It is the 9th firm proposal over 100m for the English city to go with the 3 already built. :)

Yeh, the pictures dont give it justice. There was an exhibition today im pretty suze half a dozen of us brum forumers walked past each other. The impact it has on the skyline is very interesting.

If I were to rate this out of 10, I would give it a 7 for now. Could do with some refinement, but very good news for Birmingham! I don't think these renders will do the finished product justice. Great to see a spire on it, gives it alot more soar.

Agree with Will, it also reminds me of Heron in London.

Yeh it seems everyone who's been to the banking house today believe the pictures dont give it the sparkle they have seen. and I agree. It really is so much better then anything else in Brum, even better then the V Building and Snow Hill in my personal oppinion, and the latter I like very much ;)

Well I thought he said demo early 2009, but it seems a miss heard and it is indeed demo january 2008 with construction next summer/autumn.

And the best thing about Birmingham, the civic society have been in correspondence with them throughout the project and allthough they agreed they didnt want anything to over powering in this conservationist area... we still got a 163m tower. :banana:

Sorry, I was thinking habitable buildings and not towers. I visit Birmingham a lot and I realy hope V.T.P.200 gets built too.

Fantasic that Colmore Row is an office building and by British Land - the office buildings they put up in London are of a superior quality and Birmingham is crying out for this kind of business accommodation.

Well habitable it will also be beaten by V Building and Snow Hill and is just 1m taller then BST. but if you include the spire, then yes it will become the tallest habitable building.

And the rest ... totally agree. British Land are top notch.

hmm, it does look a lot like the Heron Tower....but not as nice.

The cladding looks dire in some of the shots...like its been patched together with leftover cladding from other buildings. :ohno:

The cladding is its best bit. some redifining will take place on some aspects before submition. Be nice to get some high def images though.

I think it is a shame they have put soemthing so ugly and tall in a conservation area. I hope you get a redesign further along the road.

Are you talking about the building that is there at the moment or the proposal? ;)

A planning application for this tower is due to be submitted by the end of the year. I think we can expect some amendments to the design - especially to the side facing Victoria Square (the side with the stripes running up it) as I understand there were many negative comments to that, including my own.

We anticipated a tower to replace the current building here for a little while now but nothing this tall. It is slap bang in the centre of the skyline and the demolition of NatWest Tower for something shorter than it would have split the skyline in two. This has done the complete opposite by giving it a pinnacle - although there are similar sized buildings proposed in the pipeline for Birmingham and cities throughout Britain.:banana:

This has been given planning permission, we think it is up to 160m with mast and 135m to roof, but we are still waiting on conformation of planning details.
