Madison Indiana is located in the midwest of the United states.
The city is about 200 years old and much of its victorian architecture remains intact and in use. Almost all activity in Madison Indiana is in the central city.
It is located along the Ohio river and is known for its beautiful architecture. Note this picture was taken early in the morning.

Coming back from Louisville, we stumbled on this small city. Amazingly urban and amazingly intact, Madison boggles the mind. Preservation became important here in the early 60's which has left downtown and the surrounding residential areas almost completely untouched. Several movies have been shot in Madison and its downtown is thriving with numerous shops and resturants. The best part is, its athentic.

For those of you in the Cincy-Dayton area, I highly recommend a day trip. In fact, if you go, and arn't impressed, I'll pay for your gas. :wink:

What a great looking little city!! It is amazing to think how many other cities and towns we could have that would look like this, had commerce and wealth not dispersed to the 'burbs.

I like the city...very impressive...nice colours..quite vibrant.

One question though.

Why do you build stop lights so cheaply?!?! They are literally more cheaper than what temporary construction signals look like here in Ontario.

I think that alot of midwestern cities could be like this(in terms of victorian architecture) but few have taken the time to restore their city centers.
These small villages make up our rich culture, and most of the time influence the regional cultures more than major metros. Alot of smaller villages have remained intact due to lack of economic activity. I drive through small towns all the time that are packed with victorian houses and commercial buildings just begging to be restored.
