Muthai December 6th, 2007, 06:57 PM :okay: for highrises in Stockholms innercity
 for the design. I agree with the previous writer.
Insane alex December 6th, 2007, 07:04 PM I think this one looks okay, there are better renders of the highrise. I'll try to find them later...
AW December 6th, 2007, 07:33 PM Yeah, I don't have any probs with this one either, it's ok IMO. But is it really U/C? Damnit, why don't we have anyone updating us on the progress over at kungsholmen? :)

Nightsky December 7th, 2007, 12:29 AM Can someone confirm it is under construction? If it is, it will be one of the twenty tallest buildings in Sweden.
Boscorelli December 7th, 2007, 01:08 AM Well according to familjebostäder who's building it, people can begin to move in 2009, so I suppose it on the way. They are digging like hell in the area anyway.

sapmi December 7th, 2007, 04:48 AM Horrible design. At least the color is light.
Swede December 7th, 2007, 08:00 AM 78m added, and status changed. If the site is being cleared it's in DEMO, not U/C. U/C is when things start going up...
safta20 December 7th, 2007, 11:15 AM This building is dangerous. It could perhaps look good in a skyscraper cluster but not alone. It will look like the rest of the commies in Stockholm when it gets old, torned and get dirty facades. The reactionary Stockholmers will say that this is another example which proves the rule that modern buildings are ugly. Please don't build this.:ohno:

I get your point safta. but I think the difference will be what kind of people will actually be living in this house.
Those commieblocks you are referring to are rentals, which make economy not so good when it comes to repainting etc.
My guess is that these flats will mostly have to be bought, and so the economy will be different thus ensuring that the facade will look clean and nice for a looooong time ;)

I think the mix with the two highrises by the highway adds a nice touch to the whole area. Three tall ones, not just one..
Although, as always, all of them could had been quite a bit taller...
I am a bit worried with the "regular" houses in the area though, its that regular "nyfunkis" look which is all over the place right now. Please, add some more variation to the designs!
Nomels January 6th, 2008, 04:38 AM Height - 8 points
Design - 1...OK... 4 points
Area - 7 points - looks urban with few more tall thingies:)
Schweden January 6th, 2008, 10:06 AM As always, I love new towers. I love this one, I really like the design. :)

Vormek November 18th, 2008, 08:42 PM I looked through some pages in the highrise section and found several interesting topics. So I thought I'd brought up this one since it's currently DEMO. I think the design is ok for it's location. Any news about this project?

AW November 23rd, 2008, 04:46 PM A big LOL @ that first pic, that's the worst render I've ever seen.
Other than that I like it, clean and simple. Sure it could be much nicer and put in a cluster, but that goes for every new building in Sthlm.

Hmm.. we've the same problem in Ørestad (80-85), due to the damn airport. But at least they're designed by Fosters+Partners, Libeskind, 3XN etc.
Sorry but this is really ugly, but fortunately it's 78 m.
I think, except for a few Scandinavia has to many boxy/commi-designed proposals.
staff November 23rd, 2008, 08:34 PM That's the crappiest building I've seen in a long time. What's the difference between this shit and the tower blocks in the suburbs? The architectural climate in this country is hopeless!
moveteam November 23rd, 2008, 09:32 PM What's the difference between this shit and the tower blocks in the suburbs?
Nothing I guess  It's a really boring building. Wonder what the Dubai or London people would say if they saw this.
AW November 24th, 2008, 10:46 AM Nothing I guess  It's a really boring building. Wonder what the Dubai or London people would say if they saw this.
This is just a residental tower in a residental area, they build this kinda shit in London too. And Dubai? They would laugh at turning torso down there ffs. :)
safta20 November 24th, 2008, 04:13 PM Yes this building is not beautiful. I believe they didn't put any energy of the look of the building when they designed it. But ok... it's a "cheap" rental building and not a fancy commercial high rise.
Most of the buildings in Dubai and New York does not look better than this. I think it's the impression of seeing many skyscraper instead of only one that make the difference. So if they want keep building lonely high rises in Stockholm they better do something better than this.
AW November 24th, 2008, 04:19 PM ^^ Word.

One word: Planning.
Instead of being thrown out on a lawn in the middle of fucking nowhere this building will be standing in a well defined urban space with a public square, public spaces with stores in the bottom, and both tram and subway lines closeby. That's a huge difference for me. I would very much like to live in this building, but I would never ever want to live in something like this:
:puke:http://www.herkommer.se/projekt/stadsbyggnad/Axelsberg/phoga_350.jpg
And yes, of course the building could look much nicer, but to me the area I live in is just as important (if not more) than the look of the houses.

Excactly, we notice all the bad projects, when then most awesome are more rare in our region.

AdnanPD December 20th, 2008, 10:48 PM It fits well in the location, and I like that its a higrise God knows we dont have many of them in Stockholm ;)
Boscorelli April 7th, 2009, 03:57 PM Construction of the highrise will start this summer.

Det höga huset får en fasad av glas och prefabricerade betongelement.

Swede April 7th, 2009, 04:12 PM ^I LOVE how he made a point of pointing out that the prefab concrete won't look like prefab concrete :) Maybe they're starting to realize that prefab concrete is usually very easily spotted and looks pretty damn ugly...
Vormek May 27th, 2009, 02:33 PM I thought I would bump this thread because the "Brovakten", which is located close to this highrise, is soon to be under construction.

Boscorelli August 22nd, 2009, 12:41 AM Great update K-J N!
And some of the roofs are green, could it be that it's going to be grass?
There where some story yesterday or today on ABC about some houses getting grass on the roofs, thought it was some old ones, but I'm not sure.
It was something about parks on the roofs or something, didn't pay too much attention to it.

The area around Tomteboda is a nightmare as far as accessibility is concerned which is unusual as normally walking in Stockholm is easy. It needs to be improved. Fast!
I more meant public transport as the nearest stations are Kristineberg and Stadshagen, though they are a bit far from the development itself. The light rail line has been shelved for now pending rebuilding of Sergels Torg I believe. It'll come eventually, but eventually is the operative word. For now they need to run a better bus service to connect the area.
ShaEreHugo August 10th, 2012, 12:27 PM Light rail via Lindhagensgatan is a must to make it a vibrant part of the city. The distance to both Stadshagen and Kristineberg is too great. This new, amazing, part of the city deserves a good connection.

I agree completely. The arguments used against the line are the proximity of Stadshagen och Kristineberg as well as that the Blur subway line already goes parallel to the proposed route. IMO these arguments are inherently flawed. Like you said the subway stations are too far. The Blue line is also a very deep line with focus on longer distance trips, very unlike the tram line which would be far more like a super-bus line than a subway line.
Afaik there is not only the issue of the Sergels Torg renovation, there is also very little political will to extend the line past T-centralen :(
As for the actual topic of this thread: I think the tower is kinda boring. Not ugly really, but neither is it beautiful. I also see it far too seldom. It should be poking up above Fredhäll from my office on Lilla Essingen! :)
Svartmetall August 10th, 2012, 03:49 PM Light rail via Lindhagensgatan is a must to make it a vibrant part of the city. The distance to both Stadshagen and Kristineberg is too great. This new, amazing, part of the city deserves a good connection.
Agreed 100% and unfortunately it isn't forthcoming instead they're too busy contemplating their massive road expansion projects. Sometimes politicians annoy me beyond all reason. Yes they are investing a lot of money in public transport, but then they try to kill it with investments in the most pointless projects known to man.
Hopefully once this area starts to really come together they'll improve things, but alas, I can't see that happening quickly.

knasboll April 11th, 2013, 09:42 PM Thank you for this thread, I have enjoyed reading it. I recently registered on the forum and decided it was time for my first post. We will move into an apartment in Lusten in early May and I'm really looking forward to. We visited the apartment today and it looks great, a very well-planned apartment with large windows and a lot of light. Expensive for a rental of course, but about on par with our previous apartment and this one is a lot nicer. If you are interested I could offer some info and photos from inside later on.
I can start by offering a photo from our soon to be balcony. Unfortunately I didn't have my proper camera with me so it's taken with my cell phone.

Thank you! And I can try to take some photos before we clog it with all our stuff. The apartment was great, very airy and well-planned. I would have liked one more room maybe, but this had better views and better planning. The views are in the direction of the photo from the kitchen and balcony, and the living-room and bedroom faces the city.

The area has been pretty dead until quite recently. I worked in Stadshagen in the late 90's and it was still very sleepy with almost no shops and very few residential buildings. I remember taking walks during my lunch hour down to the water and under the highway. I still remember one summer in July, the whole place was almost completely empty... No people anywhere. It felt like a very neglected part of Kungsholmen. The house where I worked was demolished last year to make room for more apartments. For a while at least Jan Jörnmark had a very nice series of photos from the office complex Lustgården where I had quite a few lunches (I can't find the photos on his site any more). It wasn't that old, but it was torn down a few years ago, but apparently it was more or less impossible to find tenants for it.
I would also be interested in seeing older photos of the area, I haven't been able to find that much.

An aerial of Hornsberg, taken on April 2007 according to the author. Hornsbergs asfaltverk is still there, in the place where Lindhagenskrapan stands today:

Stora Bryggeriet (The Big Brewery) was for a long time the dominating building complex of Hornsberg. Some parts of it still exist today and are going to be preserved.

We start at the corner of Lindhagensgatan and Hornsbergsvägen. I think that these white bulidings along Lindhagengatan were quite new then or freshly renovated.
Beyond the red building you can see two buildings that were replaced later by the "ICA Maxi building":
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2004/040309_hornsberg/040309_hornsberg_5239.jpg
Same place today:
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2013/130414_lindhagen/130414_lindhagen_6807r.jpg
The building that was standing at the other corner of Lindhagengatan and Hornsbergsvägen (just behind Asfaltverket) is no longer there:
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2004/040309_hornsberg/040309_hornsberg_5241_v1.jpg
This place looks totally different today:

These buldings were standing along Lindhagengatan and were torn down some year ago:
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2004/040309_hornsberg/040309_hornsberg_5193_v1.jpg
Now it's a construction site (kv. Leendet):
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2013/130414_lindhagen/130414_lindhagen_6801r.jpg
Same construction site seen from a place further up Lindhagengatan:

Back to 2004. Stora Bryggeriets building (Mälteri) seen from Lindhagensgatan. The building is going to be preserved.

On the left side of the parking lot, seen in the old picture, is a construction going on now. The same that we've seen in the pictures above.
And on the right side of the parking lot, a new residential building is already standing (one of the Västermalm Strand buildings). Finishing works are going on:
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2013/130414_lindhagen/130414_lindhagen_6803r.jpg
The same new building seen from the little square at Lindhagenskrapan:
http://www.michau.se/pics/my_pics/stockholm/2013/130414_lindhagen/130414_lindhagen_6796r.jpg
Back to 2004 and a look at Hornsbergs Asfaltverk that was dominating the area at that time:

The next few pictures I took standing on the ice to get better perspective.
Hornsbergs Asfaltverk once more:

The picture below shows the same place today, but is taken from a different angle. I wasn't so keen on walking on ice in the middle of April... ;)
It shows Hornsberg strand and Lindhagenskrapan seen from Piren:

Great pics. Its amazing how much better it looks today in comparison to 2004. My friend is about to move in in one of the two black highrises, in about a week or so. Its gonna be interesting to hear how it feels to live there, with the view and everything.
Svartmetall April 15th, 2013, 10:05 PM Wow, I'd missed that picture before! That's an amazing difference! Fantastic capture of how (bad) things used to be.
knasboll April 15th, 2013, 10:34 PM I remember walking there around 2004-2005, I doubted that anyone would ever build a new neighbourhood there. It was a shame because the houses on the right in the panoramic picture are really nice and have a great view, but they were all alone down there. There was nothing really close by. I looked at an apartment on the hill to the extreme right of the photo, but someone else snagged it...
datoriprogram April 16th, 2013, 12:30 AM Huge improvement! Nice pictures :)
(Although I've always been a sucker for old factories. I find them quite cozy!)

While I agree it looks alot better today (obviously), I can't help but to feel a bit noastalgic about it. I guess it's because it was one of the last manufacturing industries left within Stockholm proper (if not the last?) and the memory of it pays hommage to another time when we had a less gentrified inner city.

I felt that way about Albano, I remember going there one last time and having a look before they tore the whole thing down. I don't know why really, I understand why they wanted to use that land, but still...

To me atleast they've symbolized the more diverse city I grew up in and not the middle class ghetto it has become. Sadly, Stockholm's inner city has become too small be a truly dynamic city. Here we have alot to learn from Copenhagen. Dropping rent regulations and and decreasing the berucracy to spur more affordable urban development are musts.

I agree completely. There are a lot of developments in Stockholm right now, but most of them are very expensive and also very similar. I do however like the fact that there is at least a focus at bringing the closer suburbs and the inner city together, like at Norra stationsområdet, and also south where Södermalm is being connected more to the neighbourhoods just south of the bridges.
The rent regulations are still a huge problem though, and there seems to be no real political will to work on that particular problem.
knasboll May 3rd, 2013, 10:48 PM So, I moved into Lusten yesterday andd I'm still mostly unpacking my stuff (or our stuff really). First impressions are that the view is quite Amazing, the apartment is very nice and that mostly it seems a good place to live. I have taken some photos of the apartment if anyone is curious, and also some photos of the view. I went to the roof-terrace a short while yesterday, but I intend to take some photos there too later on. The terrace itself is not much fun, basically they have ruined it with very high safety glass which blocks the view unless you stand on a bench like I did yesterday. I guess they are scared of jumpers. It's a shame though since it feels like sitting in a bowl when it could have been a really cool Place to see the city.
Another impression is that Moa Martinsons torg is not a very attractive place. Somehow they have managed to create a wind-tunnel outside the entrance to the building. Winds yesterday were ridiculously strong just outside the door, we carried some stuff and it was difficult to carry things that weren't heavy. Honestly I don't see how the restaurant in the building can have tables outside on the square. We took a walk tonight and it was less windy, but still very noticeable, and maybe 100 metres away at restaurang Piren it was almost completely still. This feels like bad engineering.
When my internet-Connection is up and running (using my phone as a hotspot right now) and I have access to my computer with Photoshop I will add some photos to the thread.
knasboll May 10th, 2013, 12:04 AM It seems that getting a working internet-connection through OpenNet is some sort of endurance-test meant to frustrate and annoy as much as possible. Currently both OpenNet and Bahnhof are on my shit-list for poor service and general ineptitude.
My computer is at least hooked up, if not online so I'm sending this from my laptop connected through my phone... I'm not sure which photos would be interesting so here are a few photos of the view from our apartment. If you want to see something else (or ask something else), just let me know.

Svartmetall May 10th, 2013, 12:36 AM ^^ Excellent photographs. How are you enjoying living there for now?
Shame you can't get bredbandsbolaget service - they are very, very good indeed.
PS: Am very jealous of you having such an amazing apartment.
dj4life May 10th, 2013, 12:52 AM Great pictures and views! Congratulations with moving to a new apartment. :okay:
I am really looking forward to seing more pictures of the views that can be seen from Kv. Lusten. :)
knasboll May 10th, 2013, 09:20 AM Thank you! I like the area and the apartment very much, yesterday when it was summer outside there were a lot of people just hanging out down by the water and the area really felt alive. That is what I like most about the area I think, the fact that it feels like a part of the inner city even though it is rather remote looking at the map. My plan is to grab my tripod and bring it up to the roof-terrace soon. It should give some great views in three directions at least (looking at the top of the building the roof-terrace is on the lower roof so one side is blocket by the building).
For now I can offer you two photos from inside the apartment that I took Before we started hauling all our furniture in. I Think the kitchen has a pretty high standard for a rental, although there are some solutions that I dislike. The dishwasher is not part of the standard equipment, you have to add that yourself.
The kitchen:

The living room as seen from the front door. The kitchen is to the right and the balcony to the far right. Closest to the right is the walk-in closet.

knasboll May 10th, 2013, 06:05 PM I went to the roof terrace today and brought a proper camera with me. It is quite difficult to get good photos from there because of the tall glass walls and the rail-system that runs outside of the glass wall. I guess it has to be some sort of service system for the building. I can understand why they would want to keep it separated so that nobody interfers with it, but it really takes a lot out of the concept of the roof terrace. Anyway, I stood on the benches to get a few shots.
I just keep posting, tell me to stop, or tell me if you want me to take a picture of anything in particular.
This first shot should appeal to this forum. At the horizon, from the left is first Kista Science Tower, then Victoria Tower and to the right the hotel at Friends Arena. They really stand out!
https://imageshack.us/scaled/large/705/taktrehus.jpg
The second shot is basically at the same angle as our balcony. On the right is the panel that runs almost from the ground and up, which lights up at night.
https://imageshack.us/scaled/large/823/takminneberg.jpg
The view towards the city, almost the same view that we have from one of our living room windows and from the large window in the bedroom.
https://imageshack.us/scaled/large/819/takstan.jpg
The roof-terrass. Not very inspiring, and always very windy. I guess that's the only thing which is good about the tall glass walls, they keep at least some of the wind out.
https://imageshack.us/scaled/large/209/taktakterass.jpg
Finally a shot from the stairwell... If you are scared of heights, I don't recommend looking down from the 22nd floor...

Italiano95 May 10th, 2013, 06:15 PM ^^ Thanks, Awesome photos! I love that view towards the city, for someone who like new development that sight from your livingroom would be like a dream! All of that area is going to get built in the forthcoming years, and you will have an awesome view on the Marieberg area too, which hopefully might get some tall builldings in the future!

I expect the tall building in Alvik will tower behind the Traneberg-bridge eventually. Right now that development is just a big hole in the ground, but it will be quite tall when finished, 18 floors although I'm not sure about the height in meters.
The building in this area is not nearly done, I read on a sign that they are building the largest passive residential building in Sweden (or even Norden?) below the Electrolux headquarters. That is also just a hole in the ground at the moment. Right below us there is also a large building site, although I think these new buildings will be about the same as most of the other lower buildings, maybe 6-8 floors.
Italiano95 May 10th, 2013, 06:35 PM Look at this Picture, here you can clearly see how much more development that you're going to be able to witness in the coming years!

knasboll May 12th, 2013, 08:17 PM I've looked through the thread again, and I don't think the layout of the apartments has been posted before. They layout differs a bit between floors, but this is the general layout for most floors I guess. I know that on lower floors some apartments have smaller basement-like windows in the living-room where they are very close to other apartments on the opposite side of the square. They also have a different layout on the windows in the bedroom because the building is attached to the rest of the block where we have our large bedroom-window.
I would love to see the layout of the large apartment at the top of the building, but I haven't been able to find any schematics for it.

knasboll May 19th, 2013, 10:58 PM Very misty today. A view from our bedroom. A few hours ago it was impossible to see even Minneberg, but now it's a bit better. Still not good visibility though, Högalidskyrkan is barely visible to the left. DN-skrapan is bright as always.

Hm, imageshack scaled it somehow so that it looks like crap, it's been squished together horizontally.
