This open letter dwells on infirmity of lack of due public consultations on the part of the house committee in approving this proposed partition at the house level. At this juncture, this is no merit anymore. The Senate out of courtesy to the lower house which is its co-equal will not pass upon the regularity of the passage of the proposed measure. Any procedural lapses can be questioned in the Supreme Court later on.

So the argument now should be whether it is more beneficial to partition the province or not. Unfortunately, i have not heard or read of good literature expounding on its benefits or evils. Neither the public hearing at the Naga Coliseum helped the Senate Committee to decide wisely on the merits of the creation of the new province. What it was showed is the hideous character of the father and son who due to whatever obtaining personal reasons between them exchanged barbs in front of 12,000 people to be witnessed later on by millions on TV and the internet courtesy of You Tube.

My humble stand on this issue until this moment is still no to the partition since I have not seen any reason to do otherwise. That Partido District does not progress under the present regime is not the right reason. That is precisely why we have elections to choose leaders who can deliver progress.

I think they have to occupy another lot beside the hotel for landscaping and parking areas...The area is not suitable for a hotel business; thus, establishing landscaped areas will make it highly desirable.

If a remember it right, it was eyed to house a casino in Naga but it was opposed, as usual by the Church. I think, its about time that Naga be open to casino operation. Undoubtedly, Naga is becoming a metropolis and a favorite tourists destination. And a casino will definitely be an added facility to cater to the needs of these visitors. :)

There's an on-going construction but a TRO put a halt on the project.

I hope TV5 still pursue with this project despite of still lagging behind and hounded by financial woes.

Over at GNN 48 Naga Kapihan portion, representatives from the City Market was interviewed and one of the topics was the application of 2 more national brand malls aside from Puregold to operate within CBD1 which the group strongly opposed.

It was noted in the discussion that the local sectors specially those enterprises operating CBD1 is ONLY open for such businesses IF it will be located outside the CBD1 proper. They mentioned the stretch of Almeda highway as the best location.

Also, one of the concerns raised was the effect on the local suppliers once Puregold Centro operates. Before, suppliers of Robertson Centro are mostly local which includes sugar, poultry products and other locally produced. But with the advent of Puregold in Centro, it will not only affect those local suppliers but also those SME's which are the direct distributor in most sari-sari stores due to Puregold's wholesale discounts and promos which our local suppliers cannot match.

I think, those points raised by the group are valid.

As to what malls trying penetrate in the centro proper, they did not divulge any info.

Of course we want businesses to come to Naga, invited or simply believe for bright business prospeccts in Naga. But we want them to be outside the old centro. The place is simply too congested to accommodate facilities for the comfort of Naguenos and their visitors.

Naga's centro is now too chaotic anytime of the day. Allowing more new businesses that tends to attract more pedestrian and vehicular traffics in and around Centro will eventually result to a daily pandemonium in the area. It is not designed for today's city and there is not enough financial capability to upgrade and reinvent it. :)

How much more if these malls will be constructed within CBD 1?

Over at GNN 48 Naga Kapihan portion, representatives from the City Market was interviewed and one of the topics was the application of 2 more national brand malls aside from Puregold to operate within CBD1 which the group strongly opposed.

It was noted in the discussion that the local sectors specially those enterprises operating CBD1 is ONLY open for such businesses IF it will be located outside the CBD1 proper. They mentioned the stretch of Almeda highway as the best location.

Also, one of the concerns raised was the effect on the local suppliers once Puregold Centro operates. Before, suppliers of Robertson Centro are mostly local which includes sugar, poultry products and other locally produced. But with the advent of Puregold in Centro, it will not only affect those local suppliers but also those SME's which are the direct distributor in most sari-sari stores due to Puregold's wholesale discounts and promos which our local suppliers cannot match.

I think, those points raised by the group are valid.

As to what malls trying penetrate in the centro proper, they did not divulge any info.

wow, this is surely one good find, kiasog.

perhaps Stonehouse should consider developing a full-blown butterfly garden-nursery. couples can source their wedding butterflies there so there's no need to get them all the way from laguna or bulacan, for example.

Tropical depression 'Helen' to bring widespread rains over Bicol

(Updated 12:02 a.m., 13 August 2012) The active low pressure area east of the Philippines has developed into a tropical depression, which is expected to bring “widespread rains” over the Bicol region, the state weather bureau said Sunday.

In its 11 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said tropical depression "Helen" was last spotted 690 kilometers east of Casiguran town in Aurora province.

The new cyclone is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, and is moving slowly in the west northwest direction at 11 kilometers per hour, PAGASA said.

It is expected to be 590 kilometers east northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan by Monday evening.

No public storm warning has been raised as of posting time, but PAGASA warned of widespread rains over the region that may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

The state weather bureau also said that Helen is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring “heavy to intense” rainfall of 10 to 20 millimeters per hour over southern Luzon and western portions of Visayas and Mindanao.

The new weather disturbance came less than a week after the southwest monsoon, enhanced by a cyclone near Taiwan, dumped unprecedented volumes of rain over Metro Manila and parts of Luzon.

Heavy flooding and landslides caused by the monsoon rains have already claimed the lives of 85 persons, based on the latest data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). — BM/DVM, GMA News

kalunggay is also an alternative if sili leaves are not available.

sayote is definitely a good sub; readily available than the papaya...we have used kalunggay (more often in frozen form)...found that spinach is just as good!!!

garo nag-uran man pag-bike ninda kaya napalsok ang sigarilyo kang nakapulang t-shirt hehe...

health and fitness has become a more conscious goal for many. quite encouraging to see the many regular bikers and joggers in the basilica and cathedral grounds, the road leading to the city's upland barangays, etc

sayote is definitely a good sub; readily available than the papaya...we have used kalunggay (more often in frozen form)...found that spinach is just as good!!!

:cheers: sabagay diyan saindo, madali man makua ang kadaklan na rekado o berdura na ini. good thing there's spinach-- in many ways our savior when kangkong et alii are not available.

have heard someone drying spinach in the sun (like natong/ katnga/ gabi) and then cooking it with coco cream!

ABC Development president Ray Espinosa has said the TV network is set to launch five more regional stations this year to fully cover TV audiences in national urban areas.

Espinosa revealed three of the five areas—-Naga, Batangas, and Tarlac—-where TV5 is set to launch regional broadcast stations in the next few months.

TV5 was formally launched in Cebu in June following the TV network’s regional rollouts in Pangasinan in February and in Davao in March

Clemetine's is a great place. food is really good! the owner is a foodie herself who cooks very well, Clemen Raneses. she majored in one of the food sciences and for many, many years managed the campus caf at the ateneo. she fed hundreds of us in our high school and college years!

her cakes, salads, pastas, meats, desserts are great. my family is a well-pleased customer that we asked Clem to be the caterer for my thanksgiving Mass lunch when i got ordained a few years ago :)

Building a stadium that will serve as a training center of our athletes is the best solution to achieve a better performance of Filipino athletes

good idea.

as a starter, perhaps the present Naga City Sports Complex in Pacol can be utilized more. some space can be developed and more facilities added.

i understand that the city's swim team does regular training there, at the Olympic-sized pool.

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine STAR-Mathematics Trainers Guild (MTG) Philippines' 7th Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge is on.

Answer and submit cut-outs of at least 20 original issues of Sudoku puzzles published in The Philippine STAR from August 15, 2012 to October 12, 2012.

Entries should be received no later than October 9, 2012. Qualified participants to the Elimination Round will be announced in The Philippine STAR and in the MTG website.

Entries should be sent to the nearest MTG Center Coordinator where the elimination round will be held. Indicate your name, age, birth date, address, contact no./e-mail, category and affix your signature to it.

Bryan releases second album
August 13, 2012

ARMED with talent and looks to boot, singing heartthrob Bryan Termulo releases his sophomore album under BWB Records and Music Productions. The eight-track album called “Hanggang Ngayon” is composed of six originals and two cover songs (“Dadalhin” and Pagdating Ng Panahon”). He just released the music video of “Hanggang Ngayon” with Binibining Pilipinas 2012 Finalist MJ Lastimosda as leading lady.

sayote is definitely a good sub; readily available than the papaya...we have used kalunggay (more often in frozen form)...found that spinach is just as good!!!

I was amazed to discover that kalunggay abounds here in the desert of Al Ain. I am not sure if the Filipinos brought the first malunggay here. It seems to be utiquitous here. Kaya takot magpahiling ang mga pating digdi sa mga pinoy. They know that pinoys here are well armed with kalunggay. :lol:

How's the Naga City Sports Complex status? Is it well-maintained?

Compare to Pili Stadium, Metro Naga Sports Complex is well-maintained. The stadium has regular visitors from Ateneo High School and residents of Ayala Avida.

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Aug. 13 (PIA) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) here is inviting all heads of government offices in the province to attend the 2nd Luzon Convention of Human Resource Management Practitioners (HRMPs) to be held at Avenue Plaza Hotel in Naga City on October 2-4.

The invitation was extended by CSC Cordillera Administrative Region Director Fernando Porio to all interested heads of national government agencies, local government units and state universities of Ifugao for the three -day activity with the theme, “Enabling HRMPs to Respond Strategically to the Challenges of the 21st Century.”

The convention aims to recognize the HRMPs as able partners of the CSC in maintaining responsiveness and achieving excellence in public service; provide the practitioners with learning to sustain psychological and emotional well-being; and serve as the bedrock to their capacities to respond to human resource challenges.
