Zürich is going well. Perhaps that's caused by the boom the German immigrants bring along eh ;)

Definetly a joy to see that Switzerland have the brave to build some really modern, raffish highrises. Brings more business-glam to the twinkle capital of save banks.

The 2 biggest cities (Geneva and Zurich) are still growing fast. I like the new projects but I hope for more 100+ (or better 150+) plans. Maybe they will come after the Primetower is finished.

There are a lot of other projects, but I will only add the bigger or very special (architecture, function) projects.
Some of them aren't in the list yet, but they'll follow later... :)

Here's a German article about the big "housing shortage" problem within the city.

A short translation:
Microsoft bought a Swiss company based in Zurich and wants to expand their office to one of the main development centers in Europe (at the same time google is hiring at least 500 new jobs in Zurich).
The Microsoft guy means that the housing shortage is the only problem for them which is not only a problem for international companies.
The housing market is desiccated and the construction of new housings is unable to keep up with the demand.

Was machen Sie genau in Zürich?

Curious! These renderings are, classic, Modernism..... attractive , but very dated, architecture. Why do ALL of these projects have 1970's architecture? I don't mean that as a criticism. Is That mere coincidence or intent?

:) Fear not! This, classic, Modernist, " glass box " style was one of My favorites. It's, just, from the past. If You're unfamiliar with Him, You can " google ".... Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.... on Any search engine and learn more about This, superstar, architect Whose style dominated " big city " architecture between the late 1950's through the 1970's.

I would say this style of architecture is very typical for American cities. For European and especialy Switzerland this is not realy common architecture. The buildings look quite bold and massive even if they are only 92m high.

Sure this style isn't new at all, but this could be the intention of the architect, who has planned a "small size rockefeller center". The plans for the additional buildings (the 92m and 80m towers are allready built) where made public in 2000 by the way :-)

Today the city announced the official project for the new Square on the old between Bellevue and the Opera (formerly known as Sechselaeutensquare)

Until 2011 the Operaparking will be finished and the parking lots in front of the operahouse will disappear.
