All politics aside, i understand that we are in a fiscal crisis and additional taxes are not necessarily the wrong solution.

However, I work for a software development firm in Baltimore, and this may push us to eventually move out of state. On a million dollar contract, that's an additional $60,000 that we have to charge the client. Say goodbye to IT, game development and tech firms located in MD if this passes - (which fyi have been driving a substantial amount of local development and economic growth in recent years). We don't even make anything worthwhile in the US anymore except for intellectual property/technology/bio-tech so this to me is a very shortsighted stop-gap measure that will haunt Maryland down the road for years to come.

A comment from the comments section: I'm leading a small software company currently based in Silicon Valley. We've recently been looking to open an office in the Mid-Atlantic area to be closer to our East Coast customers. We'd been considering the Baltimore area, but with this development I can tell you we'll cross Maryland off the list.

Yeah, this is a terrible idea. At least it has a sunset provision.
