How much does it cost to build and develop a supertall from start to finish including land acquisition? Also what does the monthly and annual maintenance for such a structure cost? Thanks for the input!:cheers:

One building can easily cost 10 times (or many more) what the same building would cost elsewhere based on labor costs, land costs, etc. That's why it's not just the rich countries building skyscrapers.

Land can cost $5 per square foot or $5,000. Actually some places fall outside even that range.

Hourly wages vary from, I don't know, a dollar per hour (third world?) to $70/hour for a carpenter in New York for example. Add labor burden (pays for pension, health care, employer-paid taxes, etc.) and it's well over half again that much.

The least-variable costs are the commodities bought on the world market, like steel, often. But materials sourced locally and manufactured locally generally reflect local wages, so they vary a lot more.

Also, what sort of building are you talking about? If it's an office tower the number you hear might just be the shell. If it's a hotel the number not only includes walls and finishes but probably FF&E (furniture, fixtures, & equipment) too. Plus hotels have way more walls, way more finishes, inefficient floorplans to build, plumbing EVERYWHERE, etc. So hotels generally cost vastly more than basic office buildings per square foot.

The height of your tower will greatly impact costs. The taller you go, the less efficient it will be, and the more the lower floors will need to support the upper floors, from circulation to structure to plumbing systems.

That's a sip from the fire hose of variables needed to give you a real answer (hopefully by someone more knowledgeable than I).
