school cooperative namin, so bahala na kayo mag-imagine what I bought. Thanks to SM Naga kasi wala akong nakita sa Jayson Marketing (sa Legazpi meron kaso ang layo ibibyahe ko pa yung mga binili ko from Legazpi to Goa) so I went to SM, where the unit I was looking for was out of stock but where I saw another unit which is so much better that I am enjoying it right now. Hehehe!
I also ate at that small food stall at the supermarket section, bought a lot of bread (ako lang bumibili nagpapalakpak na yung dalawang tindera kasi matumal daw) na naubos ko agad. Hahaha!
Ang daming BDO atms, which was a help to me, when I was to buy the expensive items.
Yung ibang sections halos walang tao. Was to watch a movie sana kaso mas excited akong umuwi at ma-enjoy yung binili ko.
But generally, the mall is great!

axel(08)brixx June 1st, 2009, 07:58 AM Hi, guys!
I know kung ano binili mo sir, Binalikan mo yun shoes then bumili ka rin ng bagong polo shirt after that nag Grocery ka .... sana may tumama man lang sa mga sinabi ko T_T

Hahaha! Which goes to show na nagbebenta na ng shoes ang Jayson Marketing. Hahaha! Wrong guess!

Bulgarian Survivor contestant dies on location
A Bulgarian contestant of the reality show Survivor died of a heart failure on the afternoon of May 30.
Bulgarian contestant Noncho Vodenicharov, aged 53 and mayor of Radnevo, suffered a cardiac arrest after participating in strenuous activities at Gota Beach Resort in Camaroan town, where the show was being shot, Philippine police said.
No details about the challenge Vodenicharov participated in were released.
Vodenicharov died on the spot and his remains had been airlifted to Manilla, the police statement said.

Two doctors at the set confirmed the cause of his death, the police statement said.
Co-producer for the Bulgarian version of Survivor, actor Lyubomir Neykov, told Darik radio a doctor examined all participants before each episode and had found nothing wrong with Vodenicharov.
On May 31, the municipal council of Radnevo announced a five-day mourning period starting on June 1.

Endo is shorthand for "end of contract," or what temp workers call their last day of work until the next gig comes along. It's an apt metaphor for people with commitment issues, like Leo (Jason Abalos), who hops from one woman to the next as fleetingly as he does jobs in fast food joints, groceries and department stores. read more

Living for about four years in Japan, one Filipina has grown quite tired of the random and frequent questioning of the immigration police about her visa status. One day, she gets off at Shinagawa train station (the stop closest to the city's busiest immigration office) to conduct a small social experiment. This one-time performance/experiment was constrained by the use of a single roll of 8mm film which runs for only three minutes.

It's like this. I am openly gay, and Fil and Randism were trying to make fun of my sentence, "I am enjoying it right now" or maybe trying to be prejudicial against me being gay. Ayun yun.
