I've meant for a while to post on university campus plans. They're examples of planning that have the potential to shape an entire community (even if confined to a university), and have, unlike much of the planning that goes on in Lebanon, good chances of actually being fulfilled. The AUB has worked on a new plan and their site has a large file on it. The Lebanese University project doesn't have much literature that I can find (anyone?), but from the recent photo in the Beirut thread, it seems to be moving forward. I thought I might start with Balamand, because the project is interesting, and this school has really exploded on the scene:

The University will be linked by a "Path of Learning" (AUB has something similar), which will be a landscaped corridor extending from one end to the other:

I don't know where their funding is coming from, but they have built quite a bit recently.

The name 'Balamand' dates back to the Crusades, it used to be 'Belmont'
The Balamand Monastery (historically called Belmont, Bellimontis ultra Mare or Bellus-Mons), is a Greek Orthodox former Cistercian monastery founded in 1157.
