i have to say i'm pretty disappointed in krtc's station designs. it looks just as bland as taipei's. i thought kaohsiung could've wowed everyone with a better designed mrt system. not like they have to spend that much money putting some more interesting design into it either. at least they could've used different vibrant colors other than typical pink, beige and white and used different shaped floor tiles. go figure.

I think the design is okay, as long as the MRT is modern, efficient, and they quickly expand it with more conveinient lines like Taipei.

Yeah, Taiwan is too cramped, you can't expect a Russian style station and subway station.

Nice pics. Question...how many cars are the stations built to handle? From what I read, the initial setup is 3-car EMU.

I think its 6 car trains, like Taipei.

Kaohsiung MRT to accept use of TaiwanMoney card

TaiwanMoney Card, the country's first contactless payment card which can be used for shopping and paying for transportation in southern Taiwan, will also be able to be used on the Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit, which is scheduled to begin operations tomorrow, a Kaohsiung City official said yesterday.

The card was jointly launched by the Kaohsiung City government, Cathay United Bank, and E. Sun Commercial Bank, in cooperation with MasterCard Taiwan, for use in Kaohsiung City, Kaohsiung County, Tainan City, Tainan County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, and Pingtung County, the official said.

Differing from Taipei City's EasyCard, which can only be used to pay for transportation, the TaiwanMoney Card can also be used for shopping, the official said.

TaiwanMoney Card holders can use the card to take buses on a total of 385 lines in the above counties and cities, on ferries in Kaohsiung City, as well as to shop at contracting stores including certain convenience stores, grocery stores, coffee shops, diners and gas stations, the official said.

The official added that two types of the card are available, one of which may be used as a credit card.

〔記者楊菁菁／高雄報導〕搭捷運竟然還有一種想哭的感動！


高雄捷運橘線昨開放免費搭乘，教舞蹈的張先生忍不住內心澎湃情緒，多次向高捷公共藝術推廣小組表達「感動得想哭！」美麗島站「光之穹頂」、「祈禱」公共藝術，讓人全身激動到起雞皮疙瘩。

大師操刀 成最美的城市景觀

高雄捷運特色有特殊車站與公共藝術，最有名三件玻璃藝術品邀請德國、義大利、英國、美國藝術大師操刀，花費一億一千多萬元，分別是高雄機場站大廳「凝聚的綠寶石」、紅橘線交會美麗島站「光之穹頂」、世運站「半屏山光影」；而部分車站出入口設計也是嘆為觀止，中央公園站「飛揚雨庇」、美麗島站「祈禱」帶動市容景觀改造，成為民眾心中最美麗的城市風景。



紅、橘線交會美麗島站代表著高雄捷運的中心點，出入口設計以「祈禱」為主題，由日本建築師高松伸設計，四座貝殼形狀的玻璃帷幕，夜晚會發出投射燈交會，乘客進出「祈禱」眺望帷幕內光影設計，感覺不像是要去搭捷運，反而覺得是要進入美術館或博物館等藝文場館。

「祈禱」設計概念勾勒出捷運之心交會凝聚精神，祈福高雄未來遠景外，也讓世世代代高雄子孫能凝聚於此，攜手共創希望。


進入美麗島站內最引人矚目的「光之穹頂」玻璃藝術，則由義大利藝術大師水仙（Narcissus Quagliata）設計，直徑三十公尺穹頂，分成水、土、風、火四大區塊，講述高雄與海的故事、高雄這片土地上的特有生物，和台灣美麗島事件中省籍衝突與情結。


至於高雄機場站「凝聚的綠寶石」，由德國藝術家Lutz Haufschild創作，號稱全世界最大的3D玻璃雕塑藝術，取名「生命之樹」與「無窮無盡」兩道牆，「凝聚的綠寶石」總長三十米、高三點三米，以高科技的電腦程式將原型雕塑分割成一萬零二百片六公釐薄的翠綠玻璃，然後一層層堆疊，展現出海洋力與美的廣闊胸襟，使進入車站的旅客彷彿置身於海浪、瀑布中。



昨天各公共藝術作品都是拍照取景的民眾，尤其美麗島站車站大廳光之穹頂下更擠滿了發出驚嘆聲的民眾，直說：「水仙大師太神奇了！」「好美的天空！」穹頂下每個角落都看得到一家人、情侶、同學、三五好友拍照取景的畫面。(圖文轉自:自由時報)

高雄捷運紅橘線十字型路網，明天由行政院長劉兆玄主持橘線通車典禮，並從高雄縣鳳山市橘線「大東站」搭捷運到高雄市紅橘線交會站「美麗島站」，參觀站體內亮麗眩目的公共藝術「光之穹頂」；大高雄都會區邁入大眾捷運新時代。

橘線十四日免費乘車至今，「美麗島站」每天湧入兩萬多民眾一睹「光之穹頂」國際級藝術創作，是民眾進出最多的車站。

捷運車站高水準的公共藝術風貌，有「擋不住的吸引力」。「光之穹頂」是義大利籍藝術家「水仙」大師作品，「鑲嵌玻璃」美麗色彩與豐富意象令人驚豔不已。

「美麗島站」外四個角落的「貝殼狀」大型白色桁架及玻璃帷幕組構的「捷運之心‧祈禱」建物，是市區新地標；站體內「光之穹頂」是高雄港都熱門觀光新景點。

高捷以總價一億一千萬餘元委託外國藝術家，製作三個捷運車站公共藝術，除「光之穹頂」，還有紅線「高雄國際機場站」的「凝聚的綠寶石」及世運站「海上雄獅」站體。

「凝聚的綠寶石」是國際大師「樂子」創作的大型玻璃雕塑；以翠綠玻璃堆疊出兩座總寬卅公尺，高三點五公尺的「綠寶石」；觀賞者可試著捕捉作品中「光波與水紋」的躍動感。

「海上雄獅」以「張帆遠揚」為塑造主軸，由國際著名Ron Wood團隊設計。站型雄偉，內有結合水彩、攝影、光影交錯數位影像玻璃圍欄創作。

那裡有人類，哪裡就有矛盾與鬥爭，你死我活的鬥爭有如星辰的蝕缺，必然帶來黑暗，仇恨的火燒得哀鴻遍地，只剩下蒼白的灰燼覆蓋大地。
