I was talking to someone from a planning department in New Mexico yesterday and they were taking about Santa Fe - 'its a bit different' she said 'in fact they're so proud of being different they use it as their branding' and indeed they do - if you Google, Santa Fe they use the tagline - 'A City Different' - I like it and appeals to what I love about Liverpool - its 'a city different'

this got me round to thinking what the city should use to brand itself they've tried a few.

Maritime - hardly any ships these days apart from fuck off bright red ones
Culture - maybe -if we can pull off 2008
Architectural - whatever happened to that ?
A world in one city - not bad !

I still like Santa Fe's - 'A city different'

So what would YOU use to brand the city

Any lurkers who suggest 'bin-dipper city', 'litter city', 'self-pity city' or 'one team one city' can see me round the back :bash:

Liverpool. Made history, making history. (add Liver bird logo here)

Of course it would help enormously to have a picture of the Mersey Barrage with a ship passing through and a hi-rise luxury hotel built on reclaimed land at one end. Bootle to Wallasey. Oh, and do paint things sea-green again!

I'm not a fan of brands for cities. Obviously city's have logos and symols, and their councils do - but as for a brand image.....I don't think it's necessary. I'd not like to see Liverpool try to develop a brand image, but I think your idea is a good one if the city does do that.........."Liverpool.....be different".

especially Mr Nads

love to see that on the M62 .......... "You are now entering Liverpool .....if you don't like us etc"

wait - I'm sure Ive seen something similar written on the walls by the Rocket to that effect already or maybe it was in the Mersey Tunnel

Agree with you poli its a very 'USA' kind of thing and Id prefer a city's 'brand' naturally develop based on its reputation - just a bit of fun to see what people came up with.

Based on the plan to put lots of superlambananas around the city next year
how about 'Liverpool - superlambananacity' - roles off the tongue after a few pints doesnt it

I m may see if I can find one or two obscure ones here the US to post.
