View Full Version : Birmingham Christmas Pics
Elizabeth Kinoke November 18th, 2007, 01:26 PM Well there will be some great opportunities to snap some great Christmas scenes in the city this year, the German market is back and everything looked so festive the other night, I see that talking Moose or Reindeer thing is back again :) These two are just prior to the main decorations and market going up.

Elizabeth Kinoke November 18th, 2007, 01:53 PM cheers, just wait till V-Tower is in that shot as well, actually could be looking down on the square over a beer.
Steve-e-b November 18th, 2007, 02:21 PM Fantastic pics.
The town hall looks stunning in that second picture, like it's glowing with a divine light.
Makes me want to get out there with my camera and take some night time shots. Only problem is, some Germans have come and set up camp in Victoria Sqaure!
Hopkins 79 November 18th, 2007, 11:03 PM Just looked outside and everythings white!
TheOingoBoingoBandit November 21st, 2007, 06:52 PM Here's a couple more to add to the collection...

ultraviolet November 21st, 2007, 07:05 PM Couple of nice pics Boingo, my mrs loves the Bullring Xmas tree.
mikey23 November 21st, 2007, 07:13 PM Can someone explain the deal with the Christmas tree over by the markets. Its there all year round and its encased within some circular metal. Is it an art sculpture and i've missed the point? lol
feltip November 21st, 2007, 07:20 PM The tree is on top of the circular metal tube Mikey. It saves them having to take it down and put it up I guess. Not sure if the metal tube has a purpose other than sculptural.
I have grown to like the Bullring tree but im a traditionalist and with St Martin's next door I think a traditional tree would look better although it saves having to cut one down every year.
feltip November 21st, 2007, 07:20 PM oops, if someone can delete this please as it double posted.
Mercurius November 21st, 2007, 08:28 PM I too am a traditionalist with the christmas tree. Theres something miuch more appealing to me than an elctrical one. However the bull ring tree does look good and its quite big too!! I love Christmas!!!
bubblehad November 21st, 2007, 08:45 PM Very nice angles on the shots EK. I particularly like the second one.
A little tip for you would be to sharpen them up a bit and that would really bring out the detail on the buildings.
I think i'll have to get up town with my camera and concentrate on taking pictures of buildings that aren't derelict.

Steldemetriou November 23rd, 2007, 05:26 PM Bullring light will be turned on my Jameilia on Mon 3 Dec
Quote from Birmingham Mail
The Bullring lights will include twinkling snow flakes that will light up in time with Christmas music.
The display will light up the iconic Selfridges and shoppers will be able to enjoy it on the hour, every hour from 4pm throughout December.
feltip November 23rd, 2007, 06:18 PM Lights in the Mailbox and the newly installed escalators working.

Probably because the landlord (Hortons I presume?) charge a bumload for the rents! :ohno:
