Veria (officially transliterated as Veroia, Greek Βέροια or Βέρροια - Véria) is a city in Greece. It is a commercial center of Greek Macedonia, the capital of the prefecture of Imathia, the province of Imathia and the seat of a bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church. Veria is on the site of the ancient city of Beroea (called Berea in some translations of the Bible), which was prominent from the 4th century BC and part of the Kingdom of Macedon. Part of Rome from 168 BC, both Paul and Silas preached there in AD 54 or 55 (see Bereans). Diocletian made the large and populous city one of two capitals of the Roman Province of Macedonia, and it was one of the earliest cities to become the seat of a bishop.

Thanks my friend! I really enjoyed Veria when I was there a few years ago. I truly enjoy all of Greece's northern towns and cities.

Looks like a city bustling with activity this one. I really wonder, especially now that many of the perceived amenities and luxuries of big metropolitan centres, i.e. malls, hypermarkets, highways etc exist also in the Greek countryside, why anybody would choose to move to Athens or Thessaloniki.

I think that we need to help this part of Greece to become as developed as it can be. It deserves it.

Ψιλοαδιάφορη πόλη πολύ κοντα στην Θεσσαλονίκη :). Βλέπω κάποια ωραία σημεία ωστόσο :)

Σίγουρα, είναι και άλλα τα μεγέθη. Το καλό όμως είναι ότι, μολονότι η επέλαση του ελληνικού αστικού σχεδιασμού (αβέρτα κουβέρτα, δηλαδή) έχει επέλθει και εδώ, η Βέροια διατηρεί ένα μικρό και όμορφο ιστορικό κέντρο, παράλληλα με τον ποταμό Τριπόταμο, που προσφέρεται για πολύ ωραίες βόλτες. Θα βάλω κι άλλες φωτό σύντομα. :)

Εγώ τη βρίσκω πολύ όμορφη κωμόπολη. Οι φωτογραφίες την αδικούν λίγο.

Τη θεωρώ πιο όμορφη από την Νάουσα ή την Κατερίνη πχ. Έχει επηρεαστεί λιγότερο από τον νεοελληνικό αστικό σχεδιασμό που αναφέρει ο Κωστής και τα ιστορικά κτίρια που έχει παραείναι πολλά θα έλεγα για τόσο μικρή πόλη.

Για τα ελληνικα δεδομενα φενεται συμπαθητικη.

Aν οι φωτογραφίες μου αδικούν τη Βέροια, ζητώ συγγνώμη και επανέρχομαι με νέες. Ελπίζω με αυτές να επανορθώσω. :)

Δεν έχω άλλες... :( Όταν ξαναπάω θα βγάλω. :)

Περνάω συχνά έξω από την Βέροια, μου αρέσει πολύ. Δεν έτυχε ποτέ να την επισκεφτώ κανονικά βέβαια, έχω περάσει και από μέσα λίγο, αλλά μέχρι εκεί.
Με τις φωτογραφίες αυτές πήρα μια καλύτερη εικόνα, είναι συμπαθητική πόλη, αλλά περίμενα κάααατι παραπάνω. Ωστόσο, έχει μια χάρη. Σκοπεύω να την επισκεφτώ τώρα, για να δω και μόνος μου if those pictures do her justice xD

Κάτι άλλο τώρα, η 6η στην σειρά φωτογραφία στο αρχικό σου post... ??? Ξανά δες την λίγο, μπορεί να υπήρξε overlap στον σύνδεσμο ή κάτι τέτοιο αλλά δεν είναι φωτογραφία της Βέροιας (πως θα μπορούσε άλλωστε, αφού δείχνει την μαρίνα και η Βέροια δεν έχει καν θάλασσα). Είναι φώτο από την Καβάλα, άσχετη.

Βέροια: Εγκαινιάστηκε το νέο δικαστικό μέγαρο της πόλης

Το νέο υπερσύγχρονο δικαστικό μέγαρο της Βέροιας, η κατασκευή του οποίου αποτέλεσε πάγιο αίτημα της τοπικής κοινωνίας, εγκαινίασε την Παρασκευή ο υπουργός Δικαιοσύνης, Διαφάνειας και Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων, Αντώνης Ρουπακιώτης.

Ο υπουργός χαρακτήρισε το νέο δικαστικό μέγαρο, «στολίδι» της πόλης αλλά και της Ελλάδας, τονίζοντας ότι η υλοποίησή του αποτελεί «σταθερή αναφορά στο γίγνεσθαι του δικαστικού σώματος». Σχολιάζοντας την οικονομική κρίση που διανύει η χώρα, τόνισε ότι το υπουργείο Δικαιοσύνης έχει το μισό προϋπολογισμό, σε σχέση με πριν από τρία χρόνια και υπό τις παρούσες συνθήκες «προσπαθούμε να καλύψουμε όποιες ανάγκες επιβάλλεται».

Στο πλαίσιο της αναφοράς του στην οικονομική κρίση δεν απέφυγε να αναφερθεί και στις μειώσεις που υπέστησαν οι δικαστικοί λειτουργοί. «Έχουν το δικό τους πρόβλημα. Υπέστησαν την κακουχία», παρατήρησε. Τους κάλεσε όμως να αρθούν στο ύψος τους, διατηρώντας στο ακέραιο το κύρος και την αξιοπιστία του δικαστικού σώματος. «Σε όλες τις εποχές οι δικαστές πρέπει να είναι όρθιοι και οι άλλες εξουσίες οφείλουν να μην παρεμβαίνουν στο έργο τους», είπε. Παράλληλα όμως, τόνισε την ανάγκη οι δικαστές να αφουγκραστούν την αγωνία της ελληνικής κοινωνίας και να μην επιδεικνύουν την μέγιστη αυστηρότητα.

Σε χαιρετισμό που απηύθυνε, ο υπουργός Μακεδονίας - Θράκης Θεόδωρος Καράογλου, υπογράμμισε ότι το νέο δικαστικό μέγαρο θωρακίζει τη δικαιοσύνη στην Βέροια, επισημαίνοντας ότι οι πολίτες ζητούν ταχύτητα και ποιότητα στην απονομή της Δικαιοσύνης.

Παρόντες στα εγκαίνια, που τέλεσε ο Μητροπολίτης Βεροίας, Ναούσης και Καμπανίας Παντελεήμων, ήταν ακόμη, o υφυπουργός Δικαιοσύνης, Κωνσταντίνος Καραγκούνης, βουλευτές της Ημαθίας, ο περιφερειάρχης Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας Απόστολος Τζιτζικώστας, οι δημοτικές αρχές της Βέροιας και άλλων περιοχών της Ημαθίας, εκπρόσωποι των Σωμάτων Ασφαλείας και του Στρατού, ανώτεροι και ανώτατοι δικαστικοί λειτουργοί, δικηγόροι κ.ά. Το νέο δικαστικό μέγαρο, που βρίσκεται στην είσοδο της μακεδονικής πόλης (από την Εγνατία Οδό) και λειτουργεί ήδη από τον περασμένο Ιανουάριο, καταλαμβάνει συνολική έκταση 10.200 τ.μ., ενώ αναπτύσσεται σε τέσσερις υπέργειους ορόφους και δύο υπόγειους χώρους. Το συνολικό κόστος κατασκευής ανήλθε σε 9 εκατομμύρια ευρώ και χρηματοδοτήθηκε από το πρόγραμμα Δημοσίων Επενδύσεων και το ΤΑ.Χ.ΔΙ.Κ.

Οι υπηρεσίες που στεγάζει είναι το Πρωτοδικείο, η Εισαγγελία Πρωτοδικών, το Διοικητικό Πρωτοδικείο, το Ειρηνοδικείο, το Πταισματοδικείο και το Δικαστήριο Ανηλίκων.
