Saudi Build 2007

Kingdom focused

Saudi Build 2007, the 19th in the series of international construction technology and building materials exhibitions, is expected to be larger than last year’s event with the main hall of the Riyadh Exhibition Centre having been fully booked, according to the organiser.

A tent has also been added outside the hall to accommodate the increased demand for space for the event, which opens at the end of this month (October 28 to November 1).
Held concurrently with Saudi Build is Saudi Stone, the 10th International Stone and Stone Technology Show, also held annually in Riyadh.
Commenting on last year’s show, a spokesman for the organiser, Riyadh Exhibitions Company, says: “Saudi Build/Stone 2006 exceeded all expectations in terms of number of visitors and companies represented. The show attracted more than 25,800 visitors, mostly trade professionals, managers, buyers, engineers, architects and business owners.
“Over 390 companies were represented, with leading brand names from all over the world participating as international exhibitors and country groups from more than 20 countries including Australia, Austria, Bahrain, China, Egypt, Finland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Poland, Qatar, Singapore, Turkey, UAE and the UK.
“International exhibitors were joined by over 100 exhibitors representing Saudi Arabia’s leading construction companies. Most exhibitors reported record sales with new leads and were satisfied with the quality and number of visitors at the show.”
The event is being held against a backdrop of a thriving construction sector, with the kingdom making extensive efforts to attract investment through the channels created by its various new economic cities as well as its real estate and industrial sectors.
“Saudi Arabia’s already-flourishing construction sector continues to expand, propelled by record population growth and vast country-wide excess liquidity, thanks to consistently high oil prices,” says the spokesman. “Over the last two decades, Saudi Arabia’s population has grown eightfold. Analysts say it will expand by a further 50 per cent over the next five years. The rapid growth of an increasingly-wealthy population has spawned a huge construction market worth billions and billions of dollars in public and private development projects.”
“Well over a $100 billion is being channelled into the electricity and water sectors alone. $6 billion are going towards housing, $5 billion to roads, and another $2 billion to schools and universities and then the commercial and tourism construction sectors. Further billions are earmarked for shopping centres, luxury hotels, restaurants, office complexes and leisure centres.
“The Kingdom’s industrial sector is also witnessing a massive infusion of construction investment. This frenzy of construction activity has created a mass of potentially-rewarding investment opportunities for construction sector leaders from across the region and the world. At Saudi Build/Stone 2007, construction industry professionals — looking to seize those golden opportunities — will meet up with the Saudi construction market key players and top public sector officials who can help them strike the most lucrative deals,” he adds.
The spokesman continues: “At Saudi Build 2007 in the Saudi capital Riyadh, international investors will find themselves in a cosmopolitan capital, a high-class business crossroads between East and West, a meeting-place for leading investors from around the globe, surrounded by evidence of the construction boom they aim to be a part of. They will be buoyed as well by the unprecedented measures taken by the Saudi government to attract foreign investment.
“Saudi Build/Stone 2007 will offer ample Saudi construction sector investment opportunities. It will build on the outstanding success of previous events, as well as on the unsurpassed experience of its organisers.
“Participants will enjoy access and exposure to one of the fastest-paced, most exciting construction markets in the region. Whether they are investors hoping to establish a first lucrative foothold in the Saudi construction market, or industry leaders seeking to cement or expand an already-firm presence in Saudi Arabia, they will find Saudi Build/Stone 2007 supremely rewarding.
“Saudi Build 2007 has generated massive interest, not just among key construction decision-makers in the region, but among leading construction companies throughout the world. Their representatives are all going to be attending the event, to mingle with their Saudi counterparts, as well as with the high-profile Saudi government officials who can streamline investment deals, and offer introductions to top-quality agents, distributors and potential joint partners. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to attend Saudi Build 2007, along with hundreds of companies, from the four corners of the globe.”
The exhibitor profiles ranges from asphalt plant to interior design through to prefabricated structures and wood products.
The organiser adds that it will arrange special presentations, meetings, press conferences and receptions to further promote participating companies at the show.
Riyadh Exhibition Centre is a modern international exhibition complex consisting of 15,000 sq m of air-conditioned space and 10,000 sq m outside space. Facilities include a communications centre, restaurants, VIP suite, press suite, conference suites, exhibitor services centre, shipping offices, and ample parking.
Riyadh Exhibitions Company has organised more than 330 international trade shows, over the last 26 years. It is a member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).
