i give it a 6. there are some good looking buildings like the Tour du Midi and the future Madou Plaza, but as a skyline overall i dun like it.

Well at least they have preserved the city centre (mostly) and built skyscrapers on the outskirts of the city.

Not much of photographs from North district... :(
The only one is very ugly.

5 new skyscrapers are currently under construction over there, sure it will be better in 2 years.

That Pano is amazing! Taken from the top of the Arch in Cinquantenaire. Brussels has a nice skyline, only the towers from North look so little from up there.

The towers of North are down in the valley, that's why they look little.

I think Brussel is a wonderful city, especially the Grand Place and the area around.

I give Brussels 7.5/10, But the center of the city 10/10!!!. The North side is getting more and more beautifull now and soon the skyline will be bigger and better.

The outskirts from Brussels are not ugly at al. They are very green.
The neigbourhoods outside the center are knowed to be ugly, but they still have nice houses. Many neigbourhoods on the southern and Eastern edge of Brussels are very elegant with nice aveneus and Boulevards, very green with large 19th century parks. The real outskirts are ourside Brussels' 19 districts and are not uglyer than the average outskirts. I think they are even nicer than a lot of Dutch and French outskirts.

Whehew we ll see which rate i ll give ;) Tomorow (Saturday 2nd octobre) i ll be in Bruxelles for the first time (in belgium for 2nd) :) I ll try to get the tons of pixs from there

The city is doing a lot of work to make it cleaner, safer and more pleasant for visitors ! ! ! ! If you visited Brussels 5 years ago and you'll do it again today then you'll see what I'm talking about... They are on the move to make Brussels the REAL capital of Europe!! and it is growing... My favourit Belgian city. There are hundreds of interesting and beautiful buildings, the atmosphere is cosmopilitan and multicultural. The skyline is not very imprssive, because highrise buildings are spread over the city. 9/10

Today's policy makers in Brussels are predominantly opposed to new highrise. Supertalls like 400-600 aren't likely to be built here. The Finance tower is being rennovated and should have a height of 200m (antenna height) around march 2008. That would make it the new tallest building in the city.

There are rumours that a 137m (which would make it the new 4th tallest building in the city) residential tower will be built close to the Espace du Nord, the densest highrise cluster of Brussels. It will look slimmer and less bulky than most of the other talls there, so it might become a valuable and crucial addition to the skyline.

The skyline isnt great from any angle, however i know the city itself is beautiful in many parts, much of the modern beauty paid for by the rest of Europe! haha :)

I'm giving it an 8.5/10. I know it's not a very high skyline but height doesn't equate to beauty or just plain coolness. This city centre looks awesome.

Maybe not the best skyline, but very destinctive, you can tell this is brussels without a second of doubt :)
I give it a 7/10 for the skyline but a 9,5/10 for the city, I love it, the city has so many different faces: Paris-like 19th century avenues, amazing old Flemish architecture in the city center, the 19 different subdivisions, the heysel, the sonian forest, the EU buildings, and of course the typical Brussels chaos and density.

Also, when you see the motorcades drive by with heads of state, and hearing every possible language in the streets, it feels like a place where things happen and stuff is decided :-)

I like the way Brussels looks. I think it has a very decent tall and modern buildings, but the best of this city is that stunning old pretty and vibrant personality. Brussels doesn't really need to have a great skyline to be aknowledge as a one of the most important city of the world.

I'm from Brisbane/Sydney - Australia :) but I have friends all over Belgium and have spent loads of time there ... I just prefer the 'cool' vibe of Antwerpen and not the sterile vibe of Brussels!!!

Hey, I have nothing against Antwerp, dear friend, I just didn't agree with the 'sterile' vibe Brussels thought to have. Yes, some city parts are quite sterile, but lots aren't. If linum liked Antwerp better, I have no problem with that. As I also stated in my post, Antwerp is a fine city.
And now, back to Brussels, please!
