Maybe I'm picky, but I ate at two of the restaurants here so far, and in both cases the food was very very poor for the prices we were paying ($500/person with one glass of wine). I ate at Café de Paris and Zaks - fantastic views, poor food.

I hear Hemmingways (Caribbean) and the Aussie seafood one (forgot the name) are nice though, so might have another try. There are also some more established restaurants like Jaspas, which has great food, but there is not much point in going all the way to Discovery Bay for Jaspas when you can eat Jaspas in TST or Soho, so we decided to the give the more 'established' restaurants a miss.

Like I said though, great views!

Ha....truth be told deathscar, I hate DB with a passion! To me it was always a place for expats who wanted to pretend that they were not living in HK. To many kids, to many fat balding white guys with young Filipino or Thai wives, crappy restaurants, annoying golf carts zipping around etc etc...not my sort of area at all! But Lantau is a beautiful island and DB was a good spot to go walking from none the less.

Hong Kong?? Oh boy~~~

Yeah I know; it's a side of HK that unless you had been, you would even consider existed. It's probably one of the most amazing features of this major city that should be promoted, instead they focus on it being a shoppers paradise; pity because the country side in HK is just beautiful and a lot of the territory is designated as country park. Then again maybe it's better left not being promoted, so that the locals and the expats who live there can enjoy its relative seclusion.

I've had this chat with some friends before, and we all agreed that out of the four big financial centres in the world, NYC, London, Tokyo and HK, only HK offers beaches, jungles, mountains within such a short distance of the city centre.....it really is very lucky!

It's a good get away place though - bit of a bitch to get to mind (when you're used to zipping around everywhere in 15 minutes anyways!)

Don't forget Paris - I agree wholeheartedly on your point though. The tourism board doesn't do much on promoting the natural side of HK, which has its good and bad sides I suppose.

^^ The nature side of HK is more promoted by the tourism board now. But the problem is we are lack of trained and knowledgeable tour guide to bring tourists into the wild HK.

Very true.

Paris is a big city, but it's not a global financial centre, I just meant the big four, hence the cities I did mention.
