When I moved to Frankfurt I used to live in that tower for about 2 weeks in the appartment of a friend.
( in Frankfurt every new tower has to provide a certain grade of residential area)

Located along the famous Mainzer Landstrasse in Frankfurt, the site faces south to a commercial/retail sector and north to an adjacent residential community. Our building strives to acknowledge and represent this duality.

The urban juxtaposition of this site inspired a new composition for the tall building; a composition of three parts. Of these, the two external parts respond to the commercial-residential dialogue. These parts are intended to oppose each other. The third part represents the internal core biology of the building; like a skewer, it joins together the other two.

The tension inherent in this opposition is heightened by rendering one part in stone and the other in glass. The rectangular stone volume faces the residential neighbourhood and rises to a height of 150 meters (492 feet). This was the limiting height for tall buildings until 1989 and is clearly marked as an urban datum on Frankfurt’s skyline. The second volume is curved and rendered in glass. It addresses the commercial context and the Main River and gestures to the center of the old city of Frankfurt. It is terminated by a projecting cornice-fan which is intended to magnify the spatial quality of this gesture and also to convey a sense of “roof” to the plaza below.

This building is the first of three tall structures KPF has designed which employ a three-part composition as a method of establishing urban connections for a tall building.

It looks very good from one angle (the one with the round side), but it's only OK on the other side. Overall = 8/10

I like the color, but the it looks dull from the back. The rim looks decent, but it might look better if it were to go around the whole building. That way, the building wouldn't look so plain from the back.

4/10...I don't like it. The shape is awful, parts of the building are attached all over the place, too different facades, and what's with that useless circular piece of steel at the top? The only thing I like about it is the shiny glass facade on the front of the circular portion.

One of my absolute favorite European highrises, along with the nearby Messturm.

As I am a big fan of multiple masses and facades used to break up the bulk of highrises, and make them seem smaller and more human in scale, I of course like this building. Only the shorter, square mass could use a little something to punch it up. Perhaps a different shade of stone cladding, or perhaps vertical banding of two different complimentary shades? This building is an absolute beauty IMO.

Looks great from the front with an extraordinary decorative fins on the top and fabulous glass-curv corner. On the other Hand, form the back it looks nothing special at all. Half Concrete Half typical glass wall, I guess thats why most of it's photograph are taken from the front angle.
Non the less, It's still one of the must see skyscrapers in Frankfurt!

Mamma mia....amazing....it is a little bit similar like Ramat Gan city tower (I don't remember this building and city name, but it is the talllest of Israel) for height ilusion...but it is more rxpresive...& the CROWN is cool decision...this building is worth from me 10/10 and crown is belonging for real Queen :)

Why didn't they just use one facade texture and stop building above the semi-circular crown. Poor combination of shapes and forms in my opinion.
