View Full Version : FJORDCITY | Deloitte Bygget | 67m | 16fl | U/C
Þróndeimr December 1st, 2007, 01:30 PM Deloitte Bygget
Deloitte Bygget is a part of the OperaKvarteret (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=774674) highrise clauster
Deloitte Bygget, or Isfjellet is inspired from a breaking glacier according to the architects. Isfjellet is the third building from the west been built
in OperaKvarteret, a line of 11 high-rise buildings facing the fjord and the new Oslo Opera House.
The two lowest storeys of the building will have shops and refreshment areas. From the 2nd floor to the 11th floor there will be offices. The 12th
floor to the 15th floor will hold a canteen and conference rooms with adjacent green roof terraces.
The building's design has developed from the point of intersection of the building's internal room design, the external limitation and the desire to
create a building that is sculptural in form. The building complies with the barcode principles, but in addition it introduces an intersection of surfaces
on the horizontal and vertical planes. The creation of interplay with the Station Common's landscape has been of great importance.
The sight corridor in the planning regulation limits the height of the buildings in a field that cuts across the roof toward Ekebergåsen. From the
Station Common across connection will be maintained which will also convey the difference in height between the Station Common and the
neighbouring building's street level.

kjetilab December 1st, 2007, 08:21 PM This looks really wierd... It totally breaks the Barcode principles.
Do you got some sources about the project?
Þróndeimr December 1st, 2007, 08:27 PM ^ Here is the article: http://www.aftenposten.no/nyheter/oslo/article2129650.ece
I sure hope they approve it, think its going to look great togather with Visma, and with the Opera in front (hopefully it will stay white!). If it gets rejected i hope they build it in Stavanger close to Føniks and Forus Hotel!
ch1le December 2nd, 2007, 12:45 AM its awesome, and once again I need to stress the innovative facade used - seems like the new type of concrete, which can be folded into whatever shape at whatever thickness, awesome stuff!
kjetilab December 3rd, 2007, 06:02 PM In today’s Aftenposten Aften all of the people asked (except for the Byens Fornyelse (a major NIMBY movement) representative) were positive to the proposal. But as we know, both Høyre and Venstre are very sensitive to complaints from NIMBY's…
Dompcz December 3rd, 2007, 06:40 PM This one is really very impressive. Maybe there are more renderings?
Þróndeimr December 3rd, 2007, 06:52 PM Maybe there are more renderings?
As soon as there is some out, this is the place you'll find them! ;)
IceCheese December 3rd, 2007, 08:03 PM its awesome, and once again I need to stress the innovative facade used - seems like the new type of concrete, which can be folded into whatever shape at whatever thickness, awesome stuff!
As far as the article states, no materials have yet been decided. Sorry.
ch1le December 4th, 2007, 02:25 AM As far as the article states, no materials have yet been decided. Sorry.
i know how the architects think, trust me, its this new concrete thing(Ductal i think).
lawson18 December 5th, 2007, 09:16 AM very unique design like most recent Norwegian desgins
muster August 19th, 2008, 09:13 PM Sorry, no news. But shouldnt we expect some news in the nearest future? This ought to be the next, right?
kjetilab August 19th, 2008, 09:36 PM Think OSU will try to find tenant to the already approved and designed (former) Visma-building before we'll see any news about Isfjellet.
IceCheese August 19th, 2008, 10:08 PM Since the regulation plan for the whole area is approved, it's not that much holding either buildings from digging in. The "rammeplan" (or what it's called) is not that big deal.
Eitherway it seems a bit weird that none of them will be ready with the coming pedestrian bridge. It will be a bridge into a wasteland for many years. "Welcome, drug addicts"?:shifty:

Mulefisk August 19th, 2008, 11:05 PM Wow, that looks amazing! Better than the other buildings that have been proposed/are under construction so far.
Þróndeimr August 19th, 2008, 11:46 PM ^^ True, this is a by far the best Barcode building as of now! :)
I've even read about this proposal in a English architectural magazine a few months ago, they had big words for it!
Dan August 20th, 2008, 03:27 PM If they reject it, give the design to Stockholm instead! I love it!
Þróndeimr August 21st, 2008, 12:12 AM If they reject it, give the design to Stockholm instead! I love it!
Meh, the building need to be in a country known for glaciers, and for that reason ill rather give this proposal to Iceland or maybe Greenland if they reject it in Norway! :D
Boscorelli August 21st, 2008, 05:04 AM As I said in another thread this is absolutely stunning!
Ingenioren August 21st, 2008, 11:35 AM Their still working on all those complaints since all consequenses and alternatives was not properly invistigated... =P Have you forgotten about this? http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/distrikt/ostlandssendingen/1.5399868 Maybe DNB-nor will be the first to rise... This winter... ;P
Þróndeimr September 10th, 2008, 04:38 PM Snøhetta experimening with different facades and shapes, or is this a earlier version (hopefully it is)? But its typical Norwegian to simplify designs which is tmore advanced than usual.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/cityx/Architecture/Snoarcfacade1.jpg
IceCheese September 11th, 2008, 12:00 AM That facade you're refering to seems to be the current one. The story I got the rendering in post #13, is from March 13th (this year), and the facade is like your render all the way. The change of the facade is just a minor change they did a long time ago, I guess..
http://www.bjorvikautvikling.no/modules/module_123/proxy.asp?D=2&C=9&I=57
The article also shows a rendering of the Oslo Z building, which is the U/C building on the other end of the bridge. This was presented in Aftenposten today.
IceCheese September 11th, 2008, 12:04 AM its awesome, and once again I need to stress the innovative facade used - seems like the new type of concrete, which can be folded into whatever shape at whatever thickness, awesome stuff!
With our current level of knowledge, I can with certainty state that this is not the deal.
Boscorelli September 11th, 2008, 12:11 AM Snøhetta experimening with different facades and shapes, or is this a earlier version (hopefully it is)? But its typical Norwegian to simplify designs which is tmore advanced than usual.

This does not look as good as the other one at all! :ohno:
IceCheese September 11th, 2008, 12:23 AM There were probably opposition about the windows (or the lack of them).
It's seems as they've also straightend up the north-western corner. I'm not to happy about that, as this building is getting more and more similar to the other Barcodes...
Ingenioren September 11th, 2008, 08:46 AM They have removed the coolest part... Instead of a pointy iceberg we end up with a half-melted puddle... Still the nicest in barcode tough... To bad they get out hopes up with their unplausible drawings... This was Oslos best building by far:ohno:
Þróndeimr September 11th, 2008, 09:13 PM This was Oslos best building by far:ohno:
Yeah, i am sure though, Snøhetta themself would love to go for the first version. Again this shows that Norway will never manage to take the leading role in modern and futuristic architecture, since this was really the only real proposal which was that good.
And right, they have straightend up the walls, both the sides and the front (not just the north-western wall). The building is now simply a square building, with a crack in the middel. Seems like someone didn't like the first renderings, since they kinda broke with Barcode's original idea.
Ingenioren September 11th, 2008, 10:08 PM Where did you find the picture?
IceCheese September 12th, 2008, 01:00 AM So here is the renderings of the new design a bit larger. Feel free to use this in the first post...

Þróndeimr September 12th, 2008, 08:05 AM Where did you find the picture?
"Bjørvika Temakveld" commercial.
Too bad about the new shape, but the new facade is still really great. But the glacial "idea" is more or less gone.
Grauthue September 12th, 2008, 12:19 PM Beautiful, but I would prefer that they at least stick with the colour white
Þróndeimr September 12th, 2008, 02:59 PM Another rendering, Isfjellet in the upper left corner.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y162/cityz/Urban/BarcodeA1.jpg

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y162/cityz/Urban/IsfjelletNyA2small.jpg
Thats means Isfjellet is 67m tall (taller than KLP), or is C+ meaning kote (height above sea level)?
marshol September 15th, 2008, 03:57 PM http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y162/cityz/Urban/BarcodeA1.jpg
This is a geat render. Too bad we can't see the top of Isfjellet and KLP.

IceCheese December 8th, 2008, 04:28 PM According to Aftenposten Aften, the construction of this building has been postponed since they haven't signed in any tenants. OSU will continue building the rest of Barcode skipping this one. OSU claims that the problem isn't the financial crisis that they have potential tenants. They just haven't got through an offer they like, or something.. Visma will then be next bar to pop up, with construction start early 09.
Boscorelli December 8th, 2008, 04:45 PM ^^
That is bad! And I really hope it is just postponed.
mjoks007 December 8th, 2008, 05:42 PM Doh!
kjetilab December 8th, 2008, 08:23 PM No suprise there really. They have previously stated that they prefer to have at least one big tenant renting most of the space for each building before starting construction.
IceCheese December 8th, 2008, 09:53 PM ^^
That is bad! And I really hope it is just postponed.
It really is just postponed. The barcode-project is decided on and started, so there is no way there will be an empty "hole" in the area;)
Boscorelli December 8th, 2008, 10:11 PM so there is no way there will be an empty "hole" in the area;)
No I kinda figured that, but what I don't like when things such as this happens is the possibility that something less expensive might show up at that space, something really ugly and boring.
Probably won't be the case here, but it doesn't feel good when stuff like this happens!
But on the other hand if it takes quite a while, something better might show up instead, not likely but you never know.
Anyway it's a shame!
Ingenioren December 9th, 2008, 12:23 AM DnB-Nor will also be delayed a bit, since they found all those shipwrecks;D Atleast Visma will grow up soon, and we will just have to be patient regarding the rest of the bars..;D

http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv353/Ingenioren2/holmenkollentur/DSC_1652.jpg
marshol March 24th, 2009, 02:20 PM ^^ Is it under construction when piling is being done? It's part of the building's foundation?
Ingenioren March 24th, 2009, 02:23 PM Technicly you can say that, but they will build the basement, and then there will be a while before they build the tower... Depends on Osu renting it out...
kjetilab March 24th, 2009, 02:27 PM As the basement is shared between all the buildings in Operakvarteret they have to build it anyway, so that's no indication that we'll soon see Isfjellet rising.
Ingenioren March 24th, 2009, 02:29 PM It does however gives us a shorter construction time when they decide to build it! :)

Ingenioren June 8th, 2009, 12:55 AM Relax. It's been only a few days, not much has changed... Anyway, this is only the foundationwork going ahead, you will have to wait a little before they start on the building since they have not as far as we know rented out the space.

”Build it and they will come”. As a billboard at Dundas Square told me; screw the recession! ;)
Anyway, nice pictures. The bridge is coming up very fast.
marshol August 31st, 2009, 11:34 PM To halt it is just stupid. It takes years to build it anyway, till that time they have surely found some tenants.
Ingenioren August 31st, 2009, 11:53 PM Fair enough they build when they get tennants, but why couldn't they have followed a linear progression. I don't like this to be an empty spot (Aswell as Mads appartment tower) in the area after everything else is finished around it....
mcmlxv September 4th, 2009, 12:52 PM Hi everybody! My first post, been checking these forums for some weeks now, especially everything conserning the Oslo developments and wanna thank you for all the great pictures and constant updates, keep it up! :D
Now, I must say I hate the new renderings of this building. IMO it should be removed from the Barcode project and be placed somewhere else to fulfill its potensial. Don't get me wrong, I love Barcode, but the buildings must follow some strict guidelines to fit in with the original idea. Isfjellet, as a breaking glacier, is complete anarchy and therefore totally misplaced here. This project is strong enough to stand on its own feet, follow the first renderings with some adjustments, like making it taller for dramatic effect, and we will finally have a proper true highrise in this city.
mjoks007 September 4th, 2009, 03:35 PM Welcome!
Personally I think Isfjellet has a pretty cool and diffrent design than the other barcodebuildings and will that way make a good variation.
Ingenioren September 4th, 2009, 08:13 PM It's not really that radical no, just because of the tilting top, maybe - don't think that is any matter - it would fit well there with the original design... A little anarchy is btw. a good thing in city planning, overplanned cities are very boring...
mcmlxv September 4th, 2009, 10:22 PM You hear the Norwegian architects complain about the constant bickering from politicians and NIMBY's in general, delay of plans, and the forced adjustments they have to make. In this case, with this building, Snøhetta has no reason to do that. They knew certain demands had to be met to fit it in this project. I think they are in many ways spoiling a great idea just like Akersgata Atrium already is a standing proof of at Grønland. Another study of missed opportunities.
Is everything being built after the Opera given some sort of handicap to prevent them from grabbing attention? Is that the confidence they give something that has already gathered a lot of attention and prizes internationally? Cause it really should have no problem standing its own ground.
Spearman September 9th, 2009, 07:35 PM My opinion exactly http://forum.ferion.com/images/smilies/biggrinbounce.gif

starkwell November 19th, 2009, 11:52 PM thanks, it's just rather nice...
IceCheese November 20th, 2009, 02:49 AM um, i'm not sure, that's why i asked - it's easier to search for a thread on a specific building when you know what it's called...
but, the black one with the thin white stripes - oslo-z, i can't find a thread on it?
:dunno:
But KLP is the only black one there. Oslo Z is light grey, at best. The windows are only colored by their reflections;)
About Oslo Z, i think it's on the brink of completion. The 23.000 sqm building is also the north accending/descending of Stasjonsalmenningen, where the bridge is directly integrated with the building:)

marshol February 6th, 2010, 03:55 PM Yes, but it annoys me that they never start the construction.
SMCD February 6th, 2010, 05:59 PM ^^ Still no news on tenants? Quite weird as the design might be one of the most interesting of the barcode project.
IceCheese February 6th, 2010, 08:32 PM ^^ Still no news on tenants? Quite weird as the design might be one of the most interesting of the barcode project.
It's on the frontpage of Akershus Eiendom's newest magazine for business property. Seems as they're getting pretty desperate to get rid of it. Maybe they will split it into smaller tenants anyways?
Ingenioren February 6th, 2010, 08:36 PM If construction started, smaller tennants would fill this up before it was finished... ;P
marshol February 7th, 2010, 01:55 AM I think OSU is too fastidious in this case. They won't find one tennant to fill the whole building, not even two. I think it's good to have some small companies in tha area too, not only big ones like Pwc and Klp.

IceCheese February 24th, 2010, 12:12 AM The magazine on the same website says 2011/2012...
Ingenioren February 24th, 2010, 02:38 PM Well, that's nice - and more realistic. There's another unseen render there aswell - the westside of Snøhetta i don't get, i guess the blank spots fucking up the pattern are where the elevators will be located, but it doesn't look nice, granted the pavillion next to it will not cover it up, being only 1 or 2 floors... (Like in the previously posted renders.) :
http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv353/Ingenioren2/Snohettaside.jpg
OT:
Also interesting to see the project from Lysaker, together with Thon, this will finish up the largest holes there, i don't like the long horrible groundscrapers that stretches along E18, but rather densify in a more urban style around the station and river.

IceCheese February 25th, 2010, 05:55 PM The change in the design of the first floor (and elsewhere in the facade) is quite massive, isn't it?

It says it will be completed in 2012, and Deloitte move in in 2013. If they need a couple of years building it, they might start this fall?
Ingenioren April 14th, 2010, 08:19 PM Paul Lodøen states to Aften this evening that construction on Deloittebygget vil resume in the first half of 2011 due to a period of detailplanning. It will be completed by the end of 2012. Construction is already 1/3 done as you know. He also says that Barcodes shopping-area will be up and running by 2013.

Galro June 19th, 2011, 05:03 PM Who knows, maybe Snøhetta will use the original design on another project in the city/country. Personally I'm a bigger fan of the current design so for me it don't matter that much.
