SILVERLAKE
October 18th, 2007, 01:04 PM
hey guys,

sorry to have not been around much lately. did you miss me? probably not, huh?

i took a cool job in ny where i work for a company that promotes indie bands to college radio, on-line media and print media.

i got a cool apartment near ludlow/stanton in manhattan, but the best part is I get to fly to LA all the time for work as brooklyn/lower east side/silver lake/echo park are the ultra hot spots for indie rock. I also get to go to Austin and Seattle every once in awhile. pretty cool!

when i'm not so busy, i'll try to update my legendary thread "Penelope Cruz is finally an Angeleno!!!!!!!!!!!!":banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheers::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer:

Can you promote my band?

we get hired by indie record labels to promote their bands mostly for college radio play but also for other things. i don't think bands hire us directly but am not sure though....

i spent most of the day partying at the Fader party around the corner from my apartment and now have to go out all night to the clubs...it's an exhausting job with CMJ going on in NY, but this is the time where we got to get out there and support our bands!!!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer:

This is perhaps the culmination of your dream to live a bicoastal lifestyle.

I'm laughing my ass off at the thought of nygirl and SILVERLAKE potentially sitting next to each other on the subway or passing each other in the street and not even knowing it!

yeah I have been lviing on the lower east side on ludlow and stanton for a few months. it's cool. i'm not bicoastal as I'm not rich and powerful, but I do spend a lot of time going back and forth between NY and LA to work with bands/labels and the indie-rock industry.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

^ It would be nice if NYgirl and Silver would have lunch in So Ho and patch things up. You never know they might have a lot in common and become the new peaches and herb!

BTW has everyone checked out his location??? Way too funny :hilarious

I don't know if that would work. If Silver broke out his pom poms and started chanting "LA, we Love it!" I may end up stabbing him in the eye with my lunch fork whistleing Sinatra's New York, New York as I flee the scene.

But no this is interesting.. Silver if you pm me info I am interested in hanging out, we can mesmerize the entire forum by going on a photo tour together. Hahahahaha ( evil laugh) I'll bring my lunch fork, you bring your pom poms.

I'll show you some pretty cool shit around town.

No u may want to bring yer pepper spray. It's New York ya know. We need to be well armed. Silver, wait till yer first night rooftop party. I bet you'll be overwhelmed as hell at one of those.

Things Silverlake will bring back to LA

-A New York HardCore tattoo
- The razor he uses to travel down busy LES streets
- A belly full of Dinkle Acker beer, Blue Point, & Thin Crust Pizza.
- A new York Yankees cap from New Era.
- Various Gay, Puerto Rican, and Jamaican beeded necklaces and flags from our parades.
- Rent grief
- A shitty, get out of my way attitude

Get ready to see some ethnic neighborhoods where noone conforms.. One minute you will be in China, the next India, the next Greece, and somewhere inbetween you'll end up in Poland, Russia, Czeckoslovakia, Jamaica, The Phillipines, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Brazil.
Don't be surprised when you bump into celebrities that don't travel with any enterouge at all and make sure you bring Ferney back some real Cannoli's and Pizza.

Ooooh a tattoo, NYC is the ish!

Great, its not like we don't have like 323394882834 kids with those fruity things here.
- A belly full of Dinkle Acker beer, Blue Point, & Thin Crust Pizza.
Nope, no pizza and alcohol here in LA.
- A new York Yankees cap from New Era.
New Era huh? I'm gonna have to stop by my local LIDS store and see if they can get some of those fancy New Era caps that all the cool NYC'ers cop. Maybe, they can even keep that lame sticker on the bill of the cap, neato!
- Various Gay, Puerto Rican, and Jamaican beeded necklaces and flags from our parades.
I hate how LA doesn't have any diversity...
- Rent grief
Its all wide open spaces here so we don't have any apartments or rent, we all own our ranches.
- A shitty, get out of my way attitude
We the residents of Mayberry would like preserve our main street utopia.

^^ It was all in good fun, folks. I was expecting an adorable post like that. Just celebrating some old Silverlake fun we used to have here. I knew at least 2 or 3 people would jump on that.

- First part of the post was rite on though, it would be funny to see Silverlake transform.

silverlake, now that you've become a nation hopper (if not a globe hopper), any chance of Chicago ever ocuppying a soft spot in your heart...or has the cow left the barn (taking the lantern with her!) on that one?

I for one would love to see Silverlake's take on New York. I suspect he will turn into a New York Booster, (in fact he may surpass yourself) in no time. Amd we do have access to decent canoli out here. Just make sure he leaves the Yankees cap at home.

He may come home with a few rat bites... hey it is the LES. As for the yankee cap who would ever want to take that crown off their heads. Could be worse.. could be an Angels cap :(

Actually we have more than our share of rats here as well but the tend to live more in the ivy, and we also have endemic bubonic plague. But you now have Silverlake, so we are even.

^^ Ummmm he's like a legend. Like you don't know that dude??? Omg you are so 2006... Yeah Silverlake is known... he's the most annoying/entertaining, nutty, goof I used to love to argue with.

I'd like to present some of the juiciest threads but ahh to my dismay they were locked and/ or deleted. Those were excellent. Especially the thread:" Is Atlanta the premier city of Hip Hop?" < That was a classic. Some folks on here I can't stand and use my ignore feature freely for a while but this was just pure entertainment and you kinda anticipate what is said next.

Well he left one rat race for another. It's been said, "LA people judge you by the car you drive, NY people judge you by your shoes". Ok, I made that one up.....but it's true to anyone who has lived in both places. These two cities are the top heap, the glamour capitals. But if he visited Chicago.........he probably wouldn't ever go back to either.

I think the things Silverlake liked about LA, (glamor, celebities, clubs, etc.) he is going to find in NYC in massive amounts. The interesting thing is will he become bicoastal (my guess) or which city might he pick? I don't think he would go for Chicago. That's where celebrities come from, not move to.

travelling coast to coast on a regular basis may seen glamourous and exciting at first but after a while it gets tedious and tiring. What with all the jet lag and time lag and of course the airport security, etc. After a while you'll be wishing you could just stay in one city for a long period of time.
