Blindness is an upcoming film to be directed by Fernando Meirelles based on the 1995 novel Blindness by José Saramago. Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo star in the film, with Danny Glover narrating the story. Filming will begin in São Paulo, Toronto and Montevideo in July 2007. A release date has yet to be determined.

-Mark Ruffalo as a doctor who loses his sight. Meirelles originally sought to cast actor Daniel Craig as the doctor, but negotiations were not finalized.
-Julianne Moore as the doctor's wife, who is the only one who keeps her sight.
-Gael García Bernal as the King of Ward 3.
-Danny Glover as the narrator of the story.
-Alice Braga as the girl with the dark glasses.

In September 2006, director Fernando Meirelles was attached to Blindness, an English-language film based on the 1995 novel Blindness by José Saramago. The script was adapted by Don McKellar, who was slated to have a supporting role in the film. Blindness, budgeted at $25 million as part of a Brazilian and Canadian co-production, was slated to begin filming in summer 2007 in the towns of São Paulo and Toronto. The following November, Focus Features acquired the right to handle international sales for Blindness. In June 2007, Pathé acquired U.K. and French rights to distribute Blindness. Filming began in early July in São Paulo, Toronto and Guelph. Filming also took place in Montevideo, Uruguay.

A doctor's wife becomes the only person with the ability to see in a town where everyone is struck with a mysterious case of sudden blindness. She feigns illness in order to take care of her husband as her surrounding community breaks down into chaos and disorder. Based on a novel by Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago

They are finishing filming in São Paulo now. I was able to see and take some pictures at one set today. Nobody famous, but it was interesting to see some signs in english and some diferent taxi cars :lol:
