Interesting choice. The Pyramid is one of the main characters of the city but for some reason it never gets enough attention.
Probably cause it's not as close to the square as it should be.

Ventilator_BGD November 8th, 2007, 04:51 AM Why everybody associate Belgrade with Genex tower?! Funny... Didnt know it was so speciall :-)
I won't talk just about landmarks, ill make a list for each city of my asociations in global sense, mostly the first sensual experiences of those cities in my mind.
Athens: Akropolis, everything the same, same white buildings all over the field...
Belgrade: Influence of two big rivers, forests, sunset, good chicks, ugly rooftop constructions, old/new architecture, brutalism, carton city, trafic mess, dirty facades, arrogance, mosquitos, great suburbs, mixture of everything... A lot of criticism, actually, i know this city the best of all, so i m personal, cannot associate it with just a few things, but with the hole life.
Bratislava: The view over UFO bridge, in background baroque castle,
Bucharest: Palace of the Parliament, advertizing on facades, gray, trafic, triumf gate, france style, a lot of empty spaces, potential
Budapest: Parliament Building, pornography, kings residence?, bridges,
Chisinau: /
Kyiv: Area around Independence Square, watter, huge monument made by Serbian artist...
Ljubljana: tripple bridge, fortress on the hill, small streets with bars, clean, France Presern (because of a school named by him in my neighbourhood in Belgrade), beer...
Minsk: Army parades, wide boulevards...
Moscow: Ahh, a lot of that, its just like when u ask me association of complete serbia
Podgorica: Millenium bridge, 6 beautifull rivers, hot(too hot) weather, arogance, good projects, lot of potentials, good cars, the republic square...
Prague: uhh... city museum, cannot compare it with neither of cities of eastern europe, tales architecture, civilization, style, clean, everything...
Riga: cold...
Sarajevo: syntesis of east and west (architecturally), waley, music, coffie on bashcarshija, tulumbe, baklave, Momo and Uzeir towers, snipers, granates, romance...it reminds me actually on Uzice, but a lot bigger :-)
Skopje: That big metal cross on a hill, Castle, sunset, brutalism, car Dushans bridge, central square, remains of old Skopje (mmmm), old railway station, earthquake, crazy drivers...
Sofia: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, revitalization, corruption, gypsies, st sofia monument, parliament, bad streets and trotoars, azis and gloria, kings residence, theatre and the fountain, warm people...
Tallinn: cold
Tirana: hmmm... urbanistic chaos, hi dense populated, nice offbuild projects, skenderbeg square, active city, dirty...
Tiraspol: /
Vilnius: Bell Tower in Gediminas Square, cold
Warsaw: huge, wide boulevards, skyline, nice moderna, II war destruction, Palace of culture / science
Zagreb: Continuity in historical developement, clean, nice parks, rail lift to the upper town, ban jelacic square, arrogance and formalism, perspective...
I was just honniest, those are my first associations, its not personal, and so i hope i won't hurt anybody.
Ventilator_BGD November 8th, 2007, 04:57 AM Interesting choice. The Pyramid is one of the main characters of the city but for some reason it never gets enough attention.

ZimasterX November 8th, 2007, 05:07 AM .. and guys why are you all choosing Genex tower for Belgrade? are you just rewriting from the first post?
