masterpaul November 29th, 2007, 04:45 PM The design will probably look like the "basket" stadium above, it will be improved.
www.sercan.de November 29th, 2007, 04:51 PM I think capacity is quite good.
But i am not sure, does a club will use it?
masterpaul November 29th, 2007, 04:56 PM no club will use it, Legja and Polonia are building there own stadiums.
www.sercan.de November 29th, 2007, 05:00 PM hope it will be still profitable.
Maybe Cup Final and National team maches will not be enough.
Concerts? But that i would prefer a stadium with a retraceable roof
masterpaul November 29th, 2007, 05:03 PM They will be organizing concerts.
About the retractable roof, well it was planned but im not sure if it still is.
El Vampiro Ucraniano November 29th, 2007, 05:14 PM Nice, guys do you have any renders of the interior?
krzysiu_ November 29th, 2007, 05:20 PM Is't just a concept tho. Now JSK have 6 moths to make construction design. Costruction start at the beginning of 2009. First match will probably played in autumn 2011.
sirCoolek November 29th, 2007, 05:28 PM Looks quite impressive.
Tygrys November 29th, 2007, 05:37 PM Not bad one.

WMS November 29th, 2007, 05:46 PM ?
I don't think that Bydgoszcz deserves such stadium.
and Warsaw also doesn't?
Van der Rohe November 29th, 2007, 05:49 PM no club will use it, Legja and Polonia are building there own stadiums.
both Legia and Polonia will use it for biggest matches.
sirCoolek November 29th, 2007, 05:57 PM del
Van der Rohe November 29th, 2007, 06:04 PM Maybe a bit. Being a capitol of Poland shouldn't automatically mean that Warsaw deserves getting everything. There were lots of problems with the stadium, there was a natoinal discussion where to locate it - inside the old stadium or near it. Irritaiting.
That's just my point of view. Don't try to persuade me that I'm wrong because you won't manage to do so :)
please guys move this discussion to the polish forum, I don't think anyone outside Poland cares about how much you like/dislike your capital.

lpioe November 29th, 2007, 09:34 PM I quite like it, reminds me of the new Camp Nou.
Will a Euro 2012 SF be played here? And where will be the other?
[BÉTON!BRUT!] November 29th, 2007, 09:40 PM well, one of the S-Fs but more importantly, the starting game. Dunno where the other is planned.

Poland picks designer for Euro 2012 stadium
The Associated Press
Published: November 29, 2007
WARSAW, Poland: Poland has chosen a German-Polish consortium to design its new national stadium, which will host the opening match of the 2012 European Championship.
Sports Minister Miroslaw Drzewiecki said Thursday that JSK Architects will design the new arena in Warsaw because of its experience in "more than 20 stadium projects" worldwide.
The stadium is to seat 55,000, and is scheduled to open in 2011.
Poland is co-hosting Euro 2012 with neighboring Ukraine and both countries face the challenge of building stadiums and upgrading dilapidated infrastructure.
Drzewiecki said he expected the stadium design to be ready in six months, and the ministry estimates the cost of the entire project to be 1 billion zlotys (US$408 million; €273 million).
A contractor still has to be selected to build the stadium, which will be located on the eastern bank of the Vistula River in the Polish capital.
The Euro 2012 final will be held at Kiev's redeveloped Olympic Stadium.

Jim856796 November 30th, 2007, 04:12 AM I think the new Warsaw National Stadium will suck ass. The original capacity was to be 70,000, but now it will be 55,000. Seeing that the National Stadium will not have an athletics track, I may build another new stadium containing 70,000 seats and an athletics track for Warsaw.
BobDaBuilder November 30th, 2007, 05:41 AM What are the attendances to it's league matches? There is probably no point in building a 70k seater.
It is better economics to build smaller venues in this day and age.
michał_ November 30th, 2007, 06:00 PM What are the attendances to it's league matches? There is probably no point in building a 70k seater.
It is better economics to build smaller venues in this day and age.
The stadium will have no tenant on regular basis, at least no football club.
That's one more reason for not building a 70k stadium, unless Poland is looking forward to hosting the Olympics. But still, 55k may be expandable to 60 and that's enough. So- no reason really.
According to the designers (whish is JSK + GMP + SBP), the stadium will have a retractable roof, construction just like their previous design- Waldstadion, Frankfurt.
Mo Rush November 30th, 2007, 10:12 PM cool..very typical GMP design but with some creativity too

Cracovia January 20th, 2008, 12:52 PM The capacity is not final yet, till they show the construction design
im still secretly hoping for 60 000 at least
masterpaul January 29th, 2008, 02:25 PM The conceptual project of the football national stadium (in Warsaw)is already ready
anounced the vice-chairman of the firm has informed TARPAPERS (MUZZLES) - architect co. ltd. mariush JSK Rutz. Project will be transferred to the national organization of sports.
We had to prepare a conceptual project according to agreement for 31 january and we have kept this deadline . Everything it is already ready. We will transfer the venue project this thursday to the national center of sport".
"we will show modal of thye stadium in scale 1:500.simultaneously , This is a good representation of how the stadum will look like when it is complete. There was a 40 + group of architects who worked for this, one and a half months". He added :
"A race track was not taken in consideration. They have ordered a a project for a football only venue and we have succesfully completed there order. It is too late now, to consider an athletic race track,".
"HOWEVER IF the city decides to use this venue for Athletics, they would have to modernize and adapt the stadium for athletics needs " says Skry.
In Rutz oppinion: "The project of national stadium is jaw dropping , spectacular , and amazing . I think. We are very pleased with it. We have put tons of work in to it and we are satisfied from the final results."
When conceptual project will be approved, we will proceed to more detailed work. We will move in even more architects/workers from Berlin and other places. The architects/workers will be temporarly located in Warsaw and they will deal with technical details and will make proper building project/plan. This group is already expanding over 100 architects.
The National football stadium will be built in warsaw in an existing "crater" stadium. It will accommodate 55 000 spectators (doesnt say if counting the vips or not).
Work on the building site will be started in this september of this year. First they will harden the building site. In march 2009, construction will begin. The venue will be completed by fall 2011.
On this stadium the opening match of Euro 2012 will be played.
The German company JSK has many projects such as in berlin, in china and republic of south africa.
It has also designed the soccer stadium of Legia in warsaw and it also design the Soccer Sadium, In wroclaw Poland.
The Summery:
:: The final design of the stadium is complete
:: The stadium will make u go wow!
:: The stadium is a pure Soccer Stadium.

Thats what the architects say at the JSK website..but I guess that option costs too much now.
masterpaul January 29th, 2008, 07:33 PM UPDATE: The final design will be reavealed this Friday
exclusiv January 30th, 2008, 02:18 AM it's good that all the process is going well! Plus, they will make a competition for the National Stadium surroundings in the next days, they plan to include some exposition areas, a conference center, some commercial buildings such as a hotel(120m height plan), a shopping center, sport arenas etc. If the chosen project is good it is going to be awesome!

www.sercan.de February 1st, 2008, 07:35 PM Oh, i thought the 2nd tier is lil bit curved.
Sorry, than it doesn't look like new GS stadium
The onyl think i do not like is that the stands aren't parallel to the pitch
TwItCH February 1st, 2008, 08:22 PM So which facade will it be?
this one:

or this one:
http://bi.gazeta.pl/im/2/4891/z4891512X.jpg
I like the first one much better; it gives the stadium a lighter look and makes it look less like a basket.
masterpaul February 1st, 2008, 08:24 PM In MY OPPINION, Its the secound one, the first one is a mock-model, which facade might had not printed out too well.
and...
The architect did say before he unvieled the stadium. That the facade will ressemble, the polish flag which is wavy and bla bla bla.
TwItCH February 1st, 2008, 08:38 PM oh well, it still looks great.
cichy87 February 2nd, 2008, 01:24 AM I think the first facade is much better, but we really don't know which one is finally approved

michał_ February 2nd, 2008, 01:40 AM Very London Olympic Stadium 2012 to me.
in what way?
The roof construction is completely different, the facade is different, the stands are completely different...
could you please say a bit more?
Dallasbrink February 2nd, 2008, 03:25 AM aside from the curves along the top and the fact its smaller and has some pointless suspended needle thinga ma bober and the external art...looks about the same to me.
michał_ February 2nd, 2008, 03:48 AM aside from the curves along the top and the fact its smaller and has some pointless suspended needle thinga ma bober and the external art...looks about the same to me.
Yeah, all the same. Seems only size matters for you after all. Hopefully you'll notice some more difference when London Stadium will be remodeled after the Olympics.
London roof construction is totally different;
bowl shape and stand division completely different;
facade different (ours is supposed to imitate a traditional Polish wattle basket lit in National colors, while in London there will be one piece of fabric- biggest in the World, just wrapped around for the Olympics)
That's why I asked if you could say something more about it.
Anyway- that "suspended pointless needle" happens to be the place, where the fabric that covers the pitch is kept. It will open similarly to an umbrella and spread over the pitch making the stadium a domed one, just like in Frankfurt...
maybe try and find some information first?
witu102 February 2nd, 2008, 01:15 PM the only problem is wheather it;s gonna be ever completed and even if after fev years it will change into its ancestor the old X-lecia stadium because ther is no chance of making it profitable...

The city of Warsaw announced a huge international competition for an urban and architectual design for the 40 hectare area around the Stadium,They put a height limit of 160m in the area so we may see some new skyscrapers around the area.
The Project has to have:
A conference and exposition centre, with a main conference hall for 8000
A sports Arena for 20 000
A 5 star hotel
A minimum of 40 000msq of Office space
An entertainment center
A new metro and regional train station
An olympic quality swimming pool with 4000 seats*
lots of pedestrain friendly areas
Right next to that is another 36 hecters in the form of the former Warsaw Docks which will also see redevelopement. So a completly new part of Warsaw is going to Spring up around the Stadium

but the design is ready and from what I know after an interwview with one of the architects of JSK- this stadium is impossible to expand over the 55k without seriously changing the whole construction. I'm not saying you're wrong, it's just very strange to have a vote like this after already paying for a concept of a 55k stadium.

thats was a budget does to a stadium. design changes and value engineering are all a part of the process, to find a balance between aesthetics, design, functionality and cost.

After all, it was the same side of the iron curtain :) Most stadiums on this side looked like that to be honest. But this one afterwards won't look that much like Leipzig- Zentralstadion was built "inside", Warsaw will be built "on top of".

GEwinnen July 22nd, 2008, 08:39 PM German football federation denies contact with UEFA over Euro 2012
The German Football Federation (DFB) on Tuesday denied British media reports that the ruling body UEFA has been in contact over Germany possibly replacing Ukraine as a Poland`s co-host for Euro 2012, according to dpa.
"There has been absolutely no contact with UEFA in relation to this question and also no official query. UEFA`s executive committee will discuss Euro 2012 at the end of September in Bordeaux," DFB general secretary Wolfgang Niersbach said.
The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported Monday that Germany was being lined up to replace Ukraine as co-host for Euro 2012 amid fears inside football`s ruling body that the East European country would not be ready to stage the event.
UEFA`s main concerns centre around the political situation in Ukraine, delays to stadium construction and worries over transport infrastructure, the paper said.
Under the contingency plan reported by the Telegraph, Poland would host most of the games along with the eastern German cities of Berlin and Leipzig.

masterpaul July 24th, 2008, 03:26 PM No they just host them all in Poland, we will have enough stadiums. Gornik zabrze will build a 32 000 seater and it is right next to chorzow (a reserve venue), they could the same hotels and airport.
Legja's stadium (35 000) wold be a second venue in warsaw.
And then the reserve venues wold be hosts venues.
Thats 8 stadiums, thats how much u need to host euro.
Also we might have lodz/szczeczin and other citys building a 30 000 + stadium.
PiotrG July 24th, 2008, 05:35 PM If Ukraine does end up pulling out hope they host matches in Dresden as well as Leipzig and Berlin.
:wallbash:
These are nonsenses thought up by journalists, there is never no option of organising the Euro with Germans - the German Football Federation alone denied that he was feeling like organising this Euro with Poland.
Euro 2012 will take place on Poland and Ukraine, it stayed a bit longer 4 years but Ukraine should make it with the structure of objects.
Jim856796 July 25th, 2008, 08:41 PM If this stadium is supposed to have a sports arena and a Olympic swimming Pool nearby, a complex like that would have required the main stadium to have an athletics track. I have never heard of a rectangular football stadium that has an indoor arena and an aquatics center closer to it.

Urbanista1 October 7th, 2008, 09:14 PM I like this stadium more and more. It's like a fine work of basketweaving - very appropriate culturally.

"WARSAW - Stadion Narodowy (55,000) - EURO 2012" url is bad, it is leading to the topic about " GDANSK - Arena Bałtycka (44,000)". I ask for the betterment. ;)

wloclawianin October 8th, 2008, 06:02 PM fantastic design and visible progress. Demolition of the grandstand is going very nicely. Now just wait for the first foundations and cranes. I can not wait that real construction. So somewhere in mid-2009
krzysiu_ October 8th, 2008, 08:23 PM This is the real construction tho, it's just first part of the construction, jeeeez...

But now this market, it's nothing special. Only asians and blacks with panties, socks and other chinese clothes.
The old market in stadium was the best. You can bought russian military equipment (AK-47, ammunitions :D ), games and movies before official release (often with russian homemade dubbing; all was only for 5 €), and other extra stuff :D

krzysiu_ December 13th, 2008, 10:55 PM Pol-Aqua is doing great job, they suppose to finish 1 phase of the construction in april (1 month before deadline), and right after that without losing time, also in april, 2nd phase of the construction is gonna begin. Tender for the constructor of the 2nd phase is in the progress atm. We suppose to know the winner in january/february.
masterpaul December 14th, 2008, 12:44 AM thats weird. the additional space is there for the rugby field which is larger. they dont play rugby in poland? do they?
The stadium can be used to play rugby.... This was possible, just by luck and geometry.
the national stadium can be used by the rugby team, but i dont expect it to ever exceed 5 000.
The rugby federation in poland even got informed about this by the architects.
PiotrG December 18th, 2008, 11:32 PM final cap: 55920
Many new, accurate visualisations will turn up after opening offers at the tender, that is in March 2009
The stadium will be able to have games of rugby staying.
At construction of the stadium a BubbleDeck method will be used.

PiotrG January 20th, 2009, 05:32 PM Unfortunately there are also only grey seats in the NCS registered office, probably to red we will wait all the way to the time of their assembly at the stadium. Only red seats were shown for VIP. There is an exhibition of elements who will be installed at the stadium in the NCS registered office (railing, seats, wood, granite, part of the elevation). New visualisations will be made available in the immediate future, probably as soon as protests are investigated in the tender for the general contractor as well as consortiums submit an offer (February-March) ;)

 what is euro ? why not give the price in australian dollar or korean won
it's international forum so we use here D O L L A R S not some regional currencies ( however if you use € in european section everything's fine).
the stadiums will cost 381.7 millions $
Cracovia April 11th, 2009, 09:51 PM That is the net price, full price is 1,528 mld PLN ~ 351 mln EUR ~ 464 mln US$
I was expecting much less of a price with the crisis and so on. More close to 250mln Eur or 1mld PLN not 1.5

the stadiums will cost 381.7 millions $ There is no international currency. The USD is the most widely used reserve and trading currency in the world, however its not a standard. The EUR is the major currency of the European continent (where this stadium will be built), so I see no problem in reffering to it.

As for the price - the value added tax is coming back to country, so a net price is a cost it is necessary to give which for building the stadium.

// sorry, corrected
Dzwonsson April 15th, 2009, 09:56 PM ^^ What do you mean by "in 10 days"? After or until this period of time? ;)

the other companies in the tender have 10 days to protest the outcome, if after this period there are no protests then the contract must be signed with the winner.
