Tarlaqueno-ako June 13th, 2010, 03:59 PM Aquino’s rumored pick for AFP chief is qualified, ready
By Tonette Orejas
Central Luzon Desk
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Philippines—The military officer who is said to be the choice of President-elect Benigno Aquino III as the next military chief of staff said “dedicated soldiery and love for country” mattered the most in the selection of the next leader of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
“Definitely it is an honor and I am humbled to be a candidate [for AFP chief of staff]. Just like the others, I am qualified and prepared to assume the highest position in the military,” Lt. Gen. Ricardo David Jr., said by phone from Tarlac City on Saturday.
David, 55, heads the Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom), an AFP unified unit that secures the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera regions.
He said he learned that his credentials were being studied by the incoming Aquino administration even before the Inquirer reported that he was being considered for the post of chief of staff.
“It will now depend on the appointing authority to determine the weights of my credentials,” he said.
David, who was born in this Pampanga capital in 1955, lost his father, a laborer, when he was 11 years old. His mother, a dressmaker, moved the family to Victoria town in Tarlac in 1969.
Finishing always at the top of his class in elementary and high school, David scored the highest rating in a preparatory military training before he entered college.
An academic scholarship from the Saint Louis University in Baguio City enabled him to take up an engineering course there. But the Philippine Military Academy beckoned.
“Perhaps, it was my fate,” he said.
David is a member of the PMA “Masikap” Class of 1977.
As a second lieutenant, he was tested in the conflict areas of Mindanao from 1977 to 1983. As a captain, he went on to become a staff officer of the Army’s morale and welfare unit.
In 1987, David was assigned to the Presidential Security Group as training and operations officer. He later worked as company commander of the presidential guards who secured Aquino’s mother, the late former President Corazon Aquino.
“I always worked behind the scene,” he said of that almost five-year stint with the PSG.
President-elect Aquino, David said, was “never a barkada (close friend).”
David said he never took part in military or civilian uprisings because he preferred to “obey the Constitution."
“I sympathized with some issues though," he said.
David worked in the AFP headquarters as staff member in the plans, programs and budget section of the AFP comptroller’s office from 1992 to 1996.
Back in the field 1996, he led the Army’s 50th Infantry Battalion and 402nd Infantry Brigade. By 2006, he was assigned to the AFP Command Center and by 2008, to the Army Support Command.
David led the 4th Infantry Division before becoming Nolcom chief in 2009.
He topped several special military courses, including those related to artillery as well as command and general staff courses, his service record showed.
David also took up various courses in the United States, Australia and Germany.
He completed a basic management course at the Asian Institute of Management and obtained a master’s degree in business administration from the Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City.
He is described as an advocate of dialogue and consultation in resolving armed conflicts through peace councils.
In AFP units, David is known to be an advocate of human rights.
“I’ve been drilling this into soldiers: Let us engage the enemy in the battlefields but let’s respect the rights of activists to air legitimate grievances,” he said.
“Insurgency cannot be wiped out by battles alone. We need a civilized approach,” he said.
A health buff, David bikes, runs, plays badminton and golf. Aside from reading, he enjoys solving the number puzzle Sudoku.
David’s younger brother is Army Brig. Gen. Renato David, a member of PMA “Matapat” Class of 1979. He has two half-brothers, one who is a lawyer and the other an Army major.

Tarlaqueno-ako June 15th, 2010, 01:00 PM Tollway upgrades safety measures
As the number of vehicles using the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway continues to increase steadily, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority—the tollway’s owner and builder, is stepping up its campaign to keep the tollway safe, particularly for motorists driving at night.
“Based on statistics from here and overseas, more vehicle accidents occur during the night time,” said Robert Gervacio, Sprogram manager. “We are committed to make sure that the SCTEX has the necessary features to ensure safety while traveling at night, especially now when more and more people are using the tollway.”
But motorists must also do their part—by strictly observing speed limits and by driving defensively all the time,” Gervacio pointed out.
In conformity with global standards, lamp posts at the SCTEX are placed 500 to 800 meters before and after each interchange to illuminate entrance ramps, exit ramps, toll plazas and all major bridges (400 meters or longer).
“Thus, motorists driving at night are advised that when they approach lighted lamp posts, they should be aware that they are nearing an interchange or entering a major bridge way,” said Gervacio.
Linking the three major economic zones of Central Luzon - the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, the Clark Freeport Zone and the Central Techno Park in Tarlac - the 94-kilometer SCTEX is handling an average daily traffic volume of some 30,000 vehicles. With its seamless connection to the North Luzon Expressway, it now offers the fastest route from Metro Manila to the provinces of Central and Northern Luzon.
“Travel time between Manila and Tarlac City, for example, just takes an hour and 25 minutes through the SCTEX and NLEX,” said Gervacio. “And a growing number of motorists are discovering and taking advantage of this fact.”
The other night safety features include ample reflectorized traffic cones and reflectorized road signs. One unique night safety feature is the retroreflective raised pavement markers (RPMs). RPMs are durable, highly reflective markers used for longitudinal lines that serve as a guide when driving. The RPMs or “cat’s eyes” are the primary means to improve wet-night visibility. “Through all these safety features and equipment, motorists will be able to avoid hazards when driving at night,” Gervacio said.
Motorists, he noted, should also remember that, at night, 20/20 vision is reduced to about 20/50, so they must drive at a speed that permits them to stop within their range of vision. “As a rule, the speed limit that is reasonable for daytime is too fast at night,” he continued. “Motorists must observe night driving safety as soon as the sun goes down.”

Tarlac
THIS pueblo is the last one of the province of Pampanga at the north. It is coterminous with that of Pangasinan. At the west is that of Zambalels. Itsterrain is even, but near mountains and forests, and also near the visita San Miguel, which is at the east 30 degrees south, one league away.
In the above-mentioned mountains and forests within its jurisdiction, there are all kinds of timber and rattan, and innumerable canes, many fan-palms (palmas bravas), and a sufficient supply of yoro and buri palms. The rivers of this poblacion offer [page 38] an excellent kind of drinking water.
The inhabitants are engaged in the tilling of the soil, in deer-hunting, in the production of sugar from buri, and of oil from sesame (ajonjoli), in fishing in the Canarem Lake, and in the felling of trees. They cultivate the yoro palm, which gives the sagu. Thanks to these products, they are also engaged in profitable business.
Tarlac is ten miles from Baruc, first pueblo of Pangasinan, which is at the north 22 degrees west. It is around two leagues from the big lake of Canarem, which is at the first quadrant between the north and northeast.
(Manila. September 6, 1818. The Commandant of Engineers, Yldefonso de Aragon)
Note of the Columnist: In part 1 of this series (SSP, Jan. 21, 2010, page 4), I mentioned my article "Dominican Towns in Tarlac." Boletin Eclesiastico de Filipinas. University of Santo Tomas. Vol. 63, nos. 692-693. July-August 1987. Pages 493-500. Nos. 696-697. November-December 1987. Pages 738-755.
Here are two excerpts from it.
"A royal decree dated 30 April 1858 created what it called the "Comandancia Politico-Militar de Tarlac." It comprised that part of Pampanga which later became part of what is now Tarlac Province. The comandancias politicos- militares were equivalent to the proconsular provinces of the ancient Romans and the corregimientos of the sixteenth and seventeenth-century Spaniards. They refer to those regions which were not yet fully pacified and were, therefore, more or less under military protection and control." (page 494)
"An official publication, the Anuario Filipino para 1877, gives the exact date - 28 May 1873 - when Tarlac became a province. (page 746). Footnote no. 28. (same page). Ramon Gonzalez Fernandez and Federico Moreno Perez. Anuario Filipino para 1877. Manila: Establecimiento Tipigrafico de Plana y C[ompañi]a. 1877." (End of excerpts)
When I was exercising the priestly ministry in Tarlac (1985 up), I came across a Souvenir Program of the celebration of the centennial of the province the year 1974. The organizers thought that it had been made a province in 1874. Luckily, Rev. Fr. Pablo Fernandez, OP, gave me a xerox copy of the above-mentioned anuario to be included in my article to correct that error.
The Boletin Eclesiastico de Filipinas published a series of articles about the towns in the Philippines where the Dominicans had worked as missionaries and parish priests. Twenty of the articles (1983-1986) were written by Rev. Fr. Pablo Fernandez, OP, the highly respected Spanish Dominican church historian. Twelve other articles (1986-1988) were written by me under his supervision. Parenthetically, Fr. Fernandez had been my church history professor in the UST Central Seminary when I was taking up my Licentiate in Sacred Theology (1957-1961).
Six of these 12 articles were about the 11 towns of Tarlac which used to belong to Pangasinan. They are Paniqui, Camiling, Gerona (formerly, Barug), Moncada, Pura, Anao, Santa Ignacia, San Clemente, San Manuel, Mayantoc and Ramos. The 6 Tarlac towns which used to belong to Pampanga are mentioned on page 493. They are Bamban, Capas, Concepcion, La Paz, Victoria and the capital, Tarlac.
Subsequently, a new town was created (and it was named "San Jose"), comprising 14 barangays of Tarlac town, formerly referred to as "the western barrios". They are Burgos, David, Iba, Labney, Lawacamulag, Lubigan, Maamot, Mababanaba, Moriones, Pao, San Juan de Valdez, Sto. Domingo, Sula and Villa Aglipay. I know them well because I used to go there from the cathedral every Wednesday and Sunday (April 1988-1989) to say mass.
In my article about the town of Sual in Pangasinan (Boletin Eclesiastico), I mentioned what the ancient chronicles referred to as "tabique pampango" (Pampangan thin wall), and which they describe, and which was being used in Pangasinan. At the moment I have no copy of that article. It is also mentioned by Fray Juan Felix de la Encarnacion, Recollect priest, in his 1851-report on Sarapsap, former name of Alaminos. (See Edilberto V. Santos. 2004. Western Pangasinan: Earliest Beginnings, 1572-1898, as Told by Primary Sources. Alaminos City: Diocese of Alaminos).

I mean yung iba pang municipalities. :ohno:
As in buhay na buhay ang thread nila. :)

igi_master June 18th, 2010, 02:37 AM Ok yan a!

San Clemente, Tarlac
A magnificent fall tucked in the middle of nowhere. This natural wonder is quite unique that the water flows down on an extraordinarily vast boulder carved and shaped by nature - like a basin - through many years of exposure to the continuous flow of water pouring from atop at 50 feet in height. The basin-like solid foundation, where the water is generously maintained at maximum of 5 feet is in essence indigenous but beautifully crafted swimming pool. The journey offers an envigorating experience giving luxurious, healthful escapade to the people brave enough to find their way to the majestic Timangguyob. How to get there: From Manila, take a bus bound for Northern Luzon (Pangasinan) and find your way to San Clemente municipal hall along Romulo Hwy (approx 4 hours travel time). From there, it's one hour trip to Sitio Lippet (drop-off point) via 4x4 vehicle. From the sitio, it's trekking time up the waterfall good for two hours. Ubod Falls Expedition
It was a bright Saturday morning and after a few days of rain, we were blessed with a very promising day of mountain climbing. Our destination? Ubod falls!!!! but where the heck is Ubod falls?!!
We’ve been climbing the San Clemente mountain ranges for more than 10 years now not knowing a thing about Ubod falls. It was somehow pure coincidence that our guide Sir Friday made mention about it during our climb at Timaguyob falls (also in San Clemente) last October 25-26 and so we scheduled the climb. Two weeks after we have post invites in our friendster and multiply account, five guest from Manila replied together with some aspirants from our student- based environmental group. ( G.A.M.E! Green Advocates for Mother Earth.).
There were 22 of us! free, enthusiastic and rearing souls searching to take refuge from a five hard day work in a two hour fun climb which was technically an expedition because not a single participant or group had been to Ubod falls before. We had to rent an xlt jeep from Tarlac to our first stop, Canding! After which a 4x4 jeep brought us to our jump off point, Dueg Resettlement. The 4x4 owner type jeep was our own version of a habal habal, just try to imagine the 22 of us together with our backpacks and not to mention Sir Friday plus 4 other companions riding that small jeep all the way to that rugged terrain going to Dueg Resettlement. Well, Awesome is probably an understatement!!!
The road to Dueg Resettlement was like the climb to Ambangeg in Mt. Pulag minus the freezing cold weather, of course. We reached Dueg resettlement at about 1 pm so we had to take our lunch before proceeding to the hike. After the customary briefing about the climb, we started trekking at about 2:30, the first hour was relatively an easy and smooth descend passing to the cogon grass with the San Clemente mountains serving as inspiring background. We reached the river and crossed it for almost 10 minutes then suddenly the 2 hour fun climb became a treacherous descend towards the two smaller water falls about 40-50 feet respectively.
The trail was comparable to that steep descend from the view deck going to the island like mountain called Banyo of Mt. Arayat south peak There were a lot of slippery portion since the trail was relatively new and unexplored. It was a sheer 60-70 degree cliff descending down to the river going to Ubod falls. We had to make frequent stop to pass our backpacks to our guides who served as advance team, they were often on the other side of the cliff receiving our backpacks and tying improvised ropes made of cut vines (baging, in local dialect) with out which the descend could have not been possible. This time I was not only thinking of my safety but I also had to make sure that our guest and specially my two former students are okay or else I might have loss my job if something tragic happens to them. In the end all 22 of us survived the ordeal. We reached Ubod falls after six and a half hours of trekking and it was all worth it!
Ubod falls was by far the highest water fall in Tarlac and is probably the most promising destination in terms of its tourism potential. A100 feet drop water falls with an enticing pool to lure anyone to bathe in its icy cold water. We have been exploring possible mountaineering destination and this is probably our groups’ biggest break after the expedition in Mt. Tapulao-Mayantoc trail in 2005.
A side story I would like to share was my first encounter with a snake. Probably because of the pristine state of Ubod falls, wherein we could have disturbed some animals in the area, a snake crawled on my feet while we were preparing dinner. It was totally unexpected! I had to jump as a sort of instinct and nearly stepped on it on my way down. In the end, rather than exposing ourselves to the danger of being bitten, we had to kill the snake because it hid on the log just a foot away from our campsite.
The second day was more relaxing, it was our time to bathe into the pool of Ubod falls. It was indeed a refreshing experience and was some sort of a treat to our aching feet. We left Ubod falls at 2pm and the hike this time was relatively easier and safer compared to the first day descend. Our guides had to create a new trail traversing to the other side of the water falls.
We highly recommend that this trail be used if ever you are planning to hike Ubod falls. We reached Dueg at about 5pm, although tired and used up we had to descend right after to canding to catch up on the xlt jeep we rented that was waiting for us for several hours now. We were so delayed with our itinerary and it was so difficult for us to get a signal from our cell phones so we had no means of informing the driver about our where abouts. We had to keep our fingers crossed and hope that he had enough patience to wait for us or else it could have meant an additional 3 hours of downhill hike up to San Clemente town proper. Lucky enough he waited for us till 9 in the evening. We reached Tarlac City at about 10:30 and it was such a relief as we shouted, Ubod falls conquered!!!

Ilang-Ilang : Tarlac Town Harvests Sweet Success
The Ilang-ilang Livehood Program has made life better for residents of this once sleepy town.
The scent of ilang-ilang (Cananga odorata) has made life sweeter – literally and figuratively – for the townspeople of Anao in Tarlac. And the fragrance of their success can diffuse and be enjoyed by many other municipalities across the country.
According to Pedrito Q. Lontok, a researcher of DOST’s Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) and a new graduate in MS Community Development from UP Los Banos, the residents of Anao themselves say their lives have made a turn for the better – thanks to the town’s Ilang-ilang Livelihood Program.
The smallest municipality of Tarlac, Anao is home to 10,000 ilang-ilang trees planted in 2,500 hectares of public and private lands. Here, the ilang-ilang essential oil business is everybody’s business.
The local government unit (LGU) thought of the idea in 1989, donated plantation lands, and recruited help from various groups who gave technical and logistical support.
The people – including many schoolchildren – planted and cared for the trees, harvested the flowers and sold them to the LGU which runs the essential oil extraction and distillation technology (EOEDT), a machine developed by the FPRDI using an old design. The LGU, in turn, sells the oil to clients in Manila who use it in the booming aromatherapy and personal care products industries.
The EOEDT’s upgraded design in 2004 increased the LGU’s net profit by Php 1,300 per batch of flowers processed. It improved oil quality and yield, reduced the machine’s fuel and water consumption and made the loading of flowers easier and safer.
The facility cost a total of Php 437,000 (for building, equipment and working capital) and can extract as much as 1.62 liters of oil per day. Depending on the grade, a liter sells from Php 5,000 to 10,000 each.
The oil’s quality had passed the standards set by the Plant Resources of Southeast Asia (PROSEA) and the Netherlands’ Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries.
As part of his MS thesis, Lontok surveyed how Anao folks see the EODT. He asked 78- residents from two barangays to rate four aspects of the technology to check if, from their point-of-view, it really helps develop their community.
Reports Lontok, “In general, the people see that the EOEDT brings them a wide range of benefits – it uses local skills and raw materials, is eco-friendly, gives them equal opportunity to earn added income, promotes unity among them, and pushes their LGU to partner with relevant donor groups.”
Says FPRDI Officer-in-Charge Felix B. Tamolang, “These findings validate the three prestigious awards Anao received from different organizations in recent years – two of which were for environmental protection and one for sustainable livelihood.
“Although far from perfect, the ilang-ilang project has made Anao one inspiring, municipality. It has been blest with a strong team of leaders, residents and supporters who have succeeded in putting their hearts and hands together to maximize the resources of the land. The exciting thing is, this small town’s success can be replicated in other towns across the country, especially where other essential oil-producing plants – such as sampaguita, citronella, lemon grass and patchouli – grow.”
The FPRDI EOEDT was developed by the R&D team of Engr. Belen. B. Bisana. Interesfed parties may contact FPRDI OIC Felix B. Tamolang at fprdi Ca)laguna.net; tel. no. (049) 536-2377/2586; telefax (049) 536-3630.
FPRDI is located at Narra Road, UPLB Forestry Campus, College, Laguna.

Nandiyan ako noon, mukhang nakuhanan yung ulo ko.:D:D:D
Dustin June 20th, 2010, 07:54 AM thanks for the tugue note, dustin. enjoy your sm shopping! btw how has SM affected luisita mall?
Hi Father. Thanks for visiting Tarlac Thread. :)
Ok naman Father , kasi po Robinsons Luisita is 9km (more or less) away from SM Tarlac so minimal lang po yung effect. Sabi ko nga Father, the market is too big for all the existing malls here. After all, we have 17 towns and 1 city, aside pa po sa mga neigboring province ng Tarlac. :)
Tarlaqueno-ako June 20th, 2010, 08:10 AM I-share ko lang nakuha ko eto sa post ni sir Isagani sa New Districts and Cities Thread:
Local Income Generated 2008: Rank
1. Paniqui 25,444,613.00 (128)
2. Camiling 24,736,958.00 (134)
3. Capas 23,068,741.00 (148)
Tarlac:
Local Income Generated 2008:
P195,019,073.00
Thanks for the data sir Isagani.

"Pili Nutz"?
May lalakarin ako so pwede akong magtake ng pics then post ko dito.
Tarlaqueno-ako June 20th, 2010, 08:27 AM Ha ha! Medyo, kasi matagal na ako di nakakatikim. Na-eemagine ko lang. he he.
Wow!Salamat, salamat. Kunan mo yung pics ng modern Public Market, 7 eleven, yung historic old Church, yung new Church.

it's almost 3pm na sir rusty.
advise lang sir, Huwag kang nagpapalipas ng gutom at dapat on time ka sa pagkain. If you cant have your meal on time because of work, then at least try to nibble on something like crackers or a piece of bread.
Mas marami sigurong businesses dito kaya mas marami silang local tax collections. Di sila nagkakalayo ng Camiling.:D
Go Camiling go!!:D
Go Tarlac Go!!:D

Go Tarlac Go!!:D

Tarlaqueno-ako June 20th, 2010, 10:28 AM Yap, it must have been a wise move if only to stimulate more economic activities in other towns of the province like Paniqui, (the original hometown of the Cojuanco's). Its location will be more strategic upon the operation of the Tarlac, Pangasinan, La-union Expressway now construction in progress, since Western Pangasinan province travellers going to Manila might pass through Camiling and Paniqui.:D
william :D June 20th, 2010, 01:25 PM ^^parang masarap pinag-uusapan niyo wa....penge.....hehe,

Maybe yung ibang forumers can give us an idea.
Basi
Basi is a fermented alcoholic beverage made of sugarcane produced in the Philippines and Guyana.
Basi is the local beverage of Ilocos in northern Luzon in San Ildefonso where it has been consumed since before the Spanish conquest. In the Philippines, commercial basi is produced by first crushing sugarcane and extracting the juice. The juice is boiled in vats and then stored in earthen jars. Once the juice has cooled, flavorings made of ground glutinous rice and duhat (java plum) bark or other fruits or barks is added. The jars are then sealed with banana leaves and allowed to ferment for several years. The resulting drink is pale red in color. If fermented longer, it turns into suka or vinegar.
The 1807 Basi Revolt in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, occurred when the Philippines' Spanish rulers effectively banning private manufacture of the beverage. A Basi festival is held annually in Naguilian, La Union.

TARLAC:
Word of Origin
The name Tarlac, derived from a talahib-like weed called "Matarlac" by the Aetas and "Malatarlac" by the old settlers, aptly describes its people - sturdy, resilient, adoptive to any given situation.
ahhhh... kaya pala :P
JerzDelaCruz June 21st, 2010, 01:41 AM Laptop Buying Guide
What kind of laptop is right for you? For those people who always travel, size and weight are the two most critical factors in choosing a laptop. Students need a laptop that is small and light enough to lug back and forth across campus but rugged enough to withstand bouncing around in a backpack. Business power users need a well-balanced system, a good performance and a wide variety of applications. For those people designing a Web site, editing home movies, you will demand a powerful processor, plenty of memory, great graphics, and a healthy hard drive.
What to look for when purchasing a laptop?
Hard Drive: An important consideration to think about when purchasing a laptop. The hard drive is the equivalent of a computer's closet. It is the destination of all your files and information. Maybe get the maximum size hard drive, considering you will eventually always run out of space. A laptop computer should come with at least 40GB.
Memory: Know the amount of memory included in the laptop and also verify if it can be upgraded in the future. A general rule of thumb, get at least 512MB of RAM.
Processor: Low power consumption is a primary consideration in the choice of a laptop processor. When buying a laptop, make sure the processor says "Mobile" somewhere in the description as in Pentium 4-M or Pentium 4 Mobile or Athlon XP Mobile. Processors designed for mobile computing generally consume less power, and thus run cooler than desktop processors. This is important because you want your battery to last a long time and you also don't want to burn a hole through your lap.
Drives: Laptops can come with various drive configurations such as one drive bay where the CD-ROM and the Floppy drive are interchangeable; two drive bay laptops generally have a floppy solution as well as CD-ROM solutions; no drive bay which allows for a laptop to be extremely light and utilize external drives instead of internal. Also, consider the option of a DVD or CD-RW drive as opposed to a CD-ROM drive.
Battery Usage: Determine how long the battery lasts. Always ensure that the manufacturer clarifies what the standard battery usage life is when using the laptop in all power modes. Some manufacturers indicate a battery usage time in the lowest possible settings. So be cautious! There are two main types used in notebooks- NiMh’s and Li-ion. Li-ion batteries are superior and more expensive holding more of a charge. If you want long battery life without the expense of a Li-ion battery, eliminate components you don’t need.
Video Card: For video games, a machine with the proper video card is important. Video memory is dedicated to storing information about images on your monitor. If you want sharp and clear screen resolution, stay away from a notebook with “shared memory”.
Sound Card: Find that most standard sound cards which will suit your needs. Advanced sounds cards increase the amount of speakers that can be used and in some games and programs and the sound quality and capabilities. Sound quality also matters.
Display: The display is also an important consideration. When looking at the display, ensure it is large enough for your needs. Suggested size for a laptop display is at least 12" and recommended LCD size of 14".
Weight: Remember that the lighter the laptop, the easier it will be to carry.
Lock: This is for security purposes while on the road.
Remember also that in purchasing laptop ensure it comes with legal software. Determine the software if it is on a standard CD and not a burnt CD. Ensure that if the software requires a license or registration number that it was included with the computer.
The following video will teach you everything you need to know about purchasing the perfect laptop computer!

Juliana in Capas, Tarlac only to take on a 2-hour walk to the crater of the volcano to witness the tranquility and peacefulness of Mother Nature. Participants join the annual event to contribute part of their resources for the benefit of the conservation and local infrastructure development projects of the host community of Sta. Juliana. The event is participated in by the Angeles City Four Wheelers Club with support from other motoring groups. The project is organized by the Department of Tourism - Region III as part of their mission to "build better quality of lives thru travel and tourism."
Special Interests:
Conquer Mt. Pinatubo
Trek to the crater of the world-famous Mt. Pinatubo. Spectacular views, towering lahar canyons, cool mountain springs, and cascading waterfalls make the trip up the volcano an experience to remember. The tour may be taken via Brgy. Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac.

Di ko masyado kabisado ang Luisita, pero lahat naman puede mamasyal doon lalo na sa dating Luisita Mall and Park, ngayon ay Robinson's Luisita na.(Please see pics in Thread 1, may mga shots yata si Dustin doon).

On-line pala kayo kanina?
Chill lng! the first time that I experienced poverty was when I graduated from school, walang allowance...:lol::lol:
Halos lahat dumadaan diyan, he he. Kaya dapat masuportahan ang mga bagong graduate na kabataan hanggang makakita ng work, then saka maka-establish at maging financially independent.
Tarlaqueno-ako June 21st, 2010, 11:28 AM nakakalasing pala..haha, masarap ba yan?ano yan parang tuba?:D pero sa tubo galing?hehe :D :D :D

Tarlaqueno-ako June 21st, 2010, 11:37 AM Maria Clara Museum (Camiling)
Preserved and displayed in this museum are the priceless mementos of Leonora Rivera, the sweetheart of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Leonora Rivera is immortalized as the heroine Maria Clara in the novel of Rizal.
Camiling Church (Camiling)
Its convent was the place of death of General Pedro Pedroche and his men in the hands of General Francisco Makabalos and his revolutionary troops upon the order of General Antonio Luna on charges of rebellion.
Baka daw makapunta si Dustin sa Camiling, can't wait to see pictures here of my hometown most especially those mentioned structures with historical significance.
william :D June 21st, 2010, 03:44 PM Exit ka ng Luisita exit, madadaanan mo yung mga nabangit ni Tarlaqenio ako exept yung Luisita Golf Club, actually mas malapit sa McArthur Highway yung Luisita Exit (more or less 5 kms) kaysa Tarlac City Exit (13 kms) madaanan mo pa yung SM, Tarlac.

BusinessWorld By Neil Jerome C. Morales
LISTED SM Prime Holdings, Inc., the country's largest mall operator, will spend P12 billion this year to build ten new malls, a ranking official said on Wednesday.
"[Capital expenditure] for this year will be about P12 billion. We are spending P8 billion for the Philippines and P4 billion in China," Jeffrey C. Lim, executive vice-president and chief finance officer of SM Prime, told reporters at the sidelines of the opening of SM Fairview Annex II.
For this year, new SM malls will rise in Calamba City and San Pablo City in Laguna;Tarlac City; Novaliches;Masinag in Antipolo; and in Suzhou City in China.
"We will also start to construct malls that will open in 2011," Mr. Lim said.
At the end of the year, SM will have 44 malls in the Philippines and in China totaling a retail space of 4.5 million square meters.

I have been to Naga twice and I really love that place (and also Legazpi).

Walang mabigat, walang 'battle of the brains' baga. Hindi katulad sa iba, may masabi ka lang ayun giyera na kahit out of context naman ang sinasabi.
pag tayo, Freeflowing lang. Anything goes!

small world jers, muntik na rin akong magpari but that's a long story.
But dont expect too much ah kasi unlike CAmSUR, Tarlac is a landlocked province which is devoted primarily to agriculture. Wala kaming mga beaches pero we have natural attractions din naman and historically, we are very rich.
May Ilocano, Pangasinense, kapampangan, etc.
Kung sa geography at history naman ng province namin, I think I would have to refer you to IGI_MASTER or kay TARLAQUENO-AKO (sir rusty). mas malawak ang knowledge nila on that aspect. :okay:

SM San Pablo at Calamba alam ko later this year and also Masinag. So hindi na sila proposed kasi soon to open na sila.

He he.

Yes sir kahapon nasa Camiling ako all by myself hehehe! I had lunch dun sa Jollibee. I was surprised kasi ang haba ng pila in all counters. As in it took a while bago ako nakaorder ng lunch.
The countryside is so refreshing.
Grabe sir rusty,
But overall its beautiful.
Dustin June 22nd, 2010, 06:31 AM Saan ka naka book ngayong 2nd -sem na magtravel?
what do you mean sir?
Camiling is like Tarlac City mga 10 years ago.
:okay:
very well said...haha, pano tapusin na natin ngayon tong thread 2 niyo????HAHA,

Go go go! he he.
Yung bahay nina Leonor Rivera ay sa Rizal Street, the street in the eastern part ng plaza, yung tennis court ang palatandaan, doon malapit.Ok lang he he.

(gaya sa Tarlac City):):) to ease the traffic congestion in the town proper and the same road must be conducive para pagtatayuan ng maraming business establishments nang sa ganoon ay lalo pang tataas ang kita ng aming bayan.

Tarlaqueno-ako June 22nd, 2010, 01:49 PM Litson Kawali (Pan Roasted or Deep Fried Pork Belly)
“Litson Kawali” or “Lechon Kawali” which literally means pan-roasted pork refers to the tasty Filipino dish of pre-boiled slab of pork belly deep-fried in a frying pan until the skin is crispy but the inside meat remains juicy. The term “litson” or “lechon” generally means roasted pork while “kawali” is a Filipino word that pertains to the bowl-shaped frying pan traditionally used in many Asian cooking, also known as “wok” in China, “wok”, “kuali”, or “kwali” in Malaysia and Singapore, “wajan” in Indonesia, ”chao” in Vietnam, “dare-oh” in Burma and “chukka nabe” or “shina nabe” in Japan. Therefore “litson kawali” is basically pork belly deep fried in a “kawali” or pan which after cooking resembles a “lechon” due to its golden crispy skin.
In the Philippines, “kawali” is also known as “carajay” that’s why the dish is sometimes referred to as, especially during the older times, “Litson de Carajay”.
Pork belly (“liempo”), the cut used in making bacon, is the same part of pork that is ideal for the dish. The good amount of fat in the cut which can be tenderized and fried crisp, while maintaining the inside meat, composed of alternating layers of lean meat and thin fat, still juicy, succulent and tasty is the reason while the cut is considered perfect for the dish. A regular entree in most special gatherings, ”litson kawali” is usually serve with “lechon" sauce or with a vinegar dip with chopped garlic, chili, onion and ground pepper.
There are other regional dishes in the Philippines which are very similar to “litson kawali”. In Camiling town in the province of Tarlac, the residents have their locally famous but just fairly known outside “Chicharon Camiling” or “Litson Camiling”. The dish is so popular in the town and slowly gaining recognition from the other parts of the province that prompted the local government to launch the yearly festival called “Chicharon and Inuruban Festival” in honor (partly) of the dish. This “chicharon” is known to remain crispy even after several days of cooking.
In the Ilocos provinces of Northern Philippines, they have their well-known deep fried pork called “Bagnet”. It is their version of the “litson kawali” that remains in the top list of homegrown delicacy of the region. “Bagnet” preparation is an old handed-down tradition of deep-frying the pork meat until very crispy, primarily to preserve whatever excess meat and extend its life shelf during the times when refrigerators are not yet common. It became quite popular that commercial production was started in the 1980s.

---Tarlac is rich in historical landmarks with The Capas National Shrine, the Capas Death March Marker and the Sto. Domingo Death March Marker are all testimonies of the sufferings endured by the thousand of Filipino and American soldiers who participated in the tragic Death March in World War II. The Tarlac Provincial Capitol building that was built in 1906 has captivated the attention of tourist as the old world beauty of the building was further enhanced by the Maria Cristina Park named after 1952 Miss Philippines Maria Cristina Galang, a Tarlac beauty while the San Sebastian Cathedral in Tarlac City is the location of the revolutionary congress.
