View Full Version : VILNIUS | Prosecutor's office | 12fl | Com
Dompcz December 3rd, 2007, 05:54 PM 12 floors is not much, but this project deserves attention I think. ;)
It will be finished at the end of 2008. Total area of the building is 17 000 m2. All windows will be leaning by 53 degrees. Facade will be cladded with black polished granite.

Pauls December 3rd, 2007, 06:03 PM I like this one
LatvianGG December 3rd, 2007, 06:10 PM It is definately an interesting project!
ch1le December 4th, 2007, 02:22 AM its buttugly too. Plus the name is 100% communist :P
Llinass December 4th, 2007, 07:32 AM 11fl, but it can be more than 35m
Dompcz December 4th, 2007, 04:49 PM ^^ It's 12 floors in all sources which I saw. For example from www.vetruna.lt
Vilniuje, netoli Rinktinės ir Šeimyniškių gatvių sankirtos statomas dvylikos aukštų administracinis prokuratūros pastatas bus vienas moderniausių nepriklausomoje Lietuvoje iškilusių valdžios pastatų.
its buttugly too. Plus the name is 100% communist :P
I'm sure you have Prosecutor's departments/offices in Estonia too:

The prosecutor's office in the Estonian capital said Moscow had brushed off a May 10 request for help in their investigations into the hacking campaign.
You must be commies, aren't you? Or maybe just a little bit slow... :)
As for ugly - get a taste. :P
ch1le December 4th, 2007, 07:14 PM yeah sure Dompcz i lack taste :D
And the commie comment was a joke :D
ch1le December 4th, 2007, 07:15 PM but seriously, i can see the architect going... "Oh i know ill rotate ALL the windows 53 degrees, what a visionary, or no, an architectural genius i ar!"
Dompcz December 4th, 2007, 08:37 PM yeah sure Dompcz i lack taste :D
And the commie comment was a joke :D
And I wasn't joking? Get a taste and joke-detector. :P
If seriously, this project has been rated quite controversially in miestai.net forum too.
Jarmo K December 4th, 2007, 09:47 PM i guess i don't have any taste either...
where in vilnius is it located?
Llinass December 5th, 2007, 07:55 AM ^^ It's 12 floors in all sources which I saw. For example from www.vetruna.lt

So you saw only one source. Sorry but i have one too, where Prosecutor's house is 10fl. :) http://www.miestai.net/forumas/showpost.php?p=100746&postcount=19

vytauc December 5th, 2007, 10:15 AM It's Ok for my taste. It looks kinda strict, like it says: "know what you came (were brought) here for." :)
Muthai December 5th, 2007, 10:40 AM I'm sorry, but this is a  for me. Maybe it's a lack of taste from my side, but this just looks like it's a computerpart or somthing...
Pauls December 5th, 2007, 01:52 PM in the last rendering i don`t like it.
Nőgesh December 5th, 2007, 04:28 PM it's 11 storeys at most
Dompcz December 5th, 2007, 05:22 PM it's 11 storeys at most
Well, I didn't get information about 12 floors out of nowhere. Official website of builder www.vetruna.lt says it'll be 12 floors, I gave link above. I guess they should know what they are building. :D Use lithuanian dictionary if you want.
@Llinass: That's a very old source you are using.
Gatis December 5th, 2007, 05:26 PM It's rather jail than office. Deppressive up to maximum level. Interesting though - but not nice.
Dompcz December 5th, 2007, 05:27 PM Not much time left till we see how many floors it actually has. The only version why they gave number 12, is that maybe for some reason they counted one underground floor. But why only one then? In some sources it was written that it'll have two underground floors, in other - three underground floors.
Siberian December 5th, 2007, 05:35 PM Wow.. it's so boxy, and I agree it look like a jail, not an office. Why do you so love the boxes?? Don't you tired of the boring architecture from the Soviet times?
ŘlandDK December 5th, 2007, 05:44 PM Looks very boring IMO.:(
Dompcz December 5th, 2007, 06:06 PM Don't know why but I already imagine how most of you will say "wow, it actually looks good" when it'll be finished.
Jarmo K December 5th, 2007, 06:56 PM http://foto.miestai.net/inkelti/20060715/prok6.jpg
hhehe, llnass!
should that answer my question? :D could we be more precise, i mean i can see europa tower but how far is it from the ncc? north of ncc or south? east?
thanks in advance x)
taimis December 5th, 2007, 07:21 PM Its actually being built near some commie blocks, so I think it will be a nice contrast. And anyway, its not a major project, I think its nice, but whether you agree or disagree you cannot deny thats its interesting.
For those who know where Gedimino kalnas is:

Jarmo K December 5th, 2007, 07:26 PM kalnas = castle?
therefore the highrise cluster is on the left? if i understand correctly...
thanks, taimis! (:
Dompcz December 5th, 2007, 07:28 PM kalnas = hill :)
Yes, high-rise cluster is on the left.
taimis December 5th, 2007, 08:26 PM yes, I meant to say castle, sorry. But as you can see it will improve the view on that side dramatically ;) .
Ţróndeimr December 6th, 2007, 09:24 PM Ugly box. Interesting facade, but it does look like a jail as some say!
LatvianGG December 8th, 2007, 04:40 PM Dunno why you all are so negative. It is quite an uncommon project, and I think it really has something. Sure the perfectly square box is not the most challenging concept to build, but I think when finished it will look very good!
.oreo. December 25th, 2007, 03:11 PM Wow.. it's so boxy, and I agree it look like a jail, not an office. Why do you so love the boxes?? Don't you tired of the boring architecture from the Soviet times?
I don´t quite understand what does boring architecture of soviet times have in common with this building?
I think it´s simple cube shape is rather advantage comparing to glass and steel architecture of present day office buildings and structures in general - makes the building more unique..I really like this one.
Mikrobs December 26th, 2007, 05:04 PM It's beautiful, I like it!

LatvianGG August 23rd, 2008, 11:44 PM Looks just great! :okay:
Keith S G August 24th, 2008, 11:31 AM A wicked little building! if you see it once you won't forget it. An easy design with the biggest impact. A light blue colour would have made it less aggressive. If you live near there and see it everyday it may not be pleasant to see (especially from the older buildings nearby). Location wise , i prefer to see it in a modern setting. i'd give it the:okay:
Keith S G August 24th, 2008, 11:33 AM The only thing is , it looks like it's build in a park! so, i'm not so happy about that.
ch1le August 24th, 2008, 01:56 PM if the windows were made in one piece, it could be regarded as pretty cool. But as they are not... its not its not its not. not.
Dompcz August 24th, 2008, 05:30 PM its buttugly
if the windows were made in one piece, it could be regarded as pretty cool.
Quite an improvement. ;)
Mikrobs August 26th, 2008, 05:13 PM very good, looks better than I expected:okay:
Spearman August 29th, 2008, 12:50 PM You banned Mikrobs for saying it was better than expected? ;)
Hmmmm.... others may be warming up to this one, but I'm not sure I have a taste here... :( At least it shines, I was afraid I would see dark red bricks scrolling through the thread.

absolutely fantastic, although area lacks some urbanity
ch1le February 17th, 2009, 05:14 PM the surface reflects, saving grace.
Also the ground floor is nice. Overall detailing is also pretty good.
Better then expected.
