Its right, I was watching a documentary and it said 1/2 of all cranes were in Shanghai. And China used something like 1/2 of the worlds cement and 1/3 of all steel.

But if you take into consideration that China has 1.4 billion people its really not thaaatt much.

China has 1.3 billion people but the rest of the world has the other 4.7 billion that makes up the total world population of 6 billion...

Its pretty impressive that one country can use 1/2 of the world's cement and 1/3 of all steel when it doesn't have 1/2 of the world's population or even 1/3 of the world's population.

Yeah, that can't be right. Shanghai isn't the only city in China. And China isn't the only developing country in the world. According to this article (http://letters.salon.com/tech/htww/2007/02/26/dubai_cranes/view/?show=all) China has 64% of all of the construction cranes in the world:

And according to this article (http://archive.gulfnews.com/articles/06/06/18/10047703.html) 24% of the worlds construction cranes are in Dubai (which isn't the only city in the UAE):

Dubai: About 30,000, or 24 per cent of the world's 125,000 construction cranes, are currently operating in Dubai, according to the organisers of the Conmex construction machinery exhibition.

Am I really supposed to believe that the rest of the world combined only has 12% of the construction cranes? Just look at this site, there's projects going on everywhere. I just can't believe these figures.

china consume 33% steel of the world. but the problem is, china produce 51% steel of the world production., exports 15% world steel production to the other countires.this cause pollution problem.
