Well we talked so much about buses now it's time to show what possibilities you have in your city. I'll begin with mine but be carefull, it is too complicated :D

Well first we've got the buses which belong to the municipality of Istanbul. Most of them are green, the older ones are still red/white.

The municipality owns:

Mercedes Citaros:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/9554/citaro1es7.jpg

and articulated ones:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/6963/mustafanoyan05dec13066aon7.jpg

New Mercedes Capacity arrived yesterday:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/8489/capapf5.jpg

then the municipality has got Mercedes Conectos in both versions:
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/1625/conecto1xl5.jpg

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/4045/conecto2gk3.jpg

The municipality has got Ikarus as well. Ikarus Ikarus... :D Is there any EE city without them? :D

Our Ikraus are pimiped by Xzibit now :D

http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/4906/ikarus2tm7.jpg

Also some MANs:
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/9425/mandm6.jpg

This one is from 1985!
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/4695/man2hi9.jpg

and some Berkhoff:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/1669/berkhoffhn1.jpg

and DAF:
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/563/dafcy4.jpg

Well this was just the fleet of the municipality! There is also one private company ÖHO which has buses. Some years ago they had different tickets but now they have the same as other buses/metro/tram etc.. but they have got a different colour.

ÖHO buses MAN, Mercedes, DAF, BMC, Hyundai etc..
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/3905/ohamanfn7.jpg

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/6609/ohaconectook0.jpg

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/2185/ohanexi8.jpg

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/6752/ohabmcbz4.jpg

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/2434/ohahundaixo4.jpg

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/666/utkuardicp1030705tr3.jpg

http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/7453/ohalostez7.jpg

Well that's all with the buses but we've got "Dolmus" It's a minibus without stations. You can get on wherever you want to. There is no ticket for those, you pay cash. Do you have something similar?

Dolmus:
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/4130/dolmus2sx9.jpg

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9052/dolmussu9.jpg

Well taxi is clear:
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/4528/tuncgalatakoprusundetakhv3.jpg

Well there is a metro:
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/8121/metro2fm8.jpg

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/7253/metrowp1.jpg

but again there are 2 different type of metros. One is called metro and the other "hafif metro" light metro. Yes people differ here.

Light metro:
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/9712/hafifmetrozw7.jpg

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6369/hafifmetro2ak0.jpg

Tram, there are also three types of trams:

The low floor tram:
http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7691/lowfloortrammf2.jpg

and the high floor one on a different line:
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/3812/yuksektramuk3.jpg

and the nostalgic tram:
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/8923/nostalirr8.jpg

Then there are so called "vapurs"y favourite by far!!
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/3568/vapurtu3.jpg

the modern version Seabus. They are faster but I prefer a vapur. The best of of chilling is a ride on vapur!
http://img264.imageshack.us/img264/7723/seabuszi2.jpg

Also Seataxis aren't something for me!
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/3474/seataxira8.jpg

What else, what else? Hmm the suburban train:
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/439/banliyohp0.jpg

and there is the metrobus line:

http://img.mynet.com/ha3/m/metrobus_sefer2.jpg

I am sure, I forgot something :D

No, it's not. It's used in the Fisherman's Bastion area, in Buda. It may be used in other parts of the city, but I don't remember seeing them anywhere else... but maybe the Hungarian users will contradict me. :)

I like the fact that you have adverts on the trains in the metro, in Istanbul. Makes things less boring, I think.

Yes, these buses really exist :D They are used in the castle district as you said, and on other routes with smaller traffic, especially on the hills on Buda side. They are used in Warszawa, Bielsko-Biala and Karlovy Vary too as far as I know

And now for Bucharest's vehicles! Buses, trolleybuses and trams are operated by RATB (http://www.ratb.ro/eng/index1.php) (Regia Autonomă de Transport Bucureşti), while the metro system and it's trains are operated by Metrorex (http://www.metrorex.ro/). In some cases, the numbers are rough estimates.

Yeah, me too! IVAs have done their job, now it's time for new trainsets. I know London Underground will use two types of Bombardier Movia trainsets, although the ones in London will look different from the ones in Bucharest. They're scheduled to enter service in 2009.

The outside shell of Bucharest Movias looks better IMO ... but the inside of London Tube is far better; more comfortable; user friendly ... one of the best in the world for sure

Well, when it comes to my place things are getting complicated. The city of Katowice has only 320k citizens. But it's midmost and capitol of Upper Silesian Industrial District with population of aprox. 2,5mln and more than 20 cities&towns (one by one). Most of them got their own buses (or pay for operation of private owned) that are managed by Municipal Transportation Union, so man can travel with one ticket. It results in variety of makes, models and color schemes of buses. Most popular are old Ikarus (usually refurbished joint versions), new Solaris (swb, lwb, 2 axles, 3 axles, joints) and several generations of Jelcz. Some shown below:

Big malls usually offer their own free-of-charge-bus services. Usually these are very old smoky scraps, that should be utilised long ago, like this Karosa:
http://images29.fotosik.pl/86/c0c9236393b47f2am.jpg (http://www.fotosik.pl/showFullSize.php?id=c0c9236393b47f2a)

When it comes to trams things are getting easy - all are owned by one company (Silesian Trams), that is also managed by M.T. Union. Unfortunately "Silesian Trams" are in poor econmical condition, so stock is poor too. "Konstal" branded, made in Chorzów, one of mentioned 20+ cities.
Most popular model is Konstal 105

And finally - on some lines man can still meet this relic, Konstal 102

Fleet taxis are not very common in Poland. Most vehicles are owned by private individuals united in corporations, which results in variety of makes, models and colors in service. Most popular are Mercedes W124 and W210, but other european and some asian cars are typical too. Exeplary color scheme:

So, there is a city in C/EE without them (someone asked). 3city! I belive some other polish cities too. In U.S.I.D. very most of them are refurbished, few years ago got new engines, auto trannys, so i guess they're going to stay here for a while. I hope all vehicles to replace them gonna be domestic :)

We have a major river flowing trough Sofia. It's called Perlovska! The more you flush your toilet, the higher the water level is. Back in school, a friend of mine got a bad grade in geography for saying this to the teacher.
The teacher's question to the class was: "What determines the water level in any river?"

As an addition to my previous post about public transport in my area here's something special. This tram, Konstal N, used to be very popular in Poland. It was produced in 40's/50's and some of them still exist as classics, used on special ocassions, or techician's vehicles. But two of them (only one at the same time of course:) ) are still on regular duty!! They service line "38" in Bytom, Upper Silesia. With only 1350 meters it's the shortest line in Poland and - perhaps - in whole Europe. It's all covered in only 6 minutes. "N" is used because line is "pendulum", nearly 100 years old, with one track and no possibility tu turn back at the end - this tram has sliding doors on both sides and a set of driver's seat&dasboard on each end, so it's perfect for conditions.

http://images26.fotosik.pl/92/7e0e8732b5107a7e.jpg (www.fotosik.pl)
The same type of tram was used recently as "historic&cultural tram" in Będzin, other city of district - unfortunately this free of charge line around Będzin's relics is now suspended.

EDITED:
I've found out, that it's the oldest regular (excluding touristic) tram link in Europe. It's been build in 1913 and since then very few changes in it's neighbourhood appeared. Tram is driven by the oldest tram driver in Europe - 67 yrs old. And those vehicles - one build in 1949, the other in 1952 - do not break down at all! I always say: "simple is better" :)

i hope they start using the electronic signs for those buses, i like them alot otherwise. I just dont know when all the other firms operating will think about buying MODERN buses and not serve their interests only because in eg. that 74 line is full of shit. As to the trams OMG OMG OMG i really appreciate their cheapness i dont know what else to say.

Congrats to Sofia for the new buses! :) I love the color. Not plain white like over here. But you also mentioned Citaros, and I can only see Conectos... show me the Citaros! The tram sucks... but it's better to have an upgraded trams than old trams.

delyan, your dream came true :)

This is the new tram operating in Sofia :)

It's a modernized version of an 80s model. Together with the new design they have improved heating system, disabled people-friendly and tickets are automatically processed :)
yeah, I wish.

The news mentioned both names, but on the pictures I see only Conectos, too.
Also, the Conectos are made in Turkey and the Citaros are made in Germany.

City of Belgrade yesterday signed a two billion dinars worth contract with local firm "IKARBUS" for delivery of another 100 new low-floor buses for the city's public transport company.

And I thought Irisbus Citelis has a butt-ugly face. I like the interior, but I hate the exterior color. It seems we are the only idiots that don't buy articulated buses.

Hm, some good and some bad news I learned today about Sofia's mass transit.

Sofia will have 30 new MAN trolleybuses in a month.

Another 10-15 trams will be rennovated according to a Chechz project the next year. The first "testing" one is already operational. They will most certainly be used for lines 1,5 and 7 only.

There are some problems with underground water in the Sofia University subway station. That means, the subway to Mladost will most certainly be finished in 2009, not in 2008 :(

Next year, Belgrade will be getting 100 such buses and over a hundred more are expected to be sold on EU markets:
