The city of Ashdod, established in 1956, lies in a plain on an important road axis and is located a short distance from Tel-Aviv (35 Km), from Jerusalem and Be'er Sheva (70 Km).

In the city jurisdiction there are over 60,000 dunams and land reserves for a total area of 74,000 dunams. Ashdod's master plan divides the city into 17 residential quarters.

Most of the city inhabitants find their livelihood in the city and enjoy high standard municipal services. The mild climate and geographic location turn the city into one of the attractive cities is Israel, to the degree that many of the newcomers and citizens of various settlements request to make Ashdod their home.

Ashdod is Israels 5 biggest city with approx 200.000 citizens! Ashdod also has the biggest port in the middle east.

wow, i was reading the text considering the recent Isreali skylines that have been up here recently and was expecting a flat mass of yellow buildings.

I was right about the lack of a skyline, but found the colour to be a pleasant suprise.
Still not great though.

This is the city I live in, and its an average Israeli city! one which is far from the spootlight! and which normal Israelis live at....



I never heard of the place , looks very green and well planned too .

I need to buy an IS map cause it is getting confusing for me

I doubt you will ever see higher ones since its mostly a residentialy city! a city which is big but has much more territory to build on! the highest buildings you will ever see are around the 30 floors! (those already exist)

Ashdod seems sooo beautiful since when I was in Israel at 2000

Many of residentals and houses seems so beautiful and nice designs.....

hmm... 4/10 lack of height and normal skyline, nothing special about it. The skyscrapers are not dense too... just nice for a population of 200k..

The highrise architecture is very repetitive and lacking in immagination, but the quantity of buildings is impressive for such being a small place. I agree with the person who said it looks more like a commie-block suburb than a city (although I'm sure it's quite nice a ground level)

the city looks very nice but the is not almost office buildings and that's bad.

Well planned, nice parks, clean and nice residential skyline, must be good living in there.
Looks like a eco friendly city too, notice the solar panels on the buildings.

I'd say 7/10. The city is nice but doesn't have that feel of a massive, enormous, glamorous city. Though that stormy picture just above looks good and has upped the rating for me as I like storms.

Looks like a master-planned city and looks very hard to get around without a car...like high-rise sprawl. It does look clean and the architecture isnt bad IMO. 6.5 :)
