Cirebon,( Cirebon means 'River of Shrimps' and the city has a nickname 'Kota Udang', 'City of the big Shrimps' ),the first big harbour east of Jakarta, is a modest trade city with about 225,000 inhabitants. It's the only of the 16th century Jawanese city kingdoms, complete with palaces and royal families, which has survived the times. With this fact, Cirebon is the oldest royal city of the island; about three centuries older than both Yogyakarta and Solo( i even didnt know that ).

LOL! Cilegon is city in Banten bro, and actually Banten is used to be part of kingdom of Cirebon, even the first king of banten is King of Cirebon's little brother,

about language we had our own language, Bahasa Cerbon,only mixed between Sundanese and javanese though

Beautiful thread with wonderful pics.

Ik especially love the traditional architecture. Its weird to see that strict calvinistic Dutch architecture next to that beautifully carved and decorated traditional buildings.

IMO Bogor jauh lebih rapih & lebih maju dari Cirebon... :) Slum juga ada, tapi di bagian-bagian kota tertentu aja....
Tukang becak ?? Banyak banget di Cirebon...... Becak + Angkot slalu bikin macet di Cirebon.... :nuts:

yes,,, gua dah check, Cirebon Thread memang pernah ada... tapi IMO just go with this new thread... since yg ini lebih banyak pics-nya :)

^^ soal Cirebon, selain kotanya yang rame tapi gak terlalu besar, jalan2 nya juga termasuk kecil2... gua ingat betul kehidupan malamnya lumayan semarak.. banyak cafe, club, discotheque buka sampai dini hari. Cirebon juga punya waterfront yang kalau digarap lebih serius bisa menjadi "city vocal point" yang menarik

^^setahu gua, setahun lalu belum ada bangunan yang bisa dikategorikan tinggi (7 lantai atau lebih) di kota ini tapi Cirebon dah punya Mall yang cukup besar Grage Mall (req. fotonya donk?)

Iya, jalan2 di Cirebon emang banyak yg kecil. Jln2 protokolnya lumayan besar lah. Nightlife juga lumayan, terutama di Jln2 besar. Biasanya kelompok2 underground, motor2, pada nongol. Waterfront Cirebon ? Kayanya susah untuk dijadiin city vocal point...biasa, tidak ada political will.... :D

Saat ini belum, tapi akan ada. Sejauh yg g tau baru 2, yaitu :

- Apita Tower - 14 Storeys - Office & Hotel. Sekarang udah nyampe lantai 7 pembangunannya. Later i'll post the pic here.. :)
- Cirebon Superblock - 10 storeys - Mall, Office, Ruko, Hotel, Food Plaza - Yang ini masi U/C. Baru keliatan tiang-tiang pancangnya doank...:D

Grage juga ga hanya mall. Di kompleksnya ada Grage Hotel, dan Grage Toya Asri ( Swimming Pool ), Grage Convention Hall, Grage Extension & Grage Pavillion ( Perluasan dari Grage Mall ).. Nanti deh, tak post fotonya :)

...btw, desain bangunan Bank UOB Buana... kayaknya tipikal (sama persis) untuk beberapa tempat di Indonesia ya?

Good! IMO list diatas perbandingan kota yang rasional...

Emang Depok dan Bekasi populasinya sangat besar, masing2 mendekati bahkan mungkin melebihi 1 jutaan jiwa...

Tapi Bekasi dan Depok bukanlah sebuah "kota mandiri"... secara historis, ekonomi, fisik dan geografis keduanya (bersama Tangerang dan BSD) tak lebih dari kota satelit pendukung Metropolitan Jakarta. :)

Lumayan lah, buat kota tertinggal kaya Cerbon... :D:D soalnya kota ini sbenernya punya kaum berduit yang cukup banyak. Sayangnya kebanyakan ogah invest di Cirebon karena kurang menarik.

Bukti kalo Cirebon ga miskin-miskin amat :D :

- Mall Paris Van Java, Bandung, yang punya adalah orang Cirebon

- Ace Hardware hadir di Cirebon dengan menempati 3 lantai bangunan Ace Building. Salah satu alasannya Ace buka di Cerbon adalah kebanyakan member Ace di Bandung adalah orang Cerbon. Salah satunya ya g :tongue2:

Cirebon adl kota dgn populasi paling sedikit di Indonesia (sekitar 250.000) yg sudah mempunyai gedung 14 - 15 lantai. Gooooo Cirebon! :cheers2:

CIREBON memang berpenduduk 250 ribu jiwa .... tapi, secara METROPOLITAN (atau MAKRO) ,,, penduduknya sebenarnya sudah berjumlah 1.23 juta jiwa (data tahun 1990-an) ..

Solo, juga sebenarnya berpenduduk 2-3 juta jiwa (kalau melihat konsep SOLORAYA nya) ...

Sebenarnya (kalau gak salah) ukuran teritorial Kota Balikapan itu kurang lebih sama dengan Kabupaten Cirebon (plus Kotanya tentu saja) :tongue2:

Infrastruktur ok, bandara ada, pelabuhan-pun ada. Promising City-lah, Kayaknya Cirebon udah layak jadi ibukota provinsi nih ^^ Jadi gak tuh???

Dengan rencana hadirnya Bandara Internasional Kertajati di Indramayu, diharapkan akan memacu pertumbuhan ekonomi kota Cirebon

setau aku kertajati itu di majalengka...tepatnya sebuah kecamatan yang berbatasan dengan kab sumedang dan kab. majalengka :)

Gw pernah ke Cirebon taon lalu..kunjungan ke EP Region Jawa n Mundu..nginep di Grage ^^ Kotanya rapi, bersih n banyak gedung2 tua..yang paling inget tuh makan nasi Jamblang di sebuah pasar tradisional (maaf lupa namanya) n menu2nya serba manis..agak kurang cocok ama lidah gw :D Masih punya impian kesana lagi tuh..ada misi yg belum terselesaikan :D
