Parque Manuel Braga! (aka Parque da Cidade) Oficialmente existe distinção entre o Parque Manuel Braga e Parque Verde do Mondego, principalmente talvez por uma razão histórica.. para mim são o mesmo parque :D

Localizado junto à principal entrada da cidade, este é um parque ao estilo dos parques do séc. XIX, com vários jardins floridos e bem cuidados.

O muro que delimita a margem do Mondego serve de paragem a casais enamorados, com bancos decorados com azulejos em tons de azul, de onde se tem uma vista bonita sobre Santa Clara e o rio..

Um pouco de história mais a sério:

Representando um contributo importante na qualidade do ambiente urbano, o Parque Dr. Manuel Braga, vulgarmente designado por Parque da Cidade, foi projectado em 1920, cabendo ao floricultor e paisagista portuense Jacinto de Matos a execução da obra.
A partir dessa data, tem marcado presença em qualquer postal panorâmico da cidade e presenteia quem o atravessa com uma agradável sombra em dias quentes de Verão ou com o fascinante mesclado das folhas caídas durante o Outono.
Ligado às tradições da Academia, por ter sido, no passado recente, o local da realização das “Noites do Parque”, constitui, desde há muitos anos, um dos locais preferidos para o recreio e lazer dos conimbricenses. Recentemente a Câmara Municipal reforçou esse hábito ao promover espectáculos no bonito coreto do parque.

Este jardim, implantado à beira do rio Mondego, permite uma leitura perfeita da orla ribeirinha e da albufeira: na outra margem, para Este, a Ponte Rainha Santa Isabel e aquela que é a curva mais bonita do rio, com os salgueirais que a ladeiam e, quase em frente a Lapa dos Esteios, para Oeste, a encosta de Santa Clara, onde ainda restam alguns núcleos de carvalhal, em frente, a Praça da Canção, do lado direito, a Mata Nacional do Choupal.

Terminada a visita ao Parque, ainda é possível “dar um salto” ao Parque Verde do Mondego e visitar uma exposição que esteja a decorrer no Pavilhão Centro de Portugal, ou então dar um passeio pelo rio, n´ “O Basófias”, barco-restaurante utilizado para os percursos turísticos no rio.

Eu era de inicio para colocar as fotos no thread de coimbra mas acabei por fazer este.. como falo dos jardins arranjadinhos e não mostrei qq foto eis aqui (http://www.pbase.com/diasdosreis/coimbra_parques) algumas bem bonitas

Se tivesses feito esta reportagem há duas semanas atrás, teria ficado ainda melhor, com as árvores ainda carregadas de folhas e as cores ainda mais intensas. Assim, ficou só excelente! Parabéns! :okay:

É um dos meus locais favoritos em Coimbra. Não há nada como um passeio romântico pelo parque, seguido de um jantar no Itália e um copo nos bares das Docas... :)

Mas relativamente a este "bolo rei" em particular, parece que finalmente vamos ter desenvolvimentos. Hoje passei pelo empreendimento e reparei que os últimos andares, os tais que levaram a que a obra fosse embargada, estão finalmente a ser demolidos.

Espero que seja um sinal de que a obra vai avançar em breve. :)

O problema dos andares é que no projecto tem x andares e os gajos fizeram mais um. E há corrupção lá pelo meio em que o presidente da AAC/OAF está envolvido. :(

O pior é que não respeita a sinalização rodoviária:
Quanto a automotora, na zona onde e a "estação" da automotora, ao pe do parque de estacionamento do parque verde e das docas, os carris atravessam a estrada de um lado ao outro e por vezes, nao sei se todos os dias, se so de vez em quando, a automotora vai por esses carris na direcção da estação nova atravessando a estrada. Sem qualquer tipo de sinalização, luzes, semáforos vermelhos (e ha 2 semáforos ao pe dessa zona que bem que podiam ficar vermelhos quando a automotora vai a atravessar a rua).
Pois eu, ja ha bastante tempo, vinha as 5, 6 da manha pra casa no meu carrinho descansada, qd de repente dou de frente com a automotora que nem a porcaria da luz que tem na frente trazia ligada.
E uma que ha de cor verde escura. Com essa cor, no escuro da noite, nao a vi, tive de travar a fundo e por pouco nao me espetei naquela porcaria :( apanhei um susto valente!
Por acaso também já apanhei a automotora a atravessar a cidade, ia todo descansadinho a passar a ponte de santa clara e estavam verdes os semáforos, de repente apercebo-me que está algo no meio da estrada que não devia estar :lol: Não apanhei grande susto porque eu por norma ando sempre devagar (NOT), e naquele dia até ia :lol:

Não falo disso, mas os edifícios ao lado já têm uns anos, especialmente um deles, e além disso ficam no fundo da R. Brasil. Os outros são mesmo na avenida. Uns 3, 4 andares tudo bem, ou tipo da altura dos prédios na Boavista, agora uns 7 ou 8 como eles queriam fazer...

E' mesmo bonito belas fotos Dani, nao me importava de estar ai agora!
Mas melhor do que isso sera daqui a uns anos o parque urbano de Miraflores. As especies de arvores foram bem escolhidas e ja estao com umas cores belissimas apesar de pequenas. Imagino daqui a uma decada quando estiverem frondosas e cores fabulosas no Outono!

Lino, não me parece que vão existir bares naquela zona. Talvez um pequeno bar de apoio às piscinas, nada mais. Afinal, as docas são logo do outro lado da ponte. :)

Gostei de ver as fotos da nova margem do parque, quando aí estive pela última vez ainda estava barrento. Ficou espantoso, estou ansioso por ir aí passear! Agora resta esperar que as últimas fases do parque até à Ponte Rainha Santa Isabel sejam mesmo para concretizar, nem que seja só com uns simples relvados!

este agora está na moda.. é muito bom, fui lá há umas semanas e tentei repetir a dose mas agora é preciso marcação prévia..

Fui lá há uns tempos... a nível de variedade não é grande coisa, especialmente a cozinha portuguesa... quanto a comida italiana há muita... massas, pizzas... mas é um bom espaço, bom atendimento...

Well what kind of description do you want?...like me describing what I see in the park?

The timeline of the project, I really don't know, what I can tell you is that

There were 2 pre existing areas, Praça da Canção (Song Square) and Parque D.Manuel Braga (that some of the inhabitants call City Park), Parque D.Manuel Braga its much older (1923), than Praça da Canção, that I don't know the when it was built, but it would be around late 90's

2001 - Starts the urbanistic project Polis Coimbra, wich was ment to integrate the river banks with the city, and up the river to this two areas there were a lot of abandoned agricultural fields and terrains that were ment to be developped either..

In Parque D.Manuel Braga, it was build a water dedicated museum in an ancient city water pumping building, and a small store where you can buy bus tickets...Praça da Canção, gained a small creek that helped to drain the terrain and avoid floods, and a catwalk, both of them to physically separate the show's venue from the rest of the area, and some logistic's buildings

In June 2004 opened the first area, the Parque Verde (green park) or like it's more known amoung the people in Coimbra As docas (the Docks), which is a group of bars and restaurants with entrance to a terrace above the river (the floor remembering a wood pier), a grass area with some trees, a small boat pier, a kids park with some slides and stuff like that, and a car park, up the river you find Pavilhão Centro de Portugal, Portugal Center Region Pavillion, former Portuguese Pavillion of the 2000 world expo in Hannover, from the Architect Alvaro Siza Vieira...

In 2007 opened a pedestrian bridge conecting the right and left river banks between Parque Verde area, and the limit of Praça da Canção, called Ponte Pedonal Pedro e Inês, the bridge's name refers to a tragic love story that occured in Portugal in the 14th century, in a near area called "quinta das Lágrimas" which is known an historic hotel, resuming, D.Pedro was the son of the Portuguese King Afonso V, and was married with a Constança, queen from Castille and Leon kingdom...yet he was in loved by one her maids Inês de Castro, D.Pedro and D.Inês had a romance that was considered dangerous by the king, and she was exiled, after the death of Constança during her child's birth, (D.Fernando I), D.Pedro took her from the exile, and started living with her, in a relationship that the king and the rest of the court didn't approve, after some years in the north the couple start living in Portugal in the Paço de Santa Clara, which includes the actual Mosteiro de Santa Clara (Saint Claire of Assis monastery) and went all the way to the current Quinta das Lágrimas grounds, after some years the King called for the assasination in 7 Janury of 1355 of D.Inês de Castro due to rumors of a secret marriage, she was stabbed to the death near a fountain that nowadays its known for the name of "fonte dos amores" (meaning Lovers fountain), in 1357, D.Pedro became the Portuguese King, and in 1360 he declared that he was already married with D.Inês de Castro, secretly since 1354, so they were legimite heirs to the throne, he also started a vendetta, chasing the murders, two were killed in front of him, by stripping their hearts out one of the chest and the other of his back, one of them survive (they were three), by running to France, and was forgiven when he was dying, there is also a myth that its not known if really happened because the most ancient mention to it was in the XVI century, that after D.Pedro was crowned king, he called every Portuguese noble, took D.Inês corpse, and
was crowned king and her queen consort, forced every noble to kiss Inês right hand, obligating every noble to pay homage to her, even those who wanted her killed...because of this he was known has the Cruel or/and the righteous, the people loved him, yet the nobles never forgot that incident...to comemorate this tragic love story, that happened in Coimbra, they called this Bridge Pedro e Ines....it gained several international mentions...

In late 2007, early 2008, opened a new area of the green park, in the left river bank, dedicated to water sports, with two clubs, Clube Fluvial de Coimbra, dedicated to canoying, and the Water sports section of AAC, with canoying, rowing, and sailing..more recently opened a new area called exploratorio Infante D.Henrique (or Exploratorio Ciencia Viva), and its related to the chain of interactive museums dedicated to teach some physics, chemistry, biology, etc, in a more informal way, that started with San Francisco Exploratorium(1969)

More recently a small public swimming pool, with a bar and restaurant was built, there are some projects to expand the exploratio, and there are also some plans to expand further up river the green park, I believe that in the left river bank they plan to expand the park until reach the Ponte Rainha Santa Isabel (Saint Elizabeth of Aragon, Queen consort of Portugal Bridge), there are some other projects to the right side althought I don't known the amount of area that they will need....
