One Magnificent Mile

Site constraints and an exceptional location dominated the development of the form and massing of One Magnificent Mile, a 1,000,000 sf multi-use project in downtown Chicago. Achieving an image building specifically suited to that location was the most important of the client's design goals. The difficult L-shaped site dictated a structural solution of bundled tubes which, eliminating structural cores, allowed a higher density and more flexible floor areas. Rising 21, 49, and 57 stories, the complex's three hexagonal towers are sited on axis with the corner of Michigan Avenue and Oak Street, and are a distinctive gateway to the famed shopping street and the city beyond.

the design is ok, same goes for the facade, but the latter could have been better 6.5/10

After giving it a good observation i give it a 7.0/10

I gave it an 8/10. I has a great shape, but the color is a little bad.

BTW-We need more people to visit the Open Forum instead of the usual people (savethewtc, RafflesCity, BGT, SteelCity33, The Messiah, renell, Naptown, and james2390).

The facade is really uninspiring but the top makes up for it, even though it looks a tad ackward. 6.5

What can I say.. the facade is bad, the tube idea is nice, but the way they have put the towers togheter is so messy. the sloping roofs don't work, whatever they wanted to accomplish with them. no, again nothing for me, 4.5

Boring and the color is also ugly, 4/10.

Everyday SOM dissapoints me more.

I love the shape of ONE MAG MILE, it's very original, but the facade could be a better. I really like the slanted rooftops on every setback. 8.5/10

6/10...They should have used that interesting shape to their advantage, but they didn't with that facade and color.

This building sucks... it's the epitomy of '80s excess. They started with a somewhat interesting geometry, but rather than focusing on the architecture, they just clad the thing in expensive pink granite, as if that would be enough to make it look good.

BUT - Somehow the glass and stone don't go together, the tilting roofs give the towers a kind of "machete park" effect, and they're too chunky
