This thread is about projects and construction in BAKU - the capital of Azerbaijan Republic.

Some information about Baku:

Location: in east part of Caucasus on the Apsheron Peninsula on the western shore of the Caspian Sea.
Territory: 2200 sq. km (with suburbs within the Big Baku)
Population: 2.2 mln. people ( about 3 mln. in Big Baku).

XI PARK PLAZA is a project developed by korean construction company. The project consist of 2 towers - 55 and 35 floors and a huge mall between them. Construction works have begun in 2007 and will be finished in 2010.

PARK TOWER is a business center project. It will be located in the business district of Baku, where many office buildings such as Caspian Plaza, Bridge Plaza, Hyatt Tower, Xi Park Plaza(u/c) and others are allocated. It will be one tower of 35 floors.

ISR Construction builds a new residential building in the center of Baku.

A new hotel is under construction on Azneft Square in the center of Baku. Building is similar to old european architectural buildings of Baku.

A new business center is under construction near the boulevard of Baku. The complex is consist of 3 towers with the unigue foundation and first floors.

I think most of you who has seen Baku pictures remember this building in Baku. It is a soviet-style "Azerbaijan" hotel.

Now it is under demolition. A new building will be a luxury hotel AZERBAIJAN PLAZA.

all of them are nice but XI PARK PLAZA is amazing... very impressive.

Mugham also spelled as Mugam (Azeri: Muğam) is one of the many musical traditions of Azerbaijan

Mugham Theatre is under construction in the territory of Baku boulevard. Construction works are supported by UNESCO.

Cultural center named after Heydar Aliyev is under construction at Heydar Aliyev avenue instead of demolished an old Sattarkhan's factory. This center includes: a big library, concert hall, conference center, park and other. Construction works will be finished in 2009.

Holiday Inn Baku is opened in the end of 2006 at Heydar Aliyev International Airport of Baku. It is the first hotel of Intercontinental Group of hotels.

Relocation of Baku International Seaport to Alyat
Sponsor: Government of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Transportation
Project Value: US$400 million
South Korea’s GS Engineering & Construction has recently sent the final draft of this new port to the Transport Minister. Relocation of the port will have three overlapping phases- 2008-2011, 2011-2013 and 2012-2015. According to the initial calculations, construction of a new seaport in Alat will cost $396 million. There will be 11 berths, of which 6 will be constructed at the first phase. It is anticipated that by 2015, the port will handle 11.6 million tons of cargo. The financial sources of the project are being explored now. The project may be funded through government funds, and through private investment.
