climbing_crane October 7th, 2003, 10:34 AM So are we still going to see it top out by years end.
Fabian October 7th, 2003, 11:51 AM I don't think so. Early next year?
Noonos October 7th, 2003, 02:24 PM just by looking at culs pic, how tall will it be when it tops out? like comparison to crane or something around it...
Fabian October 7th, 2003, 09:54 PM It will be 138 metres tall when it tops out or roughly the main roof of HSBC.

Rialto will be 137m tall or same height has nearby Park Regis !or half way up HSBC plantrooms. or near top of crane. or 40m higher than Energy Oz.:D
Fabian October 9th, 2003, 09:56 AM Rialto today from Pitt St

climbing_crane October 10th, 2003, 02:49 AM That's about a 3/10 Fabian :)
Fabian October 10th, 2003, 03:47 AM It wasn't all that good. I though it was the same spot as in August but it wasn't. I took it from further up the street.
Muse October 10th, 2003, 01:33 PM Initial rendering of Rialto aka Lobana @ 45 levels above ground:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid36/p6932e478b6cfd7a30a8eecb2645a97cb/fd246e9e.jpg
Anyway today while I was passing on Bathurst Street, in regard to this construction, I counted the floor plates up to level 25.
So that means another 20 levels to go, before reaching its very top crown @ 138m.
Fabian October 10th, 2003, 02:39 PM Rialto is now visible from the west as shown on this webcam on the Anzac Bridge. The core is visible but only just

Muse October 10th, 2003, 08:27 PM Fabian,
In your webcam shot where on earth is Rialto? Do mean that small crane just visbile under the eastern ANZAC Bridge's triangular tower? If so, can just barely see it. Glad you can Fabian.
Where's the binoculars? Oh, here they are.....
Blink, blink:

Fabian October 10th, 2003, 11:08 PM Excellent spotting Muse. Thats the right spot.;)
CULWULLA October 13th, 2003, 02:21 AM core rise!! Ill get a pic ;later. now well above Energy Oz. The core is now at level 43 or 33 above ground. so 9 floors to go.Above this is the top 6m which has no concrete, so this will be steel framed colour bond glad panelling! So this wont be added for a while, probably when floor plate catches up after it tops out.

Trances October 13th, 2003, 08:08 AM Yep I was back in sydney to day
it can be seen from the novtel
Get a photo once there is a little more change
fro October 13th, 2003, 09:20 PM This tower is more challenging than most of Sydney's other towers to photograph it seems.. It's wedged in between to other towers and it's surrounded by many others...
But what about Fabians pics, awesome attempt at being the most Difficult to Spot award. LOL, I love the Anzac bridge web cam shot and Muse's reply. Good work Fabs! :D
Keep it up guys!
Fabian October 13th, 2003, 10:02 PM You shouldn't have much of a problem getting images now, particularly distance shots. Try East Sydney and Darling Harbour and for a real challenge - Sydney Harbour
CULWULLA October 14th, 2003, 06:01 AM 2day-looking tall-

Trances October 14th, 2003, 10:53 AM I am starting to Like that Glass now it can be seen very clean and bright.
But yes its a shame it so hidden. If soem thing every happens to the woolies site it will be realy blocked in !
Tony P October 14th, 2003, 03:08 PM The Woolies building is going to be knocked down and replaced by a park (a 'public square' to be exact). I hope the northern facsade won't be typical boring Meritonia, because in 10 years it is going to be very prominent from Town Hall and the square where Woolies now is!
Muse October 14th, 2003, 03:25 PM Gee, I really like the Woolies Building, yet the planned park would be excellent too. Let's have both; a full-on park atop of Woolies.
Passed Rialto earlier this evening and the glass fin on the corner had internal lights blazing. Looked absolutely fantastic.
Counted the floor-plates. Now up to level 29, so another 16 levels to go before topping out.
Trances October 14th, 2003, 03:39 PM Really a park on a such a prime spot !
first I have heard of this
how did it happen

I really do too and I'm going to hate to see it go. Both Citigroup and the Woolies building have these lovely rounded corners that compliment each other so much. I just love looking down Park Street from the QVB (Jet Cafe) or Town Hall with these 2 rounded corners framing the street (or from the top of Town Hall House, heehee ;))

I had renderings of that until it got thrown out (not by me). They were even thinking of building a public building such as a library.
climbing_crane October 15th, 2003, 11:27 AM Getting hard to focus the whole building from this well known spot.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid83/p9d5671f5ca267a057cc3f681553cca4c/fad1eb25.jpg
zion October 15th, 2003, 06:13 PM Its starting look great, though I wish Sydney streets are a bit more wider, for a better view.
Are they really going to knock down Woolie building? Its nice old looking building worth restoring. The building that should be knock down are ones built in 1960s. E.g. Melbourne's Gas Fuel and built Federation Square (public place)
Trances October 15th, 2003, 06:37 PM Sorry kinda gettng of track here still but Woolies thing is distracting me
Seems to be prime land to be used for such a propose and what of the other older towers around it that dont provide much space. Would expect some time in meduim term future for this to be a good side if you inculde back to Pitt Street
This may views north for Rialto
Fabian October 15th, 2003, 10:03 PM The plan actually calls for just about every scraper in the block bounded by Pitt St, Park St, George and Bathurst to be pulled down. Rialto and Energy Australia would stay and the area would become a public square.
climbing_crane October 16th, 2003, 12:45 PM Back to Rialto. Didn't anyone read Culwulla's message a few weeks back?

Fabian October 21st, 2003, 07:10 AM When you look at Rialto from that angle, it looks like it is attached to energy australia building, even though it isn't.
climbing_crane October 21st, 2003, 12:39 PM This is a photo of a photo. So a little blurred.

Looks like your having trouble getting it all in shot these days :)
Muse October 23rd, 2003, 12:07 AM Rialto's floor plates now up to level 30, another 15 levels to go plus the crown before reaching its full height @ 138m/452ft.

CULWULLA October 23rd, 2003, 01:00 AM 137m is Rialto's official height!!
top pic Muse. This one is turning out to be a great looking block of flats!!
come November, it should really start to impact the Sydney Square precinct!

there only toilets/laundry anyway. the council requirements made sure of this, when a wall is only 3m away!

You wouldn't like people in an office tower perving on you while you are in the toilet?

climbing_crane October 24th, 2003, 04:55 PM Dare I say it but was this a quadruple core rise. If not it certainly looks like the biggest rise all year.

I was refering to how slow we are in responding to core rises etc.
And doesn't anyone notice how slender Rialto is turning out in comparison to surrounding scrapers?

skyscraperpage isnt 100%. ss.com is! I put ALL the height data on ss.com from my digital height data from work, i have NO responsiblity for ssp data. Ive tried to assist Kay with heights but sometimes other illustrators "make up' heights ect. its a shame.
If your looking for heights/year of construction/no of storeys- then go to ss.com! if your after a small diagram of a building which might be correct go to ssp!
cheers
CULWULLA October 27th, 2003, 03:27 AM from QVB today. the views from these apartments will be nothing short of fantastic!

Fabian October 27th, 2003, 03:28 AM I agree Culwulla. Much of the view will probably never be built out which is a plus for the owners meriton.

Fabian October 30th, 2003, 12:47 PM That part of Bathurst St definately has Sydney's best skyscraper wall with the addition of Rialto.

Never
Much of that block it PRIME A GRADE space that one day( decades ) i hope would hae more despite current situ.

But half of the block (fronting George, Park and Pitt Streets) is owned by Sydney City Council with plans to eventual turn it into a new square for Sydney with a new library next to it - so basically the north side of Rialto will overlook a huge open plaza! So I think the views from the apartments will actually increase in the future, as opposed to being built out!
Also keep in mind that this will give better access to fantastic northern light for the apartments! I think a Rialto apartment would be a wise investment, if Meriton were offering them for sale.
Fabian November 1st, 2003, 01:15 AM I wonder if Meriton are actually aware of the potential that the tower has.
