It's one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the US...

The suburb of Mesa is actually larger than wellknown cities as St Louis, Miami or Cleveland (city propers).

Its a very dead looking city with a small non-specific skyline considering its size and rank of 5th largest US city. Looks like Las Vegas without casinos. Phoenix is really hot so people spend a lot of time indoors.

I have been to Phoenix, en route to San Diego, and to be honest it reminds of a bit of the cities in the Gulf States of the Middle East. Nice but lifeless.

phoenix really isnt lifeless, it all depends where you go. downtown is becoming better, but a lot of the action is centered around scottsdale and tempe. old town and the waterfront are filled with shops, restaurants, and people walking around. same with mill ave in tempe.

phoenix still is catching up to its rapid growth. i definitely wouldnt consider it "lifeless" because there are so many new buildings and business centers popping up all over the valley. i cant imagine somebody who wouldnt enjoy traveling to phoenix, except in summer.

summer, i would agree, is pretty lifeless, just considering temperatures are 110.

As much as I am not Phoenix fan at all at any level, you got to admit, those rugged mountains as a backdrop are beautiful.

What is being done to add more life to the downtown streets?

theres a new project to replace patriots park and turn it into a bunch of shops called cityscape. also the jackson entertainment district is trying to get built in downtown, but i dont really know what thats supposed to be. theyre trying to make downtown phoenix into a residential/entertainment district with all the condos and new buildings being built.

Where is this "waterfront?"

the waterfront is is downtown scottsdale along the canal. its kind of an addition to fashion square mall, but with condos and more shops and restaurants. and its outdoors and walkable

i've heard that in Phoenix area is developing the film industry because it's similar to L.A (especially in scottsdale)
but i wanted to ask about education in phoenix, is there any good university??
phoenix is close to biosphere 2 so maybe biological stuffs are popular there ??

It isn't similar to LA in any way... maybe Palm Springs is a better comparison.

Great photos ROGuy!
