Horisont
Trondheim - Norway

Horisont is a 15 story tall residential tower rising in the eastern side of Trondheim, better known as Valentinlyst. This area is already densly built with six, 12 story tall residential buildings, surrounded by large residential districts and a shopping mall.

Horisont is going to be built on the roof of the shopping mall (Valentinlyst Senter) in Valentinlyst, next to the six high-rises complex. The 47m tall tower started construction in February 2006, but heavy opposition halted the project in March 2006, when the Chief Administrative officer of Sør-Trønderlag declined the approval. After the developers had reproposed the building it was finally approved again on August 31st 2006, and construction of the tower was continued on September 1st. 2006. Completion schedule early 2008.

The danish architect Hans Petter Madsø and his architect firm Sivilarkitektene AS is behind the building which was first presented to the public in april 2002. The proposal was later presented and treated by the construction council. They wanted furter development in this project, with less apartments and better facilities in the out-door area around the shopping mall and the tower. In august 2003 construction council manipulated the proposal, but did not promote the proposal, but wanted more development. In september 2004 the proposal was yet another time treated by the construction council, and was approved. The project was finally approved by the city council in december 2004.

I like the yellow colour :)

Turned out to me a lot more orangeish than the rendering, and the glass facade a tad greenish if seen from below. The building is topped out and facades are almost done now. It will be all completed in february the latest.

It looks quite commie to me but that´s just maybe because of that visualisation. ;)

In real it looks less like a commie than the rendering, but quite dark (dark orange facade, with dark greenish glass windows). Ill post some U/C pics soon to show the final depressing result.

Hopefully won´t be that depressing and won´t affect the skyline of the city in a bad way. ;)

Its situated quite far from the city center, or any other important buildings, and the nabours is a big complex of 6 high-rise buildings on 12 floors (commieblocks from the 60s). So if doesn't affect the skyline in any negative way at least!

Big complex contains just 6 commies? Is that the only commie housing estate in Trondheim?

So here is the completed tower. The residents are moving in nowadays, a few weeks later than expected though. My pics will also show you how the tower adds up into the Valentinlyst skyline. Its not spectacular highrise at all, just a normal residential building, which we will remember as the commieblock of this century!

As seen from some other angles. It fits well into Valentinlyst highrise-complex.

It's all right, not a Signalbuilding, but anyway oki=) The other Valentinlyst are too simular in height and too aligned making them really commie! This really improves the area, but a few more floors one or two of the neighbour buildings would make the skyline less monoton=) Did you take these pics, trondheimr? They are really great!!;D Makes Trondheim look kind of Icelandic=)
