I have some photos I also took of the 3rd/4th largest city in Zimbabwe called Gweru but will upload another day soon.

Well makes a change as not many new pics of Harare have been loaded until now. Just wish the politics would get sorted and the economy to grow so new tall buildings can start to go up again!!! I dream of Zim having a super tall building to match some those in rest of Africa!

I come from Buhera district but grew up in Harare and visited mostly for the holidays.Interesting to see Les Brown in your pictures i remember going there once as a kid before finding out what people do in public pools at school.

Unfortunately Mugabe has lived quite long as he is 84 yr compared to current fellow Zimbabweans who after 30 years of independence have an average life expectancy of 34 yrs for a woman and 37 yrs for a man!!!! I see His party dont turn up for talks to try sort the mess out that they have created. Instead they too busy lining their pockets and building their mansions in Harare while the people suffer. Its a disgrace and I cant wait till mugabe dies where God will judge him severly no doubt. The good thing about life is we are born equal and in the end we die equal yet we will be judged by our actions!!! Long live the younger more democratic and sophisticated MDC. You wont the elections outright and you will win the next elections due 2011 and Zanu-pf may be put to the stake!!!!

The pictures make me think of what the country could've turned to had it got good and sensible leaders. I'm sure if the political situation in the country turned to the better Zimbabwe would heal itself fast. It has one of the more educated population in Africa and a prosperous diaspora all over the world who will act as potential source of investment and talent in the development of the country. It also has the economic engine of Africa (SA) just to its south. They just need to solve the political issues first.

I think you are wrong. Zimbabwe will rise again someday. IMO if Nairobi ever had a sister city on the continent, it would be Harare. It's similar in many aspects.

I was there last Spring. There are plenty of white Zimbabweans still there, and lots of Asians as well (not sure where in Asia, but Muslims for sure).

Really? You haven't been to Nairobi recently though. Harare has wide roads and is less crowded than Nairobi. Nairobi went out of plan in Moi's era and was almost becoming a dumpsite in early 2000s. but now Nairobi has more modern structures than Harare though Harare still beats Nairobi in terms of roads (Harare has wider roads). this is because Nairobi, once the best planned African city, was planned to be a small city which later outgrew its potential greatly and unfortunately during the reign of a corrupt president. However now most roads in Nairobi are either under expansion or earmarked for expansion - a major reason why several good modern structures in Nairobi are being torn down.

Well Nairobi looked better in the 80s than late 90s. It was at its worst in the late 90s.

The ZIMRE apartment complex in Harare was constructed in the 90's. It has 380 units and it is the largest apartment complex in the country.
