Before demanding higher salary start working more productive. It's common problems for latvians. You want western Europe salaries but at same time you don't want to work as hard as they. In provincial towns half of workforce are drunkards rest are just lazy.

Welcome to the forum, Mr Expert in productivity:D
You must be joking. Latvian rests to keep working while Westerner lives to rest.
I have been working in Denmark and United Kingdom and Latvia. I'll tell you one thing - its not the productivity for sure in the sense you are talking about. Its more about efficiency and number of enterprises per 1000 persons rather than amount of work person does:)
Also - in companies I've been working owners surely could afford to pay more, but why should they if minimum the wage was 200EUR per month.
Productivity also comes with the size of population - Latvia is deserted - and consumerism in the western sense is not that widespread.
The option is to export. To export you need knowledge, skills and motivation - this is what Latvians lack.
If you divide all Latvian products and services produced and divide them by the number of people living in Latvia you get a phrase "productivity needs to be improved".
Its not the productivity of a person (shit loads of guys work in two places and extreme hours).
To put simply - Latvian works f***ing hard, but does not produce anything valuable (innovations, high value products and services...).
You can blame lack of technology, skills, experience or ... Westerners trying to pull all of us out of Latvia as a workforce and destroy all manufacturing (aviation, sugar factories, farming are just few examples of unfair intervention) - they are actually paying billions of EUR to close everything down.
For EU the ideal scenario would be totally economically deserted Baltic states or at best very weak economic competitors.
 man

Z-Torņiem bija jāveic četru līmeņu pazemes konstrukciju izveide + betonēšana, neskatoties uz pāļu dzīšanu. Ja Z-Torņiem būtu uzbūve kā Da Vinci (bez pazemes korpusiem), tad viņi jau sen slietos 4-5 stāvu augstumā virs zemes. :)

silox May 26th, 2009, 05:56 PM As I understand the tower starts only on 4th floor, so I guess we'll have to wait a bit :P

Yes, 16.06.09
There is no progres since May 29th.....
From riverside construction site pretty much looks like in February ;)
Maybe from the side it looks like building process is kind of slow, but trust me, they are building very fast, works dont stop till 7-8 PM every day.
And here goes yesterday's photos from the riverside:

DrT June 26th, 2009, 03:58 AM Latvia's real estate prices have dropped approximately 50% in the last year. I would not be surprised if the banks stop construction funding. Let's hope not.
Keep us posted on progress guys.
Triceratops June 26th, 2009, 08:20 PM I must add that the progress is not visible even though they are working every day! but maybe it would be better of someone to take shots from other angles? :)

The Devil comes every night and destroys all what's built in previous day - a virgin must be immured in Da Vinci walls, only then tower will rise up.
janusheks55 July 14th, 2009, 01:28 PM They will wait again 3 years .... fuck, zTowers on hold, Da Vinci developers are fucking around, fucking crises, we wil never behold Kipsala rising high....shit.

Rivkin October 26th, 2009, 07:54 PM ^^ Maybe those "working" cranes are just a social task to prevent the loss of jobs in construction sector in latvia  This is my ironical joke, but more seriously: if they can lay only the foundation of building in 2 yrs time, then what are we talking about?
Tornimäe highrises topped out in 2 years (in those utopical years when dirt cheap loan money flooded like a mud) and in those times people were complainig here that those estonians are so slow. I think they were/are by themselves with or without those alien funding.
Norxx October 27th, 2009, 08:51 AM This project somewhat makes me smile :)
I read in the magazine about Empire state building recently, that is almost 400m and was built in 8 months :) And we , with our modern and fancy technologies, even druing the good times couldnt even get to 1st floor :)

I have magic levitation skills. Joke!
Pictures were taken from the bridge with a mobile phone.
The building site looks dead, may be it is, because there is no main builder.
Seems, that the investor (Balasta Properties) had a contract with company ''BMGS'' to build only the basement (0 cycle works), nothing more. Who will be the main builder I don't know, the most important question is ''when''!
Triceratops October 28th, 2009, 11:25 AM Strange to see 'da Vinci' without single worker - usually there are at least two of them going forwards and backwards! Man, these shots do really make an impression of the project being on hold...

I like the highrise part of this project, though it doesn't seem to fit together with lower part. Still,it would be a highrise Riga desperately needs (if for nothing else, then just for building density)

AFAIK the project is alive, but waiting better times. Some time ago they wanted to change initial project - adding one more tower.
Source: http://www.mantojums.lv/_rict_text/docs/RVC_dokumenti/RVC_SAP_28_09_2011_protokols_166.pdf
