The design might not be definitive. It's the tallest one in the pictures.

The project will be located very close to Sino-Steel tower (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=454922).
potipoti October 22nd, 2007, 07:49 PM the tallest building looks like Freedom Tower...
ZZ-II October 22nd, 2007, 09:08 PM that is definitely the freedom tower......
snow is red October 22nd, 2007, 09:38 PM For the spike, it does look like it but the rest does not
romanamerican October 23rd, 2007, 12:06 AM HO come on....a bit of fantasy...they got the Freedom Tower and ruined it a bit....
Bandit October 23rd, 2007, 02:12 AM The Freedom Tower is an a ugly building then. It was already ruined in origin.
Phobos October 23rd, 2007, 02:36 AM Very "original" design!
I would never have such an idea by myself.
allan_dude October 23rd, 2007, 04:10 AM It looks better than Freedom tower!
Ebola October 23rd, 2007, 04:49 AM [^Nah, they ruined something sleek and classy.]
Wow, this has to be the most unique building on the face of this planet!
(I do like the diagrid though, if that is a diagrid - need a close up.)
Second City October 23rd, 2007, 08:11 AM WOW! That is an amazing design....
UD2 October 23rd, 2007, 01:18 PM what is that building to the left designed with a mixture of Blobitecture and modernist architecture?
it's an eye sore. another example of just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should.
Kailyas February 19th, 2008, 06:22 AM cool design and the most important the height would be around 415m. this would be great addition to Tianjin's skyline.
Densetsu February 19th, 2008, 08:48 AM ^^ same height as trump tower in chicago :colgate:
davee08 February 19th, 2008, 03:51 PM i love the new masterplan of tianjin CBD and 415m wow but hope it gets approved and built quickly seems to be competition among chinese cities on who has the better CBD masterplans
z0rg February 20th, 2008, 02:29 PM I noticed this at Goettsch Partners website. The link isn't available, just listed, so they haven't published the design by the moment. I guess it is the same project as this.

z0rg April 16th, 2008, 03:05 AM New design? I can count 110 floors, 97 if we exclude the light blue part, which are probably technical floors. You can see the render on the wall too.

Like others said the old render looks like the Freedom Tower and I hate the Freedom Tower.:bash:
Looking a bit "Trumpy" now.
 I guess we'll have to see what the facade will look like first.
Eric Offereins April 16th, 2008, 08:21 AM The new model looks better, assuming they will have some decent cladding
Densetsu April 16th, 2008, 08:29 AM is that the new design? :bash:
it used to look like freedom tower but now it looks like a mixture of sears & trump tower
alexela April 16th, 2008, 11:29 AM yeah. I wont be surprised if tomorrow it will look like chi spire.
z0rg April 16th, 2008, 01:40 PM It looks a little like Chicao Trump tower indeed, which looks very much like Nanjing Greenland Plaza. So we better say that this tower looks like Nanjing Greenland Plaza.

What makes you assume Greenland Plaza came first? The earliest thread I was able to find on it in the forum came from mid 2005. The oldest I could find on Trump came from January 2003, and it sounded like it had been proposed for quite some time before that, as well, possibly even prior to Sept 11, 2001.

Wow, didn't know that the Trump Tower had been proposed so early. Nanjing GP was started in early 2005, and proposed as soon as 2003 since I remember I saw some images soon after registering. But not as soon as 2001, that's sure.
ElVoltageDR April 16th, 2008, 03:42 PM The first design had a fugly facade. The second one is better. I'm a bit more interested in what seems to be the 2nd tallest building, with all the 'holes'.

Myster E April 16th, 2008, 04:38 PM So this went from being 415m to 500m then Zorg? That's quite a jump, that means Tianjin will now have 2 500+ m buildings hypothetically speaking. Whoa, amazing!

No official info by the moment, but seems so. The structure has 110 floors plus a spire, should be above 500m. On the other hand, who knows wether it is the final design.
ZZ-II April 16th, 2008, 06:44 PM it's ok, but could be better :)

I agree. The other tower (Sino-Steel) "steals the show". There are 2 other projects in the model that might end up looking pretty good (the yellow one and the one to its right).

z0rg November 7th, 2010, 03:17 AM Goettsch Partners Unwrap Tianjin Supertall
Published on 07-11-2010 by Skyscrapernews.com
Coming from the pens of Goettsch Partners is another supertall tower proposed for the Chinese city of Tianjin.
With a height of 439 metres, the scheme is being developed by Guangzhou R&F Properties as a mixed use development to contain 294,570 square metres of space and 91 occupiable levels. This will include 134,900 square metres of grade A office space, 55 condos, a 400 bedroom five star hotel, and 8,550 square metres of retail on the lower floors.
The tower is designed to set back as it rises and as the number of service cores in the building that host 55 lifts decrease. This means that despite the shrinking size of the tower on the upper levels, the space between the core and the building perimeter will actually be the same as on the lower floors.
Working as a slickly glazed affair, the tower has been planned to have what appears to be an unwrapping motion as it rises. Along with the curving corners on the building, this is intended to reference ancient Chinese scrolls. Exploiting this concept are the atria located at every point that the tower unwraps whilst on top of each will be a landscaped roof.
Construction has yet to begin on site as the architects are still working on polishing the design, but they expect the scheme to be completed in 2015 making an impressive counterpoint to the nearby Sinosteel Tower.

Þróndeimr November 7th, 2010, 10:59 AM ^^ nice to see some proper renderings of it, and it looks really good.
For exact plot location, check Urbika (http://urbika.com/projects/view/4117-r-amp-f-tower).
A more detailed description can be found on Goettsch Partners website.
Goettsch Partners (GP) has been commissioned by developer Guangzhou R&F Properties Co. Ltd. to design a new 294,570-square-meter mixed-use tower in the city of Tianjin, China. Occupying a central parcel in the city’s newly planned business district, Tianjin R&F Guangdong Tower will be one of China’s tallest buildings at 439 meters. The complex features 134,900 square meters of Class A office space, a 400-key five-star hotel, 55 condominiums, and 8,550 square meters of retail. The tower is designed to establish a signature visual profile in the city skyline and provide a destination for the people of Tianjin and beyond.
The building’s design responds to the programmatic needs of each function, as well as to the decreasing size of the core. The tower unwraps around its vertical axis as it ascends, similar in nature to a shell or ancient scroll. In this manner, the form relates to the historical context of the site’s location in the Tanggu district, a point of sea trade. The unwinding form also creates unique opportunities to introduce multi-story atria into the program in each vertical zone. These landscaped interior spaces provide ideal circulation for multi-floor tenants, daylighting for deeper lease spans, and inviting social meeting spaces within the building’s upper floors. The landscaped interiors are an instrumental part of the overall environmental sensitivity to the new downtown’s iconic centerpiece.
Clearly defining the building’s circulation pattern is critical to achieving a successful mixed-use project. The site’s vehicular circulation is divided by function for efficient access to the tower from the main roads. Pedestrian circulation is further segregated throughout the site, with a landscaped plaza on the building’s north side that creates a welcoming arrival space for the complex. Internally, each of the primary building programs is separated at the ground floor, providing clear and intuitive wayfinding for the occupants. Access from the ground floor to each of the primary building functions is then provided by a network of 55 elevators, which quickly and efficiently deliver guests to their destinations within the tower.
The primary palette of high-performance glass and metal is employed for the exterior design of the building. Floor-to-ceiling glass maximizes views and ambient light, as well landscaped roofs and interior atriums for both their visual and energy benefits. The design promotes material and façade approaches that are integral to the performance of the building systems, not decorative. Above all, the architectural “skin” seeks to positively impact the pedestrian scale through transparency and texture, while minimizing the project’s environmental footprint.
The project is currently finishing design and is scheduled for completion in 2015.
Goettsch Partners is a Chicago-based architecture firm providing innovative architectural, interior, planning and building enclosure design services. With additional offices in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, the firm’s work spans four continents. Recently completed projects include premier office towers in Beijing, Chicago and Shanghai, and luxury business hotels in China, India and the United States. Select current projects include the new Chicago office of international law firm Baker & McKenzie; the North American headquarters of pharmaceutical company Astellas in Glenview, Illinois; Northwestern University’s new signature music building in Evanston, Illinois; China’s Grand Hyatt Chengdu at Chicony Plaza, which integrates a 450-key hotel and one of the country’s largest department stores; a 900-room Hilton hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and a 3 million-square-foot office development in Abu Dhabi that features the headquarters building of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

Vito Corleone November 25th, 2011, 04:21 PM Hi All,
There has been a revision to the design. There are now multiple spires, which are a bit shorter. Here are the heights taken from an elevation drawing:
tip of spires - 468 m.
top of parapet - 420 m.
mechanical PH roof - 401 m.
highest occupiable floor- 384 m.
Munwon November 26th, 2011, 05:13 AM Hi Vito! Any rendering of the new design? Seems interesting with multi-spires
charles54 November 26th, 2011, 09:55 AM wow is that the core of the tower it looks very big. and why do all buildings in china at the early stages of construction have some green net and scaffolding structures around them?
patrykus November 26th, 2011, 02:23 PM ^^ This is not the main tower. It hasn't started digging yet. It's going to be located behind this one in green net on the same site.
