SteelCity32 August 16th, 2003, 03:42 AM I like Charleston a lot. But I think it's skyline is pretty dull.
6/10
Talisker August 17th, 2003, 02:03 PM Doesn't exactly blow be away, but not so bad considering the city has only 300'000 people. In the background I can see a building with a gold dome that looks nice nice - shame it doesn't sit in the city centre with those other highrises. The tower with the pyramid roof looks good. 4/10
Evergrey August 17th, 2003, 04:39 PM The building with the gold dome is the West Virginia state capitol.
Fabio August 19th, 2003, 03:26 AM 5/10
just because of its size.
renell August 22nd, 2003, 06:57 PM 4.5 nothing much.
RafflesCity August 22nd, 2003, 07:33 PM Buildings look ok, but a few buildings on a street dont make a skyline.
4/10
SUNNI August 23rd, 2003, 03:21 AM ...its a boring skyline...

Evergrey September 16th, 2003, 05:46 PM Despite what all the naysayers here say... I think Charleston, WV has a rather impressive skyline for its size. It also has great natural beauty.
Charleston has that nice, glassy Laidley and superb older skyscrapers as well. It's truly an urban gem in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia.

lexkyguy December 18th, 2003, 01:28 AM The Capitol of my spouse's home state...I like Charleston. For it's size..not bad. heck my city is larger in pop. but hurts compared to the skyline.
jtown, man December 19th, 2003, 06:17 AM 6.5 When i saw charleston in person, i was actually suprised at how good the skyline was for the "pop". But now i come to find out the metro pop is like 300,000! But still, the skyline in decent for the pop and its in a very nice location.
Lmichigan December 19th, 2003, 11:08 PM You guys know that these photos are of Birmingham, Alabama and not Charleston, West Virginia, right?
SanMiguel December 20th, 2003, 08:03 AM hahaha i saw this thread first time now and i immediately saw
that there is something wrong!
Lmichigan is rite!
wake up ppl!!! that is Birmigham , Alabama :hilarious
WestVirginiaBoy March 10th, 2004, 01:44 PM What the hell, I thought I'd take the liberty of posting the most Northern of the Southern cities and the most Southern of the Northern cities. ;) Keep in mind that Charleston's skyline is exceptional for a population of 52,000! I like to refer to it as Robert C. Byrd's cum stain. BTW, this is a double post, I forgot to add the poll--I give it a 10 ;)

Nice city, but where are skyscrapers/churches/tall buildings?
CapitalCityCharlesto June 13th, 2004, 12:34 AM For a city with a city population of almost 60,000 and a metro population of over 300,000 people, the skyline is quite impressive. Especially at night, infact the population would be more, but so many people are moving into smaller towns outside of Charleston for cheaper home prices. They are considering merging the 2 largest cities in WV and making them one huge metropolitan area, they would merge Charleston and Huntington and give them a population of over 600,000 people.
SeeMacau June 15th, 2004, 09:31 AM Nice city .. but boring skyline
6.5/10
r2 June 29th, 2004, 02:17 AM not much of a skyline but the city seems to have held up well over the years ... looks cozy but this is a skyline thread and for a city of that size ... and west virginia isn't exactly a hot spot in terms of population growth or commercial activity ... it's not bad at all, kind of pretty in a really low key way
MattSal May 31st, 2005, 06:49 PM Looks half-bad. I give it a 5.5/10.
SoboleuS May 31st, 2005, 07:12 PM Skyline seems to be average, but we need more pics ;)

LMCA1990 July 29th, 2006, 07:20 AM 8/10- nicely developed for it's pop. i actually like it 'cause it reminds me of a 100 x's smaller bogota (colombia).
nano2192 July 30th, 2006, 02:37 AM i don't like it...is boring..5/10
JAB323 July 30th, 2006, 02:52 AM I like Charleston, but it's not really a skyline city.
panamaboy9016 July 30th, 2006, 05:36 AM About a 4.5! There is no skyline really.

icracked May 21st, 2007, 06:40 AM 2/10, Honolulu has a population in the 300,000s (399,000) to be exact and the skyline looks 50 times better to this city with similar population.
anthology May 21st, 2007, 08:48 AM 4.5 i can hardly see buildings.

Windex May 21st, 2007, 08:44 PM 2/10, Honolulu has a population in the 300,000s (399,000) to be exact and the skyline looks 50 times better to this city with similar population.
To be fair, Charleston's population is like 50 or 60 thousand with a metro in the 300 thousands, whereas Honolulu's city population is 399 000 and the metro is almost 1 million.
Anyway, the skyline isn't that impressing so I'm only giving it a 5/10, but damn if that isn't a pretty little city. It's neat how it seems to hug the river so much.
