It seems Zürich is going to be the Swiss Manhattan eh ;)
If you have almost only 80m-towers, a 150m one may stick out a lot - and nearly look like a supertall! Quite clever, cheeseguys  Leap ahead!

Primetower/126m (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=530032)
So....maybe in two or three years there will be something around 200m, hopefuly ;)
The area around the "Hardbrücke" is doing well - even if the highrises can't keep up with Frankfurt (Mainhatten) or the original Manhattan
If all projects are going to be realised there will be around 4 80m-Towers, 1 125m-Tower and around 6 ~60m-Towers in the vincinity which I think is not so bad for mid-european city...
Ralphkke November 18th, 2007, 08:38 PM This looks very nice, congratz Zurich:)

yeah i wish they would knock it down and not building it :-( its not much better than commieblocks.
webeagle12 January 29th, 2009, 05:57 PM yeah i wish they would knock it down and not building it :-( its not much better than commieblocks.
its looks nothing like commieblocks. Just because building has sharp edges, its a commieblock? :)
The other Dude January 30th, 2009, 04:05 PM well the long building in the back looks like a commieblock to me, but its just a render.
what i really dont like are the random shape of the 3 lowrises. there really is nothing esthetic about those. a city needs kind of a clear structure imho. i like it clear and simple ;-)

DeltaMetropolis February 28th, 2009, 04:32 PM ^^ This is a realy good project for Zurich. I'm every year in Zurich with the Street Parade and have friends there, so i now the location and the city. Its not so close to the centre of the city. The four towers in the last picture, are next to the road if you're traveling to Basel. There are not many highrises in Zurich, are there more plans you now off?

I don't think that one of these projects could be at risk because of the crisis, three projects are already under construction.
roscha February 28th, 2009, 10:45 PM The projects should all still get built because the housing market in switzerland hasn't been hit by the crises yet and is not expected to be hit hard in the near future. The cause is mainly that developers have been cautious in the past and with the free movement of persons agreement with the european union many people have come to switzerland.

Erebus555 April 17th, 2009, 03:44 AM I have a lot of respect for Switzerland and its attitude towards modern architecture but this project is one of the worst examples I have seen from the country. The shapes are tolerable but the details are not. The long, rectangular building is a true let down and definitely harks back to the Commieblock days.

Yes, most people in Zürich are looking forward to the new towers. :)

steve5 October 21st, 2010, 08:50 PM Mobimo Holding AG, 21.10.2010:
Mobimo is investing around CHF 200 million in the development and construction of a residential complex in Zurich West containing approximately 250 apartments and a service area on the ground floor.
Mobimo Holding AG ('Mobimo') has acquired an 18,540m2 property from Coop Immobilien AG. The property is located in Zurich West (City West) directly to the south of the Mobimo Tower site. An agreement has also been signed with Marazzi Generalunternehmung AG to realise the jointly-developed three sites A, B and C. The plans involve the construction of some 250 apartments that conform to the Minergie standard, a car park in the basement and around 1,500m2 of commercial space over the next three years. This will entail investments of about CHF 200 million.
Zurich West needs more residential space
The area around Escher-Wyss-Platz and along Pfingstweidstrasse will play an important role in urban development. The Zurich authorities expect several thousand jobs to be created in the area over the next few years, meaning that around 4,000 individuals/households are likely to be on the look out for an apartment. Coupled with the currently very low apartment vacancy rate in the City of Zurich (June 2010: 0.7%), the launch of new residential projects in the city's up-and-coming Kreis 5 area represents an attractive proposition. Mobimo will provide part of this required residential space by the end of 2012/mid-2013 and thus contribute to the development of the district.
High-quality urban living
Although a number of other projects have already been launched in the district, only around 800 new residential units are likely to come onto the market in Zurich West in the next 3-4 years - significantly fewer, in other words, than will be required to cover the population increase envisaged by the City of Zurich. Mobimo will create around 100 rental apartments on site C. On sites A and B, Mobimo will construct around 150 condominium apartments and sell them in the mid-price segment. There are few alternatives available in this segment, as most current condominium projects are in the higher-price segment.
Zurich West has excellent transport links, meaning that the future Mobimo apartments will also be easy to access. The new Zurich West tram will be virtually on residents' doorsteps, while the Hardbrücke S-Bahn station is only a few minutes' walk away. Comprehensive retail and leisure facilities will contribute to the urban quality of life, while the new 'Pfingstweidpark', immediately adjacent to the planned development, will also offer an attractive new place to relax.
Expanding the residential component in the overall portfolio
By completing 100 rental apartments Mobimo is implementing the planned strategic expansion of the residential component in the overall portfolio in a focused manner.
The Mobimo Tower
Work on the Mobimo Tower is running to schedule, and the facades are complete. The interior work will continue until summer 2011, so that the Mobimo Tower can be transferred to its new users - hotel and residential property owners - in late summer 2011.

Sheila Baxter March 28th, 2011, 03:27 PM That looks like a commieblock. There’s no doubt about it. The building that surround it, are not cool either. I think a major change in the overall aesthetics should do well. Nothing looks better or encouraging, when you were brought back memories of a sad era. Right?
Well, that’s my personal opinion!

Sure, its not revolutionary from an architectural point of view but IMO its got a high quality finish, good materials, all in all very solid and I like it. I'm in no doubt its going to work very well. BTW Thank you for all the updates!

steve5 October 9th, 2011, 05:50 PM Mobimo Holding AG, 07.10.2011:
Foundation stone laid for 239 apartments in the development 'Am Pfingstweidpark'
After extensive preparatory work the foundation stone was today laid for the residential development 'Am Pfingstweidpark' in Zurich West. By autumn 2013, a total of 239 new rental and condominium apartments in the mid-price segment will be built in this attractive residential location with good transport connections directly adjacent to the recently completed Mobimo Tower. The sale of the condominiums has already got off to a successful start and the leasing of the rental apartments is scheduled to commence at the beginning of 2012.
The three seven-storey residential buildings will be constructed alongside the almost simultaneously completed buildings of the Maag site, the new high-rises Mobimo Tower and Prime Tower and the Technopark - the ideal location for urban-dwellers who want individual accommodation in the heart of a new and lively city quarter. The development also borders the Pfingstweid park planned by the city of Zurich and is situated directly on the new Zurich West tramline. It is aimed to obtain the Minergie label for all three residential buildings.
Buildings A and B will house 143 condominium studios, lofts and apartments scheduled to be completed by autumn 2013, while building C will see completion of 96 rental apartments and 1,300 square metres of commercial/retail space by summer 2013. The well thought-out design of the three elongated rectangular buildings contains a total of 32 different types of apartment - each with its own particular floor plan, exciting interior and an attractive view of the railtracks or park. The entire development was designed by Zurich architects Meili, Partner Artchitekten AG.
The sales figures to date show how strong the need for urban living in the pulsating heart of Zurich West is. In the space of just one month 1/3 of the apartments in buildings A and B have been sold. The leasing of the rental apartments in building C is due to start in early 2012.
The investment volume amounts to some CHF 200 million and the project will be developed and realised by total general contractors Losinger Marazzi AG.
Further information is available on www.am-pfingstweidpark.ch. Mobimo has opened a showroom with a model apartment in Puls 5 for the sale and leasing of the apartments. This also provides a direct impression of the entire development and the individual residential units by means of a large-scale model.

Zurich's Residential High-rise - The Zölly Residences
The “Zölly” project proceeds on schedule - marketing of owner-occupied apartments started in October 2011
Between 2012 and 2014, a 23-story residential high-rise named Zölly will reach into the sky in the former industrial and now trendy district of Zürich West. Owner and full-service contractor, Losinger Marazzi AG, anticipates building approval by the City of Zürich at the beginning of 2012. Final coordination is taking place in close collaboration between the project sponsors and the City of Zürich urban development department.
The 134 owner-occupied apartments, spanning from 70 to 140 square meters, or 754 to 1,512 square feet, will be built on the site of the former distribution centre for the Swiss retailer Coop, adjacent to the planned Pfingstweid Park and in the vicinity of the Zürich Hardbrücke railway station, the Prime Tower, and the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel. Marketing has started in mid-October 2011, and construction is planned to start in early 2012. The apartments are scheduled to be ready for occupation in the summer of 2014. Prices range up to CHF1,500,000, or US$1,650,000 per apartment.
Losinger Marazzi has presented the design of the residential high-rise, created by the Zürich architectural office of Meili, Peter Architekten. According to the architects' plans, all of the one-bedroom studios, two- and three-bedroom apartments have a loggia, balcony, or terrace. These exterior spaces are a characteristic element of the building’s appearance.
Above the ground-floor public area, Zölly is planned as an exclusively residential building. This assures the future homeowners of an undisturbed residential atmosphere. The residential high-rise will be certified in accordance with MINERGIE-Eco© standards. MINERGIE is the registered Swiss quality label for low-energy-consumption buildings and the MINERGIE-Eco Standard adds ecological requirements such as recyclability, indoor air quality, noise protection, and so on to the regular MINERGIE©-Requirements. Therefore Zölly will also set new ecological standards.
According to Jürgen Friedrichs, Losinger Marazzi’s Director of Zürich Property Development, the owner-occupied apartments will appeal to an urban-oriented clientele that appreciates the vibrant pioneering character of Zurich West, with its hip art galleries, shops, and restaurants, all within steps of excellent infrastructure. The new district will enjoy superb local and long-distance public transport connections by the time Zölly will be ready to move-in, including the new Zurich West tram line and the soon-to-be-completed Zurich Hardbrücke railway station.

Zölly
The name Zölly was inspired by the engineer and pioneer Heinrich Zoelly (born 1862 in Mexico City, died 1937 in Zurich). As technical director of the Zürich machinery manufacturer Escher, Wyss & Cie, this son of an immigrant from the Klettgau area played a decisive role in development of an innovative, multi-stage steam turbine (the Zoelly turbine). In 1912, Zoelly was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Federal Technical High School in Zurich for his accomplishments.
