Guys… there is something strange about the new Abdali’s master plan!; where is the American University of Jordan?

What’s happening?

The Abdali project is just getting more mysterious, the second phase is not the last one, they managed the final land area to be more than 3 million square metres, not just the curent space.

The Abdali project is just the start to the new Amman, Amman will completely change from East to West.

It was canceled from Abdali for an unknown reason, poor unlucky project :ohno: maybe someone thought real estate is more profitable than education, really annoying :bash:

It's best not to have one, I went to one and they suck. American universities are overrated, I'd go with a British one if I were them.

they managed to buy more land in the area , and decided to go towers as beeing more profitable...............and they have a land dispute with ag group

110 million dollars is more than enough for a 'high quality' university... Unless it includes the land cost... Depending, it still sounds do-able... Don't be silly...

People are obsessed with American university this, american university that... I agree with the guy about the british universities comment... In Bahrain soo many are dying to open an american university, although the newly established Higher Education Council has put a stop to the granting of licenses for private universities left and right, as was the case a few yrs ago...

that was a stupid move dont you know that it comes in steps ! first is knownledge and with knownledge it gives you power and with power you give others knownledge !!!!

R U calling me silly?? That's impolite . These are not my own words but ABDALI PSJC CEO in a visit to Dubai. The spec's designed AUJ were very high and yes $110 Million don't great a high quality university. Thanx for the link.... But i still think 110$ million is enough, lol... I'm not just guessing, i'm comparing to projects here, and the budgets set for some of our new private universities in Bahrain such as Ahlia Univeristy, and the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (MUB)...

So as i said before, maybe the budget is supposed to include the land, which in that case would be not enough, or else they're planning a university with a capacity of 15,000+ students or something....

AUB in beirut gets close to $160 in cash funding YEARLY (mainly from the US government), and it only has 5000 students, so $110 would definately fall short of making this university from scratch within the same standards as other AU universities.

As far as i know ''USAID provides $35 million assistance a year and works in partnership with U.S. and Lebanese organizations throughout the country.'' And that means all American institutions in Lebanon, not just AUB, which i'm sure would still be the biggest benificiary.

I don't know how much AUB is getting but in addition to USAID, AUB & AUC are partially funded by New York State.

Keep in mind, a reason the University is not built is not just because of construction costs. Especially with education, the money needed is more for non-building related reasons. For example, a university needs to fund millions$$ in endownments/scholarships. Also, many positions in the education field are guaranteed under contract; especially if they plan on recruiting foreign nationals. They would need to secure funds for the full contract terms up front.

So basically, they may be able to build a campus for 110 million, but maybe they need another 100 million to fund treasury/finance operations. Total cost of operations is too high, so they forgo the construction.

well instead of the university, there will more towers poping all over the place.... the hights, vertex. and ofcourse, capital tower... not to mention th others... well there is alot of competition on building towers these days for commercial uses instead of building universities... and a better place to build the university woul definetly be either the airport highway or maybe near the city mall area.....

I'm doing my graduation project about the jordanian parliament, can I have these master plans of al abdali in a good quality? :) It would be so great if you can help me
