Even though I live somewhere I wish I didn't, my hood is not that bad at all. Lately some pretty good stuff has come around and it got me wondering what's nice about your neighborhood and what you guys love about them.

My "hood" is okay. Its nice how me and my neighbors talk about cars and whats going on and stuff. Its calm and not a lot of noise. Its on top of a mountain which I like.

I don't like it because almost everyone including my brother felt the need to have a gated house in a gated community. I also don't like it because some people say how unsafe it is even though its gated.

I like it over all though.

Riverside is the only true city in the IE. I like how there is a strong sense of history and civic pride here. There are strong art and gay communities as well as many colleges. I don't like how there isn't much to do downtown (or anywhere really). But whatever I guess. For what it is, Riverside is ok.

^^^True that about Riverside. Riverside is the only city that I would truly consider an actual city in the I.E.

With that said, let me talk about San Bernardino. The only good thing about this place is if you're trying to "get away". Because there isn't really too much going on in this city outside of the Route 66 parades they have every year.

And on that note, lemme talk about my old hood back in Long Beach. Someone somewhere used this phrase to describe L.B.: "L.A. style with O.C. convenience". That basically sums up the entire city. Growing up I used go to the Queen Mary and the Old (Not that food court by the sea Pike, but the actual boardwalk Pike) Pke and that helped L.B.'s image too. The downtown has changed A LOT. For the better too, although they can improve on a few things. I just hope whoever owns the land surrounding the Queen Mary doesn't make another damn food court complex, because L.A. county is full of those. But I love my birthplace. LBC!

Well let's see here...

What I truly enjoy about my hood is that amount of activities to choose from. The diversity and great shopping the area has to offer. It's a very people friendly atmosphere that allows safe walking throughout the day. Did I mention we are the gateway to Los Angeles, but who likes to brag, right?

What I don't like is my corner newbie neighbors who are truly unfriendly and anti-social. Even when the community family association dropped off a basket with goodies and a bottle of great wine as a welcome to the hood....

They've yet to knock on my door and introduce themselves.... Dorks!

Its close to great parks and squares.. the river is only a short walk away. I have great restaurants directly at the corners of my block. Nyu is nearby so naturally there is a great bar scene. The village Underground, Groove Spot, Fat Black Pussy Cat, and Blue Note are all a quick walk. I can take the 1 and 2 train anywhere I need to go and theyre stops are also a short distance away. Got dogs and there are a bunch of little dog parks around. Funky shops are everywhere, retail is everywhere, and our neighbors are friendly for the most part and always in the mood to host parties so the street is pretty tight.

Dislikes: It gets very noisey, sometimes being so close to the river is not such a good thing. Especially in the late summer when it gets this odd stink.

What I like most about my hood is the potential it has and that to a minor degree has fallen into the trend of building huge houses that don't integrate to the rest of the neighborhood.
