scowler August 9th, 2003, 09:45 PM Anyone else find The Sims incredibly depressing?
Don't know why I found this cos I like god games such as Civ and Sim City.
In my Sims games there always seemed to be an air of hopelessness and desperation...after 30 minutes I had to pack it it.
:?

How is that possible?! :? The game is not that huge. Then again, my hard drive is 180 gigs. :D
Trances November 27th, 2003, 09:09 PM hmm its like 12 Cds all up

I have all but the last 2 ! Takes up quite a bit of space ( am yet to install)
Devilution November 28th, 2003, 01:36 PM Amazing looking game this is! But this means only one thing... it´s off to the PC hardware store again. I´d imagine the HW requirements for sims 2 are kinda large! :)
Style™ November 28th, 2003, 04:42 PM The game will probably require as much as Sim City 4. Looking at those screen shots it just might. :bash:
Trances, did you buy every single new expansion pack? It got too expensive for me at House Party. That is lots of money!
dinp November 28th, 2003, 04:46 PM yeash she has almost every expansion pack, so it gobbles up loads of hard disc space, luckily i got my own pc now, and ive only got Warcraft!
Style™ November 28th, 2003, 04:59 PM That's jus insanity! Warcraft, that's the only thing you need. Other than Sim City 4! ;)
Bahraini Spirit December 13th, 2003, 02:36 AM looks great cant wait to get one, i love the sims first game awesome and innovative.
for pp who worried about the specs, here they are:
If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM (such as nvidia GeForce 2 or better or ATI Radeon 7000 or better) then you need at least:
600 MHz P3 processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
128 MB RAM if Windows 98
If you have a non-T&L capable video card (such as TNT2 or Intel Integrated for example) then you need at least:
1.5 GHz processor
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
128 MB RAM if Windows 98
Recommended video cards (and the more video memory the better):
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Nvidia Geforce 4 or FX series cards
Brizbane2 December 19th, 2003, 08:53 AM Those images look great. However it just looks like a graphics upgrade to me. Like the movement from SC2000 to SC3000. I suspect that Sims 2 will not be different enough to satisfy those who are bored with the gameplay in Sims.
Maxis has become expert at getting people hooked on their games. Convincing people to buy expansion pack after expansion pack....

There's about one video card that exists that is better than the 9800 Pro... the 9900 Pro. Maybe the 9800/9900 XTs are better too. They're pretty damn expensive and meeting minimum requirements means shit - unless you don't mind playing in 640x480 with detail as low as possible with frequent occurrences of lag.
Now when they say GeForce 4 series - that's just stupid. The Geforce 4 MX 440 is utter crap and the Geforce 2 Ti performs way better than it (that's a fact). The GF4 Ti is when they start to become decent.
Personally I recommend ATi graphics cards - they currently outperform nVidia cards.
Actually almost all of the system requirements seem a tad unrealistic/misleading.
Trust me, there is no way in hell a TNT2 could render graphics like that - even with a 3Ghz CPU. Maybe it could but if you want to play a game a 1 fps, I won't stop you.

Trances December 22nd, 2003, 10:28 PM hmm buy ?
not there to discuss ethics
Lets just to say that I have them all
