View Full Version : Thanksgiving Tower, Dallas
james2390 July 29th, 2003, 08:00 AM Thanksgiving Tower - Dallas, TX
1982
50 floors
196.5 meters
Rising from the center of downtown, the 50-story Thanksgiving Tower is located on Elm Street. On the North side across Pacific Avenue, the tower faces Thanks-Giving Square for which the tower is named. The office tower has a distinctive cut back exterior design and clad in olive black reflective glass; the building's design is a departure from common rectangular office. The tower was built in a tight location between two other high-rises, and the cut back design was essential to reduce the size of the tower. The dark glass band spanning completely around the 48th floor near the top of the tower features floor to ceiling windows and represents the Tower Club famous for weddings, private parties and corporate events. The tower includes access to shops and restaurants through the underground tunnel network and a six-level underground parking garage is located directly beneath the office building.

Its tall and massive, but too oppressive. Looks like an inferior version of the IDS Tower in Minneapolis.
SteelCity32 July 30th, 2003, 12:45 AM I like the glassy facade. 7/10
BGT August 1st, 2003, 10:20 PM It looks like the one in Minnesota. 8/10

Yeah, I hear that a lot. By the way, the stripe at the top is glass with less coating on it, for the Bank Club I believe. One of those fancy clubs that rich executvies go to, anyhow.
I've never really card that much about the building to bein with, so thinking about it, I guess it's okay. 7.5

SChristopher October 22nd, 2004, 09:59 PM Very plain glass building that reminds Dallas inhabitants of the 80's daily....looks too suburban, too cheap and too tall for that mirror material 4/10.

eweezerinc September 10th, 2005, 04:19 PM No no no very much a "seen one, seen em all" type of building. I am so unimpressed.
Plenty of suburban buildings that look just like it so it's a big yawner for me and even as I take a long look at it, I grow to nearly hate it. It's just a really big glossy window. Kinda makes me sick that something so big was made into just a window with some cut corners.
Oh yeah, 5/10
