I would love some more information, thank you.

About the riverside park - looks fabulous, but the lack of greenery is depression. I imagine it will look x100 better in the summer

In a month more or less, spring arrives to Europe actually, so, trees come green, and grass grows all over the territory. :)

^^
Grass is totally green now, it only turns yellow during 2 or 3 summer months here in Madrid.

There's a lot of greenery but now the trees are too small, we have to wait some years.
In the summer it will be better, trees will be green -now the trees hasn't leafs because of the winter- and also the grass (there is irrigation in all the Madrid city parks).

In many places the grass is still growing and will be green in some weeks, and some things have to be finished in one month.

FOr example the left part of the first picture has to be planted and the grass around the stars at the right has to grow.
So it´ll only improve in a little time. Nothing after years of construction.

Preciosas fotos, m3c.

It seems like his project is radically changing this part of Madrid and the "relationship' the city had until now with the river. I am convinced the transformation will be even deeper in a few years -especially the neighborhoods around the river. Bravo for this fantastic project! I hope to visit Madrid very soon!!

A picture from Madridiario. The brown areas will have grass grown in some weeks. This is more or less the middle of the 5 kms of the park. In the north there is the arena Vicente Calderón and in the south Legazpi.

Thanks, Dante.

This is the project of Atocha qhere you can see the place for arrivals of trains (llegadas) and for departures (salidas), like in the airports. I think there are few train stations in Europe with that difference. That part is already finished.

Leganés Museum of Sculpture

Architects: MACA
Location: Leganés, Madrid, Spain
Team: Christian Álvarez, Jorge Garrudo, Tomás Suarez
Size: 4000m2
Date: November 2011
Type: Competition Proposal
Visualizations: VVV-Visual

The proposal for the new Sculpture Museum of Leganés by MACA is the result of setting a few specific objectives to accomplish. Their main objectives include the importance of providing appropriate exhibition spaces, adapting the new building to the urban surroundings and gardens nearby, and demonstrating flexibility while creating an iconic design for visitors.

http://cdn.archdaily.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/1323275626-00-aerial-1000x707.jpg

The importance of providing appropriate exhibition spaces:

Although the starting point when facing the project was the recovery and use of the building that currently houses the Sculpture Museum, the analysis of its state, its architectural value and the potential forced us to reject that option : the current museum does not have the spatial and functional requirements needed. The new building provides quality spaces for the exhibition of sculptures, with the right height, dimension and lighting.

http://cdn.archdaily.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/1323275627-01-location-site-1000x429.jpg

The adaptation to the site: adapting the new building to both the urban surroundings and the existing building and sculpture gardens nearby:

The proposed location for the new building is the same as the existing museum, substituting it in several phases. We understand the sculpture gardens that occupy the rest of the competition plot have already a landscape value and are kept in a remarkable state of preservation. No intervention on the gardens and keeping all the plants and trees seems to be the most sensible and reasonable option.

-Creating a new recognizable image for the museum, and “icon” as a sign of identity:

Opposite to the “invisibility” of the current building we think that the new museum should become an attractive Icon, a billboard inviting visitors to come in. The urban presence becomes stronger by placing the building closer to the nearby main avenue and raising the building up to 14 meters high. The building itself has an organic sculptural image.

-Flexibility both in the use of the building and the construction process:

Instead of a closed proposal, complete and too rigid for a program that can still vary considerably in both size and content, we propose an open system, changing over time and reconfigurable in its use: a “cell” aggregation schema. The building is generated by an addition of 17 regular pentagons, all of them 9 meters wide, and divided in two floors.

http://cdn.archdaily.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/1323275644-13-elevation-1000x303.jpg

Although the final proposal involves the demolition of the existing building this system allows us, if needed, the progressive implementation of the building in different phases depending on the needs and requirements of the museum while allowing the existing building to be in use during the building process.

http://cdn.archdaily.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/1323275630-04-phase3-1000x429.jpg

Obtaining an optimal energy performance of the building, to make it sustainable not only by the use of alternative energies such as solar panels but also by its shape, (making it a compact building), the orientation, having the big openings to the north to avoid an excess of heat in summer, crossed ventilation, using the inner patios to refresh the building in summer and having high thermal inertia in the outer walls by thick isolation.

The slaughterhouse-turned-arts complex Matadero Madrid continues to breathe new life into Madrid. Its Cineteca, a sleekly designed film center dedicated to nonfiction and experimental cinema, is the latest section of this century-old structure to be remade into a cultural attraction. Opened last year, the Cineteca includes two movie theaters, a movie studio and a cafe. The center’s archive contains close to 7,000 documentaries from the international film festival Documenta Madrid, all of which are available to watch free of charge.

New hopsital proposes to 'transform the citizen into a client'

Spain's recent hospitals, as part of the health care systems efficiently serve the citizens, but they do so, the architect contends, in an unnecessarily dramatic and sometimes even depressive architectural space. Its proven efficiency is often the cause of their repetitiveness, so that over the last quarter of a century they are almost all alike, or at least perceived to be so...http://www.worldarchitecturenews.com/index.php?fuseaction=wanappln.projectview&upload_id=19771

Three interlocking volumes form Abiboo Architecture's House C project in Madrid

Designed by Abiboo Architecture, House C is raised as an introvert/extrovert element and at the same time rooted to its territory. It is open for visitors but at the same time keeps some spaces for privacy and reflection. It has duality in the forms and the global functioning of the building.

Conceptualised as three interlocking volumes, the house is organised around a central space, dominated by the main staircase as a sculpture that articulates the rooms and provides a deep relationship with the landscape. From this central area the living spaces are organised with an organic system. Construction of the property is currently underway.
