On 1 June 2007 at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the FAI President announced that the 3rd World Air Games would be hosted by the City of Turin (Italy) from 7 to 13 June 2009.
The following pages are dedicated to the World Air Games 2009.
By clicking on the menus in the left column, you will find information and documents on the themes listed below, including, when available, links to the official Webpages of the World Air Games 2009 (to be launched by the end of November 2007) and extracts from the bid book submitted by the Turin Bid Committee during the bidding process.
Please note that the content of the following pages is not yet complete and will be further improved to reflect work done by the Turin Local Organising Committee (LOC) in preparing the World Air Games 2009.
TEST EVENTS
Test Events will be organised by the LOC to gain experience with the new format of the World Air Games, verify the organisation and logistics provided by the LOC, promote the World Air Games and start involving the population.
The 1st Italian Rotorcraft Championship have already allowed the LOC to gain experience in Helicopter events, and a series of Test Events will be organised in 2008 at the various World Air Games 2009 Venues.
Further information on schedule, conditions of participation and registration will be published on this page in due course.

OPENING CEREMONY
The Opening Ceremony of the World Air Games 2009 will be held in Downtown Turin on Sunday 7 June 2009.

CLOSING CEREMONY
The last competition finals, the awarding of medals to the World Air Games Champions and the Closing Ceremony of the World Air Games 2009 will be held on Saturday 13 June 2009.

SELECTION OF VENUES
The Main Venue for the World Air Games 2009 will be the Torino Aeritalia Airport; two Satellite Venues will be located in Avigliana and Mondovi.
The experience of the Winter Olympic Games 2006 in Turin led the Bidding Committee to propose a series of World Air Games events actually in the town centre, allowing the entire population to become involved.
Information on the selected venues is given below.
